@@Rookie_Rockounding - Thank you! Have been agate plucking for several years but began watching your videos around May of last year. Everyone on the West coast only hits the beaches for the tiny polished ones. Soon as I noted those creek videos began exploring online topographic maps. Have found the kind of pieces that make one literally jump for joy. And since California is on the major fault lines- many of the raw creek pieces are agatized Miocene fossils.(corals, sponges, bivalve shells) Never even knew finding pieces like this was possible. Then followed your tile saw videos on learning to cut. Cut some proper ones up. If you ever happen to travel back to Southern California- got a couple mountain honey holes that have became the treasured sweet spots and then then there's a couple well known areas in the desert hills have yet to explore. Would be more than happy to supply ya with the coordinates. Happy agate pluckin'!

Hi Jess, another very interesting video, it would only be too long if it was boring, it wasn't. For what it's worth I think most people would watch it if it was twice that long as long as your finding something or showing parts of the creek or describing the rocks or what you are searching for etc. The only time videos become boring to me is if I watch something for twenty minutes and there is nothing happening and no audio or anything happening. I went for a sight seeing trip yesterday along the Condamine River Road, going from Boonah through to Killarney then returning through Cunningham's Gap, didn't have any time to do undertake searching and most of it is in National Park anyway so you can't take anything. A bit of a search and discover mission. Great drive with over a dozen creek crossing and some amazing rock formations and cliffs. Definitely worth the drive. Going to take my kids & grandkids next holidays for a day trip. Can be easily driven in any standard vehicle at the moment, probably 4x4 if had been raining for a while. I can't wait for the borders to open again so I can try my hand in Northern NSW. Could be a while this time. Sorry rambling along a bit. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Hey mate! Oh man that’s awesome bud! Yeah it’s hard with those borders closed now. But it’s really good you’re expanding the search hey. We really need to do some spreading out ourselves. I’m just terrible at getting time for researching. But yeah Pauly has told us about that area. I’ve also got a cousin up in bris area that has a couple spots he’s searching which is cool. It’s out there, just gotta trip over it hey mate haha! And thanks dude, I’m glad you were cool with how long the video went. Need to get a local hounds catch up sometime. Like an excursion. That would be rad. Will meet up one day though mate.

The beer boot and the green rock were my favorites this time. I’m heading out as soon as I get my kayak loaded up to do a little fossicking of my own. Did I use that work correctly?

YES! You used it right! Haha! Happy fossicking mate! And I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit jealous of your day ahead. It’s stunning country in your parts Rob. Happy fossicking man 👍👍👍

@@Rookie_Rockounding I'm back now, empty handed. I had a great kayak ride, but no rocks. Does that still count as fossicking?
@Rookie_Rockounding4 жыл бұрын
Michigan Rocks Ah bugga. The kayak ride would have been worth it though I’m sure. And man, I reckon it counts as fossicking. I think its the looking for minerals and rocks that is the fossicking part, we can’t help if we find them or not 😉👍😁

* That is where having a bucket with a clear bottom would have helped.. you could tape a small flashlight (torch) pointed down into the water & a brush to clean the scum off the rocks.. You could use a kids toy bucket to make it light weight..

It's so beautiful there! I'm from California but lived in NSW for over a year. It's probably far from you, Bowral and then Sydney. Then drove from there up to Darwin. I spent a lot of time hiking the mountains and wish I had been looking for rocks back then. I don't want to think how many I walked right over lol! Thanks for the video it's always great to go along! .... and the vids are never too long!

I used to have an inflatable lounge mat, but the pillow area was a clear window for underwater viewing that would be perfect for creeks like this. I *REALLY* wish I still had it. I've seen similar ones since, but the quality was rubbish.

Such a beautiful creek bed! Such a wonderful place ❣ Question: which rocks should not be tumbled? I'm a newbie and happy to follow you🎉
@Rookie_Rockounding4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Theresa! Rocks that shouldn’t be tumbled are rocks that are different hardnesses. So basically each rock needs to be the same type as the others you’re putting in to the barrel. “Chalky” feeling rocks will probably wear away or just crumble. They also just wouldn’t take a polish. Also rocks with cracks that go through them. They can break apart and if they do that in the polishing or later stages, it can destroy your effort and means you’ll have to start all over. Here’s a list of really good channels to get you on the right path. meMiner Marlaina Atkins Michigan Rocks Thirst Fast They all have videos that are super helpful. Thats where I’ve learned from. 😁 I hope this has helped Theresa and happy tumbling!!!!!!

This is probably a dumb question, but don't you all have crocodiles there that weigh 2000 pounds? That would make wading through water looking for pretty stones a bit dodgy for me.
