Journey hated doing videos and it's well documented. At a certian point the group took a stand and said any videos from this point on would be live performance only and no "acting" or story lines. At that point, in the 80's, videos were the way for bands to break. Journey was already popular at this time and were pretty much forced to make videos because the times (and record lable) demanded it.

Even if it were, I seriously doubt it would have been a successful one! I'm not sure how 'dirty' the Peach song is supposed to be, but here is what the lead singer said: "Lead singer Chris Ballew has stated that he wrote "Peaches" about a girl he once had a crush on. He allegedly wrote this song after sitting under a peach tree she had in her yard while waiting for her to arrive, to finally let her know that he liked her." So, there you go. Nothing perverted was said, and people can interpret it dirty if they want to. Not to mention I freaking love Mouse Trap - good childhood memories. 8) TRY GETTING YOUR RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW!!!!!!!! Unless Huey Lewis eats you alive like the peanut butter soup and seasoned fries they're serving... "Don't just stare at the camera, eat it!!" 7) Could have been better but I'd consider this one a B-grade guilty pleasure. Next! 6) Meh, I don't think there can be too many Dave Mustaines. I can kinda relate too since I have Asperger's and talk to myself a lot, lol. Don't worry, I ain't crazy. ;) 5) Funny, I used to live in Georgia, and I love ninjas, but still kinda awkward. 4) ROFLOLMAO!!!!… 'nuff said. 3) "Come any closer and we'll cut you, homie.... right after we're done with these piano lessons...." *sips tea and bites crumpet* 2) I can smell his beer-sodden nether-regions from here. I wouldn't swim there but I'd go if he's got a spliff and some free beer. 1) Air guitars are completely un-rock - or any air instruments for that matter. This video was clearly rushed. There’s a story about Dokken’s video for “Dream Warriors” that while they were in between shooting the man who played Freddy Krueger took his blade fingers and stuck it into a bag of blow and the band did lines off the blades. The Creed video was probably a left-handed tie-in to the movie Hard Rain. The Blur video is all about fin and probably a social commentary on rich people and their eccentric ways of doing things when money is in excess. "Hip to be Square" video was probably done quickly and separate from using the Back To The Future footage. Remember, copyright issues were "back in the day" as well. What's wrong with the BVB video? It's just the whole Kiss thing again with a green screen and a bunch of the "Dark" stuff you'd find on the black cards in a Magic The Gathering card game. The Megadeath video uses a German Expressionist art form to tell the story of Schizophrenia. "Peaches" was a great video and parodies Martial Arts movies of the 1970's, which was popular back in the 1990's when I was 18. Again, from a decade that was fun and didn't take itself so serious all the time. The Dokken video : It was the 1980's and Heavy Metal had a certain look. Every group was doing something similar to this video, so to stand out on MTV was hard to do. coming up with new gimmicks was hard to do and a lot of video directors just didn't know how to make a good video. This Dokken video, and the rest, may have been a victim of this...and finally, a lot of video directors didn't talk to the band about what they wanted in a video before they made the band act out the video.

It's a metal band, but A Plea for Purging's, "Malevolence", was something to watch. I wouldn't say I winced through it (sometimes I did), but it was so bad that it was good. It's apparent to many that the background is a green screen and the acting seemed irredeemable. For some, it was made for the laughs and I can see it that in a way.

The term "Alternative" or even "Alt" started out kind of serious in the early 90's but it just turned into a lazy homogenization of similar, fairly crappy genres that MTV was to tired and bourgeois to classify.

When MTV first appeared, I used to ask my friends why they watched videos of musicians lip syncing to their songs. I never saw the purpose for a video, unless it was to make money. So much for the term "Artist".

11:35 Well, to answer your question, considering guitarist George Lynch recalls a story of the band snorting cocaine off of a Freddy Krueger glove around the time of their fourth album, I'd like to think if the answer isn't "a lot" by then, it's at least well on its way to that stage.

If you pause at 1:56, Stapp looks like Tom Araya does now. 2:20 - Matt Lucas? (And yes, I already know the main character in the video is Keith Allen) And just off topic, have you seen Denzel Curry's cover of Bulls on Parade? And if so, what are your thoughts?

One of my favorite videos, but oh boy is it hilariously bad: Korn's Twisted Transistor. All of the members of the band are replaced with rappers (Lil Jon, Snoop Dogg, David Banner, and Xzibit) as they go through "life on tour" like a bad Spinal Tap parody.
