Note about the structure of this review: in the very beginning, consider explaining what the game is fundamentally; in this case, it's soccer played with cars that boost and flip to pass the ball (or whatever - I haven't played it). I appreciate that you were trying to paint a poetic picture about control and pacing, but without knowing what it was, your words were hard to follow and I was thinking, "ok, so soccer in cars... wait, what's going on? are they trying to get points by flipping? what is the purpose of flipping? are boosts used like a sprint button and is it limited or used like a power up? is it scored the same way? how long is a match? and etc."

There really isn't many cons. I know a ton of people that play this and have heard no complaints. The only cons to really be had is the balancing on the AI, and some spotting matchmaking. Lost 16-2 the other night. A player quit and was replaced by a bot. The bot managed to score 9 goals, and the bot on our team scored 3 more for them. The game is so fun, we weren't even mad, just laughed and hoped for a patch, lol. I thought it looked dumb as shit too. It's pretty much the definition of fun. That's the word everyone uses to describe it. It's simple to pick up on, but there's a lot of depth and moves you can pull off if you try to learn. Decent but of customizability. Multiple online modes including ranked matches. It's getting pretty popular too, so it didn't take long to find matches. The balancing for AI just needs tweaked. Small things.

Mediocre AI offline, in a game that relies so much on player involvement it's hard to get cons if the basic game is solid. If the controls and gameplay are good, the only negatives in games like this come from online play aka other players acting like dicks which doesn't class as negative in this game anyway as it embraces chaos which is where these type of red vs blue games often fail

I really really like this game but . . . I think the reviewer is still stuck in stage 2 Stage 1: This is awesome, and right now it's free! So much variety and depth! 10/10 Stage 2: Oh yeah, It's actually only free for a limited time, gotta be objective still loving it! 9/10 Stage 3: Maybe there's not as much depth as I thought, or Variety . . . stil fun though! 8/10 Stage 4: Getting a little repetitive, still enjoying it, but noticing more random luck than skill . . . getting paired with a few duds online. 7/10 Stage 5: Noticing more random luck and cheap goals, no matter how well I do personally, servers are constantly down too. I had a fun time with it . . . 6/10

Has any one else had an issue? Are you on PC? I'd see if I could report the issue to tech support. I've played almost 20 hours online and never had anything like that happen. I've had two instances of it being slow to find players, but that's it. There's multiple servers for different regions. Every so often,I quit the matchmaking and restart if it's being slow. My router broke today, and I'm dying to play more :(

Kokkie Monster 69 Hmm. I've only had that happen twice. It doesn't replace them with bots? It's pretty popular, I'm sure they'll be a fix. That was my only complaints. Spotty matchmaking and AI that goes from shit to OP in the blink of an eye. If it takes too long, I just go back to the menu and click the find match again. It usually tries to find the strongest server for a game out of a few regions. At least it holds when it holds. Could be a problem on the other players end too. If you look at match results, check out that ping and connection status, lol. Some of the ping is at ridiculous levels, and they are barely holding signal. The game is fun other than that. Very original. What's crazy is the first update was a larger file than the actual game. Hopefully they'll take time to sort these issues out. It's one of the most fun multiplayer games I've played in my 25 years of gaming.

Joey Montanez I agree with you completely. Love the game more than my girlfriend's cat lol. The connection issues are the only problem for me. But I'll try restarting the game next time it happens. Also like you said the AI are insanely OP. Me and 3 other friends were playing 4 v 4 last night. We lost 7 - 2 to a team with one real player and 3 bots. I'm not saying that we're professionals at the game and I do like a challenge but the bots scored all the goals. They definitely need a nerf

Kokkie Monster 69​​ We lost 16-2! The other teams bot scored NINE consecutive goals, and the bot on our team scored 3 more for them! Looked completely on purpose too. Took it straight to our net and pushed it in. Usually I'd be mad, but I was laughing so hard. I said "Damn OP bot" on the chat, and the other team hadn't even realized it was AI, lol. Most matches are usually close, or one team gets completely wrecked, haha. I've seen some really good players.

This looked and sounded so stupid to me...until I spent 6 hours in online 4V4. So fun it's unbelievable. Was really pleasantly surprised. If you are on the fence, I'd say give it a try. It's just plain, stupid fun. I usually like horror games, RPGs, and things like the Souls series, so it's not something I'd even usually like, and I've been enjoying it a lot. You can pick it up and play, and do pretty decent, but there's a lot of depth if you take the time to learn the mechanics and physics. There's a few balancing and matchmaking issues, but hopefully they'll sort that out. The AI bots go from OP to so ridiculous they help the other team score goals. That's really the biggest issue I saw.

Dunno if the addition of power ups would hinder the gameplay. Though the dev wants to keep it this way, it sometimes feels stale after a few rounds of just chasing the ball either with a group of humans or stupid ai that sometimes score in their own goals *rage*. It just feels like power ups like missiles and stage alterations would spice this game up a bit. Other than that it's pretty fun.

tjis game is simple to play and really good fun and so addictive. im surebi got this game free with PSN a few months ago. anyway yes its very good and the vehicle upgrade are halarious but are just visual upgrade which dont alter the cars performance so its fair for everyone and keeps the game aimed at the fun factor and not too seriously. I honestly think that I am the only person who finds this game overrated... I had SARPBC on PS3 and the game was awsome. All the matches felt unique. There wer lots of different fields, each one having their own "methods" of playing. Rocket League has few fields and they are all the same. The AI is also a bit shitty and the game feels very "slow" compared to the first one witch kinda goes against what it was meant to be. For example when you kick a ball into a wall it looses so much speed that the opposing team has 50% of their work done. There are many things that Rocket League needs to improve. From an hardcore SARPBC gamer, this is a 6/10 to me

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone else playing goalie in Rocket League has experienced the apparently very handy and ingeniously slothful strategy of simply demolishing the goalie over and over and over again. A real ambitious little toad did this five times tonight. Five. it's a big irritating f-ing deal now because regardless of prior position you re-spawn anywhere. Far from the goal. Two separate matches, two different players, same lame move. Is this going to be a thing? Seriously? Cause my dog could come up with a better volley plan. Thanks for constructive input. And P.s.
