The show was out of steam by season 9 in general, so you can't really let that ruin Andy's character in prior seasons. I think it would have been fine if they never brought Andy back at all after this, but he did end up contributing to the show a lot. Bottom line is that the writers were doing great when the show was in it's prime so either way it would have turned out enjoyable.

This whole episode was one of my favorite episodes of Andy. I don’t think I realized it at the time because he was being so annoying, but it was SO hilarious to watch him get on Michael’s nerves instead of Michael getting in everyone else’s nerves for once. Also Ed Helm was an amazing actor to bring Andy to life when he first joined the show. I hated Andy so much but the more I go back and watch the earlier episodes the more I realized I enjoyed hating him because of how well Ed played him lol
