This is perf, presh, and brills! It would be cool if you did another one of these with fingerpicking, along with strummin', in the exact same children's-show-esque format. 😅😊 I'm really kicking myself for not guessing campanella. C'mon!! I'm glad I guessed one of the techniques right though! The Hawaiian pluckstrum (I like the idea of that being one word, like Shakespeare liked to do). Drewmpa Loompas and clawhammer! This is my favorite lesson yet! Thank you so much! 😂😁

When you buy your first ukulele, the people at the store alway demo the instrument with a strumming style. So if you like the sound of fingerstyle do you really need to learn the strumming style first? I have no instrument experience but I hope to eventually learn to play Sound of Silence and I think it sound best fingerstyle.

I would recommend working on what interests you. If that's fingerpicking, definitely focus on that style of playing. However, at the very least, it would be good to be proficient in the basics of strumming. For example, down/up strumming, chunking, and mastering basic strum patterns like the island strum. Since you're new to playing, I'd recommend starting with our beginner's course: rockclass101.com/definitive-beginners-guide-ukulele/ And also our fingerpicking course: rockclass101.com/fingerpicking-concepts-intro-fingerstyle/ Finally, we do have an arrangement of that song. It's mostly fingerpicking-based, but there are a few bars that are strummed: rockclass101.com/the-sound-of-silence/
