Wow that breaks your heart. A beautiful song set to a wonderful waltz.

Great song, great singerwriter, Hal himself retired in 2019 after being diagnosed with dementia, he passed the following year... another taken too soon....

This is the second artist I've heard sing about his own condition this way. The first, obviously, being "I'm not gonna miss you" by Glen.

Excellent choice Don, and yes it is indeed a work of art. Hal is an artist in my book, and this is a great song perfectly performed. Thanks for the wonderful reaction!

Wow, awesome song. Didn't immediately remember this one. Great stuff. Poignant and inspiring. Gives you the chills. Very powerful song so well written. Reminds me of my Dad's passing in July of 97. He was such a big, strong man, The cancer of the Liver that killed him went misdiagnosed for far to long. It was believed he only needed Gallbladder surgery. He passed in only a few week time. It was such a shock. Hal was an underrated artist in the 90's. He and Lari White were very good friends. He sang Backup on Lari's big hit "That's How You Know". They also toured together. They talked about recording a duet, but sadly that never happened.

Thanks Roger for the morning request. Hal had some real good hits in his career. I agree this is a very sad and tough subject to write/sing. Hal wrote this song for and about his own grasndfather. He released the song in 2008. Hal sang that song probably as well as could be, but it did not hold my attention. It is one of those songs that mean more to you if you had someone close to you have/die from Dementia or Alzheimer's. So my rating would be farther south of 9.0 Thanks for the reaction to the song.
