Thanks for testing this bad boy! I have 2 of these and 4 of the 250m's, ive always loved the grey powder coat on these models. Have you ever tested the 250m? Would love to see that! Thanks for the great channel and keep up the great work!

Thanks a lot! Yes, I tested the punch 250M , I had two of them. I tested it when i was just starting the channel, maybe I am going to redyno it again , I still have one laying around. Check my videos , its still online 👍 hope to get another thumb there 😂👋

Nice. I still have my power 150, 2 punch 40's, 1 punch 60, 1 punch 75, 1 rf 2.3, and 1 rf 2.6 amps. Just can't beat old fosgate power and sound. I have a lot of other brands stacked up as well. Expensive and cheap brands I've collected over the years. My oldest working radio is a 1946 Motorola. Took me a year to get the vibrator for it. And yes it's an original 6 volt

Sounds like a huge collection 👍😎👋

Ah the amps with the old X-Cards. Years ago I had to make an X-card, etched the board with a Dremel rotary tool and razor blade as I had an amp I needed to sell and the cards cost as much or more than the amp was worth (it was missing when I got the amp), it was a small amp. Cool amps, but I honestly do not miss the X-Cards for setting crossover frequency. 😅

Those xcards were cheap, full suggested list price was like $9.95! Someone must’ve been price gouging you.

@@jimollison52 Well 10 to 15 years ago they were not very easy to find and pretty pricey on ebay, not economical for the small amp that needed it. Maybe calling Rockford directly would have gotten one if they still had them, but wasn't worth all that considering the age and size of the amp. I think I sold the amp for $30.

You cab run these amps in "Audiophile" mode with no Xcards inserted. 👌👍💯🇺🇲

73.4A draw at 4 ohms mono? Isn’t this amp supposed to be fused at 60A?
@audiokeller197511 ай бұрын
That’s correct 👍 but a dc fuse of 60A will not trip at 73A. It takes some time. The manufacturer suggested 60A fuse because you listen to music, not sinus test tones. Amp draw with music is much much lower because music has a way higher crest factor . Crest factor of sinus is 3dB ( 1.414 ) and music goes from let’s say 6 to 20dB because Music is dynamically! Todays manufacturers don’t rate their amps continuously, they do it with dynamic bursts, 20 or 8ms or bandwidth limited pinknoise. Some of todays amps will just burn if protection circuit reacts too slow when testing with continuous signal. Check out the original birth sheets - you will see values of more than 70 Amps, sometimes less.

Please try to find a n mtx ta2300 amp to test. Theres a reason..I have suspicion that its better. Yes really related circuitry..
@audiokeller197511 ай бұрын
I know about the 2300 but it’s too hard to find even a smaller oldschool MTX in my location 🥲

Do you repair amps? And can you test THD?
@audiokeller197511 ай бұрын
Sometimes I repair amps to get them running for a dyno or fix them for friends, but I don’t test THD
