Always loved Tracy’s music. He had the kind of albums where I’d play the whole thing through and not just listen to the singles. My brother and I used to sing his songs on road trips. Other good ones from him are “Lessons Learned”, “If the World Had a Front Porch”, and “Alibis”.

I almost cried. Such beauty in a great traditional country song and a great singer to boot! I was driving down a country road with my then teenage son in the passenger seat and this was playing and he said it was a really good song. I will never forget 5 years ago driving 2 hours to Jamestown New York to see Tracy Lawrence as he was my favorite country artist. When we got to the venue and no one was there the hair stood up on the back of my neck. He cancelled 2 hours before the concert. Never got over it. @rockn2country I am so glad this hit you in the feels. I had a feeling it would. I was watching you close and saw the knife hit your heart the first time he said "for a while she'll be mine again".........then the second time when he sang " paint me back into her heart again" ..BOOM!! Hit me the same way the first time I listened to it. You and I don't always agree on songs. You have your criteria and it's different than mine. This song we have a common refrence for and I love everything you said in your reaction. This song starts so soft and pretty. Lulls you in with spring time, porches swings and love. Then bang it jumps up and bites you....... I'm only a little disappointed that you didn't tear up.....lol.

Hey Don, This is one of those songs I've heard many times... but, today is the first time I've ever LISTENED to it. Beautiful work by writer and Tracy Lawrence.... if he didn't write this song.... His presentation of this, as you've already said was awesome! He just let the song speak for itself. Also, the emotion he put into this work shows that it was speaking to him as well. Great job on the reaction... KEEP RN2C BROTHER!!!

@Lone Wolf 63 That's exactly what started happening to me when I started doing reactions--I actually started dissecting songs--hearing them--on an entirely different level. Even songs that I'd thought I'd known took on newer and deeper shades of meaning, as though I was in the room with them when they were writing the lyrics. Many folks, myself included, don't know music the way you do, but the more we think and hear and learn, the more parts we can duct-tape together and make better sense of things. And sometimes I am blown away, even when a song is highly recommended. Many folks can't necessarily relate to the joy I experience when listening to these songs for the first time. I feel like Charlie going into the chocolate factory for the first time every time I react to a great song. As a grown man I can appreciate these songs on a whole different level than when I was a kid or even in my twenties, and I am so appreciative of the experience.

Such a great song! But after your reaction, it had me thinking...just what was the said "Birmingham" he was referring to? The obvious answer?...a city in Alabama. Or maybe a Birmingham-style house? ...a southern two-story home with a wrap around porch. Or could it have been a Brummagen(Birmingham)-style painting? ...a large, cheap, easy-to-do painting. Or maybe, just maybe, he was actually just fiending for a Birmingham Omelet that the pretty lady on the porch used to make him? ...egg omelet stuffed with black-eyed peas, ham, and greens. :-)

I know you’ve done a couple Chris Knight songs already but these two recommendations are off his Jealous Kind album which in my opinion’s his best. Hello Old Man or A Train Not Running. They’ll both get you thinking! Great songs.
