That's an awesome boat. The aqua traction looks great. I'm sure there were a lot of great times on that thing. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

You’re one of two people I’d trust implicitly with info on boats. Thank you for putting this information out.

Thanks. I wish I would’ve taken a little more time with this video but I guess it’s better than nothing.

Great video review Joe , I agree the open space the inboard provides,. Most boat owners don't build a new boat every three years :). As a 40 year auto mechanic the rotax engine with all the composite material for oil filter housings, intake, coolant , throttle body drive by wire will cause problems eventually. Carbon issues are due the injection type. I replace things like this everyday on Automobiles . Outboards are designed for many many years of use .I love the rockproof boats Very high quality builds. I'd prefer an outboard .

👏👏this is why there’s options. But to your point, Most boat owners don’t put 460 hours on a boat in 3 years either. This boat ran five days a week for nine months out of the year and also ran a fair amount over the winters. It would take the average boat owner 7-10 years to build up these hours. There are benefits to composite materials in terms of corrosion resistance etc and outboard manufactures also make use of them. I’m not aware of rotax having problems with their composites?? Outboards aren’t as simple as they used to be either. There is a hell of a lot of technology packed underneath that cowling and it’s packed tight and hard to access / work on / service. I kind of like the open layout of the rotax inboard. If there are issues they are easy to access and I can fix a lot of them myself. I agree that an outboard over the course of a lifetime could be more reliable, especially from a Japanese manufacturer. Unfortunately (very) I wouldn’t want anything from the American manufacture post Covid. I prefer inboard performance, but don’t get me wrong. If I start having a nightmare of problems with rotax, I would move away and probably go the outboard route.

@@jraymond115 you do use the hell out of your boats! . I agree Japan can build a great boat engine . I have a 2022 Honda and a 2020 Tundra . I make my living fixing American technology sad america is so behind on longevity

Didn't hear anything about rebuilding your supercharger ever 100 hours....have you?

Must be a blast running that boat...especially over ledges. I don't have the UHMW bottom so I pick my way thru when the river level allows. Good video- can't wait to see the new boat.

Thanks, guy. Definitely had some fun running this boat. Take care. Happy holidays.

Sweet boat. Have you ever had any issue with water coming over the bow? I have always kind of thought the bow of Rockproofs sit kinda low/close to the water compared to most other boats and always wondered if there was any science behind that and if it leads to much water over the front in rougher water.? I guess one obvious case that it would help is with other passengers riding in the back.

After seeing the bottom on this boat and knowing what mine with the UHMW looks like....wow. You would also think that the hard plate would help keep motor alignment after strikes.

Pulling the trigger on one of these boats soon and your videos have been a huge help! I’m going through the Talons vs. Raptor/PowerPole debate myself and was wondering why you were debating switching away from Talons? I’m leaning Raptors at the moment but see most of Rockproof’s builds come with Talons…

Nice Video Joe ! It’s probably the first one I’ve seen going into comparing the inboard Jet vs the outboard jet . I’m glad to hear that your still guiding . I’ve been out with you a couple of times , the last time was on the St. Lawrence in 2020 with my wife . I’ve been out with a lot of guides and I think you were the best . By the way are you selling that boat ?
@jraymond1159 ай бұрын
Excellent! Thanks for the feedback! I am selling this boat at some point this winter

you going with a single seat again at the helm or leaning post for rockzilla 4.0?
@jraymond1159 ай бұрын
I haven’t decided on that yet. I like the idea of having the leaning post, but it takes up more room, and on those cold winter mornings, I like to be able to sit lower and hide behind the windscreen.

I’ve heard that the superchargers have issues with high hours, is that true? Or what is your experience with them maintenance wise/issues
@jraymond1159 ай бұрын
We checked my supercharger, and the torque specs are still within their tolerance. I think the older superchargers gave more problems. Probably a lot depends on how you run it. If you let the pump cavitate and start bouncing the engine off the rev limiter, I hear that’s what’s harder on the supercharger than anything.
@rbkgoalie10009 ай бұрын
I think rotax warranties the motors for 400ish hours now. But if your concerned about the supercharger just follow the old recommended rebuild schedule which was every 2 years or 200 hours.
