Asami/vocals (A-som-e) Haruna/drums (Ha-rune-a) Midori/guitar (Me-door-e) Miyako/guitar/piano/keyboard (Me-yok-o) Miho/bass (Me-ho) It takes time to learn them so no sweat. Top 20 of dual guitars? Man I have been around from the 1960's and these ladies are in my top 3 easily especially LIVE where I rank them as #1. The speed and the way they are in total sync (Vulcan mind meld) is amazing but the harmonizing while picking, sweeping and tapping at insane speeds in perfect sync for what feels like forever is truly more than I can ever recall especially LIVE. Haruna is the mini nuke playing like this for the whole concert and never breaks a sweat. At 4' 9" she is the dynamo that makes this band go and she keeps up with the M & M show and that is no easy feat. Her and Miho came over from Destrose another great female band that has spawned so many great bands playing today. Think M & M are great wait till you hear from the other fans of Kanami, Hal-Ca, Saki, Tomo-zo, etc... Even poor Haruna is often forgotten after some of the other great drummers playing for J/Metal bands. The talent pool in Japan is insane and many of these women form bands in their early teens as music is mandatory from an early age. Miyako started playing the piano at 3 and Midori at 2. By the time musicians hit their 20's they are battle tested and ready to play LIVE!

With Haruna's name, my instinct is to put the stress on the second syllable - Ha-ROO-na. But when Asami says her name at the beginning of Scream For Me, she appears to stress the first syllable - HA-ruh-na. But then again, I've heard her stress the first syllable of Midori's name also (pronouncing it like "MEE-duh-ree), while Midori sometimes stresses the second syllable in her name ("Me-DOH-ree) in interviews, so I'm not sure how much to trust Asami's pronunciations, lol!
@ggloersen1333
@ggloersen1333 2 жыл бұрын
When you announce names from a stage/at a show, it is common to stress the first syllable, even if that's not the correct way to pronounce, it is a theatrical way to get attention/drama. You may even stress more syllables, to example the first and the last.

Please stop nuking Japan. Comparing Haruna with a 'nuke' is tasteless, and if you are from the US rather inconsiderate. Only two were ever used, remember who threw them on who? This is not a game, these are real live people.

In my opinion, the ladies of Lovebites are so extremely talented that the recording production of their music videos actually takes something away from the enjoyment that I get from seeing them in a live concert setting.

Hi, for something slower by Lovebites you could try 'Epiiogue' or some more thrash 'Break the Wall' and for something epic 'Edge of the World'.

Asami - Singer (Ah-sah-me, me as in me, myself and I) Miyako - Piano/guitar (Me-yah-kaw? like in AWesome or hawk) Midori - blonde gutar (Me-daw-ree) Miho - bass (Me-haw) Haruna - drums (Hah-roo-nah) Kinda weird to explain pronunciations, because even within english pronunciations differ, but i think it gets the point across. Edit: really hard to try explain sounds. The main problem people have is how they pronounce vowels, specially english speakers. For the purpose of japanese name pronunciation vowels on have 1 sound: Ah - Eh - ee - aw - oo Like AhAhAh, pEn, teen, stOp, food. O being the harder to explain because it sounds different in every english accent, its a hard O sound hawk or awesome, not a soft O sound like hoe or so.
@garykeeling2275
@garykeeling2275 2 жыл бұрын
I have heard Asami pronounce Miyako's and Miho's names that way, but in interviews, both pronounce it with an "oh" sound, not "aw." Asami's prononciation of Midori's name is also different from how Midori pronounces it in interviews (stressing the first syllable instead of the second). Could simply be a difference in dialects between Asami (from Tokyo) and Midori and Miyako (both from Osaka). It is also possible that in the interviews, they are using a more formal pronunciation, while Asami is using an informal pronunciation on stage.
@nanopix5305
@nanopix5305 2 жыл бұрын
@@garykeeling2275 As you said, the differences could simply be dialect differences or just how languages work. In any language there are a lot of times people pronounce something differently just because it flows better in the conversation and people dont talk constantly thinking how they must pronounce every word perfectly.

Re. their names: accent on the first syllable. Now, re. "Swan Song": Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the greatest classical composers of all time. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now one of the best metal guitarists in the world. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). All five members of the band are Jedi-level musicians, but I think Miyako is a once-in-a generation talent, a true savant.

You are right. I've watched Lovebites channel and Miyako's channel. To think originally she was to be just a support guitarist. I think Miyako felt it was a good fit to be a full time member. I would bet the rest of the band recognized the immense talent of Miyako. She is a musical powerhouse. All the girls in Lovebites are world class musicians.

Miyako is a BEAST. She was already a concert hall quality classical pianist, and it has been a real joy to watch her growth in playing lead guitar from the earliest 'live studio' recordings in 2017 to the near flawless execution from the 5 of a KInd 2020 release to now. Midori's lead guitar compositions have always been outstanding, but MIyako has become just as good in her own style. The lead guitar breaks in the Live version of Winds of Transylvania are truly EPIC.

@@hiufernando7340 That's true. I imagine the other members of the band sitting Miyako down and asking her to be full time. Miyako saying, "Twist my arm." They take a step toward Miyako and she says, "Okay you big bullies. I'll be full time member." Maybe not exactly like that.

Their best-known slow songs are "Frozen Serenade" and the three "E" ballads "Epilogue", "Edge of the World" and "Empty Daydream". All but "Epilogue" have a progressive structure that builds the speed and power until a big climax. Think of Ravel's "Bolero", Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" or Nightwish's "Ghost Love Score" and you've got the idea.

Because Lovebites plays so many different styles it makes it hard to pick out a favorite because their best songs fall under different genres and you enjoy different things about each song, so it makes them hard to compare. My favorites are A Frozen Serenade, Rising, The Crusade, Edge of the World, Break the Wall, and The Hammer of Wrath. Each one is so different from the other that it makes it a challenge to pick one over the other. That's why so many of us say, my favorite Lovebites song is the one currently playing.

You’re exhibiting the classic reaction problem with Lovebites… the never ending search for a favourite song. Each one you hear becomes your favourite…. Until the next one. Seriously, 46 songs, zero album fillers. All masterpieces, with the occasional supreme masterpiece. Great to see you appreciate their talent. And yet they are such down to earth people. What’s not to love?

These are the sort of venues that some of the greatest bands played in and it is something I can actually relate to growing up!! Your reaction is great. Lovebites does not have any good songs in their collection. They just don't write good songs. They only write masterpieces. This is definitely one of their greatest. For a bit slower, these are the songs that I would recommend. Edge of the World Empty Daydream Epilogue These songs do pick up speed at some point. For something fun, watch Dragonforce Farming Simulator with special guests Midori and Miyako. There are two versions. One official and one from audience. Both give a different perspective. Miyako does a cover of Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways instrumental only.

This song was played in the same show as you just witnessed with Swan Song, FOAK is one of the greatest live recordings known to the rock world. Anyway, Edge of the World is the second song from the end of their encore spot which consisted of three songs The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath, Edge of the World, and We United, and what a way to end the show.
