"Chalcedony ninjas" indeed! Did you know we have the exact same chalcedonies and agates here in Oregon? Only I find them in the desert, not in creeks. It's so cool to see you picking up exactly what I get excited to pick up too, half the world away!
@deegingerkid4 жыл бұрын
I'm over on the coast! We can get some spectacular stuff here too. Occasionally get those waterline agates. Many times they're the banded concentric ones.
@biscuitEMT4 жыл бұрын
@@deegingerkid Do you know, I have never found a thing at the coast or even in the rivers! But I was born in the Mojave and maybe only the climate-kindred ones appear to me. I need the smell of sage to accompany my expeditions! Do you ever find zeolites on the coast? I've heard it's good zeolite hunting there. I usually just find beat-up ones on railbeds.
@deegingerkid4 жыл бұрын
@@biscuitEMT - the best zeolite I know of are up north near Cape Meares. Look for a spot called Short Beach. Lots of chalcedony still in the host basalt. Huge pieces sometimes. Gotta go at low tide and walk north up the beach towards the big rock pile and beyond. All sorts there. A gorgeous dark green jasper is common up there too. I have many pounds of agate and jasper and jasp/ag from the beaches. Best hunting is in-between Newport and Florence before you get to the dunes.

7:00 wormy inclusions 🤓. And what I’ve read about waterline ~ the silica dissolves in the ancient waters, and fills in gaps in the host rock slowly and in stages. For each stage, some silica settles out forming white levels we see as the lines. The next level forms later due to changing pressure/heat/environmental conditions and the next level forms either until the gap is full or the final level is filled all at once so it looks to be all clear at the top of the nodule. Something like that (I’d have to go look for the source materials but I’m chillaxing on my days off watching fossicking videos). 😎

Hi Jesse, good to see you and "Paul the Rockhound" out in the creek, just a couple of "weirdos" doing a bit of duck diving in the creek, completely normal to me 😳😳. I just had a thought, its like two of those glass bird desk ornaments with fluid in them continually dipping down and up, except it's two grown men doing it in a creek, nothing strange about that, 😂😂😂. I missed to the opportunity to slip in to NSW while I could and now I could be waiting for months to get there, &@$)@! Oh well just have to keep searching SEQueensland. An old mate of mine has a property at Cloyna that I have not been to since he moved there 15 years ago, so I am going to try and make a trip up there. He said his kids were always waking in with pieces of coloured stone, sounds interesting. Could be interesting. As always good video Jess, great pieces, it's like watching a few mates wandering around having a bit of fun. Looking forward to the next creek. Keep Safe & Keep Well. P.S. I want me one haha! You guys did a great job for 1 hour bro! It just amazes me how much you find each time. That would be the jackpot kind of day for me. I don't even know my favorite of this bunch but Pauly's dark one was tight! The white lines (or black if you ever find any) in waterline agates is onyx...100% And I'm pretty sure you're right to call the one a tube agate...thats what my book calls it haha So good to see you both out there having a good time. Already subbed Pauly of course... Can't wait for more uploads from him...and for you to OPEN YOUR PACKAGE so he can have some goodies I put in there for him hehe....i know, I'm just giving you a hard time...in due time in due time. Cheers🐾

Marlaina Atkins Hahahaha! I have officially not much to do this afternoon so I’m going to have a nice cold beverage and relax opening a long over due package. I can’t wait! Ask Pauly he saw it in the car when I went camping in this video. I wanted to open it out there but ran out of time 😖😖😖 Can’t wait mar. Thank you for being the mega genuine super generous awesome person you are. I’ll let you know when it’s open 😉 Sending much love rock sista!

I could be mistaken, but I don't think I got this video in my *"subscription"* notifications, but _did_ get it in my *"recommended"* videos?🤔 Not sure why, but I'm glad to be here nonetheless! Cheers mate!

Hey mate, yeah I’ve noticed that with other channels I’ve been subscribed to. It’s strange that even with the bell on and everything, it sometimes doesn’t happen. Thank you for letting me know, but I’m glad you came across it mate 😉👍👍

Given that some of what you're looking for refracts light, perhaps you should look at dusk or dark using a light source in search of your quarry. (pun intended) ;-) PS: Great vids, thank you for posting...LLP

haha! Rock puns! I have tried this once while camping and it’s really effective Randy. I never filmed it but I’d like to. I think next hounding camp trip I’m gonna do it for sure. The flash light keeps the focus in line as well. Cheers mate 👍👍👍

RE: Waterline/water level. I looked it up, because I've always said waterline. Apparently they are both correct - I wonder if it's a regional thing.
@Rookie_Rockounding4 жыл бұрын
KatyDid Haha yeah over here it’s water line, or that’s what I’ve been exposed to where as in other places it’s water level. I hear others say water level more now that it’s entered my vocabulary haha. Which is a good thing. I guess you could say I’m bi-lingual. Well, for rock names anyway 🤣

Maybe try on reddit there’s a good place to post rocks you don’t know about and that others will try and help out. Or on a face book lapidary or rockhounding page maybe? They’ll be able to help heaps better.
