(Edit - Denis also plays all the instruments) Raphael Mendes sounds exactly like Bruce Dickenson, every nuance, hits every note and does What If Bruce Dickenson Sang For...Judas Priest/Megadeth/Gun N Roses/etc? types of covers.

I think one of the covers I've heard that I was most disappointed in, was Halestorm's cover of "Girl Crush". Girl Crush was HORRIBLY overplayed at the time. Everyone hated it (for one reason or another, but mostly being overplayed). When we still used FM radio at work, people would use our paging system to override the radio and interrupt it on a MASS scale. I stumbled upon the cover by Halestorm, and thought, "oh alright, this could make a difference" at a friendly gathering. Immediate freak out. "WHY ARE WE LISTENING TO GIRL CRUSH?!?!" Calm the fuck down and give it a minute. It's Halestorm. Gave it a minute. Nope. Nope nope. No originality. No addition. No dressing it up. Just Lzzy Hale singing it. I apologized for giving it a chance, and moved on to better heavier things to cleanse our ear holes. By no means "awful" like some of these (MGK, W.. T.. F..!). But, wow. They're genuinely talented and a lot of fun. Even Fred Durst isn't all that bad, contrary to what most music nerds seem to agree on. On the opposite end of the spectrun, I never even knew that cover of Green Day's "American Idiot" existed before watching this video, but hearing the singer of 5 Seconds of Summer sing the first line of the song made me cringe and that's when I realized this was going to suck. Can I go back to when I didn't know this cover existed, please? Never heard of nor care about the rest, though, other than ARTV mentioning U2's cover of CCR's "Fortunate Son" in his video about the same topic of bad covers. Considering how great the original song is, I don't think I need to hear the cover to realize that the original is better.

"Credit to Stern for being so complimentary to MGK live and clearly acting his butt off by telling him it was good so it wasn't awkward". What!? No! MGK is a professional, paid performer. He was likely paid for this appearance. And he took a song beloved by millions and didn't even try. If you go to a restaurant and get food poisoning, do you owe the chef thanks? If you buy a car that breaks down out of the lot, do you go shake the hand of the person that sold it to you? This idea that we have to walk on eggshells around everybody is absolutely ridiculous. Stern should have given an honest, constructive critique. "I can tell you didn't warm up, you're pushing your range and you're pitchy. You might want to give this song another shot, a lot of people really care about it and the lack of care you're demonstrating makes me question why you wanted to cover it at all." If I went into ANY job and put in the amount of effort MGK did here, I'd be fired on the spot. Not only is he not fired, he makes more money than I'll EVER make. The least we can do is hold him accountable for obviously phoning it in.

Also, another thing the three days grace cover wasn’t all that bad I have definitely heard much worse covers than that. I mean it’s just like children of Bodom doing Britney Spears or something like that once again, we have a similar case to Limp Bizkit here where they have designed a cover to cater to a different kind of audience in a different kind of community. I mean the rock riffs are pretty standard but I mean it’s three days grace I don’t expect them to do these super complex riffs because they haven’t done any really since their first album I liked a lot of their earlier stuff because it was more progressive like, but it was the song that was more simple that got the radio play so they just went with that so with that in mind, it ain’t so bad.

bizkit's cover of faith was unreal, love that song!

"Faith" has grown on me over the years, the worst thing is that it came at a time when punk and metal was completely SATURATED with covers. Limp fans should check out the KLF and Extreme Noise Terror's off-the-rails rendition of 3AM Eternal performed at the 1992 Brit Awards

Limp bizkit cover of faith is the reason they blew up and took over and haters didn't know what to do other than hate 😂I don't like plenty of music. Difference is I don't even mention the bands 😂

As 311 was mentioned discussing that Lose Yourself cover, they have made one of the BEST covers i have heard, Leaving Babylon by Bad Brains

I heavily disagree with putting Limp Bizkit's "Faith" on here. I shamelessly prefer it to the original, and I feel like most other people under the age of 60 do as well. I can't even remember the last time I heard the original tbh. If you ever hear it on an IG reel or TikTok, it's gonna be the Limp Bizkit version every single time. I mean, does anyone even listen to George Michaels in 2024?

I actually like Three Days Grace's cover of Somebody You Used to Know. Yeah. It was missing a verse, could've used a featured guest singer, sure, but it's not bad. There are way worse covers out there.
