Awesome build man! I'm looking at a Ram with a 6.7l Cummins, but I have to admit that those Power Wagons with the 6.4L Hemi's do appeal to me for the simple reason that they are so dang dependable and capable out of the box. And when modified in a reasonable fashion, like yours is, they seem to get even more capable. I'm looking forward to future videos.
@OffroadTreks7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah, I'm pretty happy. If we towed over 10k I'd probably have bought a Cummins out of necessity. Luckily our Airstream loaded up was 6890lbs across the cat scales. She's lightweight even at 27 ft. And the Hemi manages it well enough.

I am so close to pulling the trigger and ordering a new Power Wagon. I've researched it to death. Thinking I needed a diesel. Well honestly need that like another hole in my head. Promised my fiance that my next vehicle I would keep for at least 5-7+ years.............Power Wagon checks all the right boxes. Really appreciate your videos. Just subscribed and going back through your videos this weekend.

We brought a number of diesel out to Moab this year. They can be just as capable. Takes a few more mods upfront. But you can have your cake and eat it too.
@scottsymons61525 жыл бұрын
@@OffroadTreks All of the research and pondering I've done the Power Wagon is the way to go. And the Hemi. Diesel are just to expensive to own and operate. Rather sink my money into the truck for mods and upgrades. And have some fun modifying the Hemi. Plus I like all of the Power Wagon bells and whistles and the manual shift transfer case. And the ride is very nice for a 3/4 ton pickup.

Beautiful landscape, sweet truck. When we pick up our Power Wagon from Caldwell Idaho in a couple of weeks, we plan on doing some sight seeing back to Phoenix. Looking at going to Moab, Monument Valley, Lake Powell and such. =Safe Travels=

Nice build. I picked up a'13 PW earlier this year. We have nasty Rocky, slippery, tight trails here in PA. Running 35" Centennials, otherwise stock PW. Trying get it a tad more trail ready. Glad I saw this vid. Just ordered the DOR steering brace. Keeping my eye on some Thuren stuff. Probably end up with 3' (1.5") coils front, shackle lift rear, short arms and track bar eventually. Later on 36-37" KM3s.

Wow you have an awesome channel. I have been looking for something like this for a couple of weeks. All I ever find is very light off roading or the company sponsored trips. I have been going back and forth between ordering a power wagon or a Rubicon. This helped so much as I like big wide vehicles and a Rubicon is not one but I wanted to see a power wagon perform like your doing. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment. Truck is a lot further along these days. But my wife and I also organize Power Wagons in Moab. These trucks are very very capable offroad for a fullsize.

Ordered the steering brace today and new mounts to migrate the FrontRunner rack from the Lexus to the shell. Had to kinda argue with them as they said it shouldn't be cantilevered over the cab. I'm just putting solar panels on it, so weight is negligible. Sometimes it ain't worth asking questions to vendors. I like the rack though, as I have their way over-priced, but well built stainless table that slides and locks in underneath the rack, so you don't have to fiddle fart around with taking up interior space. And their chairs are real comfy and compact, think CGI makes 'um. Going to reach out to Aluminess tomorrow. Curious to see if they gusset re-enforce the sides back to the frame. Could be a real issue if not, and you come down on just a boxed aluminum corner. Peace!

If we didn't need a fullsize I'm really into the Colorado ZR2; I think that thing is pretty cool. I was always a GM guy, but Chevy these days just isn't really grabbing my attention with their trucks. Even the new "Trail Boss" is standard flare decal package. The Power Wagon just ticked all the boxes for me.

Thanks. I used to have a big heavy C3 Corvette, Pontiac G8 GXP and currently no fun go fast projects. My uncle used to work for GM and built a lot of rat rods and hot rods, grew up around them. Maybe in a couple years I might pick up a project when the girls are older again. Right now camping and the PW gets all the love. :)

Nice video man! So i was debating on 35s or 37s and if I’d just level it or go with a full lift. Where the power wagon is already tall i feel like 35s should come stock! The rock sliders are definitely on the list as well! Keep the videos coming
@OffroadTreks7 жыл бұрын
I felt like the 35's were a great all around tire size. The 37's are awesome looking and meaty. But overall 35's are a great compromise size I think. Especially if you're daily driving and towing regularly. I haven't towed with the 37's yet, but I'm expecting a performance hit there too.

Interesting ideas. I've done the Magnaflow, but held off on removing the fart can. I regretted doing it on my 80 series Lexus as I get a bit of a drone, Have you experienced that? Also, have you found anyone that makes a swingout rear bumper? I kinda vacillate on it, as it is a PITA to deal with on the Lexus every time you want to get in the back, but I can haul more fuel/water and get the spare up to where you can get to it easily. That said, I'm really tempted to get a hallmark pop-up slide in. (no more RTT for me) and I'm not sure quite how far out the smallest one sticks out of the bed. Right now I have a ARE shell that has 'Windoors' with a Bedrug, half is devoted to gear and ARB fridge on a slider, the other side I can sleep in. Taking the rack off of the Lexus and putting it on top so that I can add two or three solar panels and then put a AGM in the bed. Sucks that there is no room under the hood to put a second battery. (I got spoiled with the 80, so relatively easy to add things) One mod that I did right away since I have cloth seats, is put on Carhartt seat covers that I think are made by Covercraft. They fit real nice, washable, and here in AZ where you can go from dust to snow to mud, should pay off in the long term. One point you forgot to mention, is how much work that driver's side White Knuck is to install! ;-) Peace!
@OffroadTreks7 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a real problem with drone. Then again, I've always been a muscle car guy. But Magnaflow in general doesn't have the annoying drone that other mufflers like Crapmaster have. I do spend a lot of time with the Tow/Haul mode on and rarely hit the MDS with the 37's now. Aluminess makes a rear bumper with swing outs that I've seen on a PW with a slide in. I think it's on their website actually.... >> www.aluminess.com/dodge/dodge-power-wagon-trucks-2010-2013/rear-bumper/

Great channel! Thanks for all the helpful info... I’m going to be picking up a 2020 PW very soon. I really like the blacked out stock wheels that are coming with the new PW. So if I put 37’s on the stock wheels will the rubbing on the sway bar be dangerous and/or meddlesome? I don’t mind to do a little trimming otherwise. I would rather put the money from after market wheels to something else if possible i.e. transmission guard/rocker side bars/etc. thank you.
@OffroadTreks4 жыл бұрын
It's about the size of a quarter and all it does is polish it. Literal rub. And only at full lock. It's a non-issue, IMO.

With all the upgrades you've done wouldn't it have been cheaper to get a non power wagon?
@OffroadTreks5 жыл бұрын
Nope. I spent two years wheeling this thing with no upgrades besides the 35's and dif protection. Non-PW, I still wouldn't have lockers, I'd still have to regear, I wouldn't have the articulink which we've proven doesn't flex as well, even if you get Carli arms, the PW arms will flex more becuase of that special joint they put in them. Dunno why the aftermarket hasn't pursued that. Still wouldn't have a disconnectable swaybar.

Great Vid. Wish you would have shared more time with your opinion on the AEV Snorkel Intake. Not sure I want to throw down about $1k for a mere 'Cosmetic Mod', that also requires you to cut a hole in the fender. I like the look, and idea of a CAI with the forward facing open ram air tip, but after running from The Valley of the Gods loop out by Mexican Hat, UT yesterday all the way back down to Page, AZ in everything from blasting sand clouds to near white out snow storm conditions, I am thinking a Industrial grade Filter addition might be worth the possible performance loss and the look of the mushroom tractor tip. Thoughts ???
