Hi there, KatyDid, from Southern New England, Connecticut. I'd really ❤ to be there huntimng those agates, etc., with you. We have Nothing like those along the CT public beaches, facing the whole of Long Island Sound. Our southern length (East to West) only faces the Sound, not the Atlantic Ocean. Probably the only time LIS gets the Atlantic Ocean waters' is when the massive/destructive hurricanes hit the CT shoreline, 'driving' LIS further westward, with no 'escape route' into New York City. Almost all of the CT shoreline areas are Privately owned/or occasionally Town/City/State Parks. Most of the stones that do end up along the beach areas are milky-white quartz; orange granite with feldspar, biotite, mica & other minerals; non-descriptive brown & black stones. It's been many years since I've walked on the main public beach down there. Nothing very exciting.
@KatyDidRocks4 ай бұрын
Sounds like you need to look into some of the pay-to-dig sites - I understand that the east coast has quite a lot of lovely minerals. Bummer to not have rivers to hunt. :(

@@KatyDidRocks Over many years, late-1960's--2010, I have traveled throughout many parts of the U.S., including Alaska & Hawaii, eastern Canada: Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia (Bay of Fundy area 2 different years, 1968 & 1973, collecting beach stones along its' North shore as the tide receded into the Atlantic Ocean. The Bay has some of the Highest tides in the world, with some 45+ Ft.), Cape Breton. In many of these areas, I have picked up stones along the way. Over the years, latter 1990's - 2010, got to 2 fee-collecting sites in Herkimer County, NY (now total of 3 counties: Fulton & Montgomery), to dig for & collect Herkimer "Diamond" Quartz crystals, some of which are Micros found in subsoil/sandy mixture as small as 1mm in length, perfect crystals, some larger to 1/4 in., in length, perfect crystals, found by sifting s/s mixture through a tea-leaf strainer or 150 mesh screen, from s/s brought home in a 5-gallon bucket. My days of rockhounding got cut short due to neurological disorder affecting my Right Ankle (driving foot), which hasn't been able to flex/bend (as if locked in a vise) for over the past 12+ years with NO driving possible. Actually, I don't need any more quantity of rocks/stones. I occasionally pick up Landscaping rocks/stones if I see something that looks interesting. Life has a way of gettimg Into our lives & Changing what we Thought we were going to be doing, as it has mine over the past 30 years. Don't regret any of those changes. So now I suscribe to your YT channel and others on: Rockhounding/Mineral hunting, Jewelry-making (which I did for years, sometimes using stones [rough/slabs; or stones I picked along the way] which I cut-polished into cabachons, setting them into original handcrafted jewelry); Recipes, Travel, etc.

Be the light that guides others to hope, love, and kindness. In every small act of care, you have the power to heal hearts and inspire change. Choose compassion over criticism, connection over isolation, and peace over conflict. When you spread love and understanding, you ignite a chain reaction that can transform lives and create a better world. Remember, one person’s kindness can spark a revolution of good. So, be that spark, lead with your heart, and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can make this world a sanctuary of peace and care for all.

It's important to know for non-locals, that would like to hunt agates; there is very little access to the Yellowstone. Where there is access, frequently there are no gravel bars, for hunters with no motor boat. There are no businesses I found along the river that rent anything but inflatable floats; and you can't kayak upstream only downstream. So you need a plan to get picked up at a place that is public where you can exit the river and and get a ride back to your vehicle. There are a ton of calculations to make when tyring to look for agates. Katy says they are "up and down the Yellowstone", but gives no help to actually be able to go up and down the riverl
@KatyDidRocks4 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for your feedback. There are actually 23 fishing access and bridge sites on the Yellowstone River, almost all of which have some beach access. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has an excellent guide to the lower Yellowstone: issuu.com/montanaoutdoors/docs/lower_yellowstone_guide_web. I also have written a book on the topic: www.etsy.com/listing/1089523180/so-many-beautiful-rocks-a-memoir-and?click_key=9848fbec6611c0ac14ea980d26bad5f145dde8b3%3A1089523180&click_sum=01d44d21&ref=shop_home_feat_1&frs=1

I don’t do well in the heat with the medication‘s I take, and now that the weather is finally changing I think I could get out now, I’m going to start at the beach first then go from there now that the kids are back in school in Massachusetts and they can’t complain about a dog on the beaches even though they can’t complain about my dog he’s my medical service animal so he is with me at all timesbut they have no need to complain so I think they after Labor Day when everybody’s back in school I’m hitting the rivers and beaches because there won’t be anybody there but me and my Freddy😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
