You guys are a riot! Lol! I laughed so hard! And a Happy Belated Birthday to you, Theo Kellison! You all just found some amazing rocks! And that big piece of pet wood that you found is teredo wood!.It just doesn't have as many worm holes as ours does. And I didn't know that you guys had ship worms in fresh water rivers, but holy cow if that wasn't gorgeous.the holes are caused by ship worms that burrow into the wood and then the worms die and the holes get filled in with silt and silica. And it petrified as it was and it does polish well at least the Oregon teredo wood does! It's a huge, gorgeous piece of teredo wood! And the agates and jaspers were amazing, but my favorites by far, are those gorgeous stromatolites you found! And I really hope you kept those because I will buy them from you! I'm a collector of stromatolites and I have quite a few. Mine are all from the Nevada desert from when it was an ancient shallow sea! And I would love to buy those if you are willing to part with them! Through your Etsy store or personally. Tell me how much! You know how to get a hold of me. I have bought many things from you at your auctions and from your store. It was an awesome video. Thanks Kate!

It almost reminds me of Teredo wood that we find on the central Oregon coast. It happens to be the state fossil for North Dakota (even though it’s now land locked). My dream is to hound Montana. If you ever come to Central Oregon, or the coast we have lots of spots. Not such large finds like there, but still fun.

I believe that large one you said was petrified wood is a fossilized bone of some sort maybe a skull? I’d do some research on it for sure! Great finds! 😎👍

Oh my goodness! Such a plethora of goodies. I can't even get outside (107) much less go rock hunting. My river was nearly dry last week but we got some rain. I would love to go hunting for fossils, artifacts, and rocks. Alas, knees and heat are my bane. I am truly envious, but in a friendly way, of your adventures. Carry on.

I’ve watched so many videos of people finding agates in the wild but I still haven’t found a video (or other resource) that explains how to spot nodules if bands or lines aren’t visible. Do you have a video that can help?

Hi! I try to explain a little about what I'm looking for in each video, but here's a quick primer: There are several things that indicate Montana agate. They tend to have a rough, elephant hide type skin texture, lumps and bumps (and sometimes dimples), and if they are clean and the sun is shining, they glow. Once you train your eye to see them, they are very different from the rocks around them. Of course, this only applies to Montana agates -

No, it’s pretty normal for this time of year - the river rises and falls a great deal annually.
