Ever since Oda threw Rock D. Xebec at us, I said to myself and friends, “Shanks is Xebec’s son”. Shank’s age fits exactly within the period. Xebec has been hinted to have red hair, Shanks has red hair. It took the combination of Garp and Roger to Bring him down, currently there’s no one who can defeat shanks, as stated in the flashback by White beard pertaining Shanks duel with Mihawk. Also, how Shanks has this immunity to freely move around the world government and grant himself an audience with the gorosei. I think after his defeat, Xebec entrusted his only child to Roger and that’s why Roger himself said “it’s been ages since I last held a baby” during the Oden flashbacks.

This has been my theory as well ever since Rocks got introduced. WB told Shanks that the "scar that guy gave him" hurts every time he looks at Shanks (which is a representation of CoC filled Haki as seen with Kaido's scar, Shanks scar by BB). Also, Roger told Garp that "a newborn child has no sin", a representation that only Garp and Roger knew since they fought together and knew all the details at what happened in God Valley. Roger also mentioned to Oden that he hadn't held a baby for a long time, this meant that he held one a long time ago (could be Shanks and Buggy). Shanks is also 39 years old, the perfect age of someone who maybe Rocks' child since God Valley happened 40 years ago. One thing that eludes me about Shanks' character is his connection to the Gorosei.

Ok, so going back to Shanks at Age 9 where Buggy eats the devil fruit... Every time we see a df thats taken by a legendary crew, it has some kind of huge significance to the story. Luffy seemingly ate just some random crappy rubber fruit taken by Shanks, but he made it his own and the froot itself ends up being a huge part of the story. Blackbeard took the Darkness froot from Thatch, it seems like it was necessary to gaining the gura-gura no mi, and theres definitely some bigger significance to it due to it being called the strongest. So it would make sense in this context that the chop-chop fruit has more to it than meets the eye.

Btw Blackbeard and Shanks are introduced the same way (in a bar, and scenes are very similiar AND Luffy had more than different - contrasting encounters with BB and Shanks).

I think Shanks is a True Heir to one of the celestial dragons, and the history behind their power is why the present celestials wear the bubbles on there head. I was curious about this too, the s on Rocks and Shanks and Portgas maybe reveals a family's name, society's name or territorial name. Being rivals with Xebec, doesn't mean they were enemies, Roger possible had a wife of his Society. That's why he devotes himself to help navy since they have the same affairs of not destroying the place of his beloved wife's family. It is possible for Xebec to be that formidable was that he had a great blood in his veins, talent and a rebelious spirit, plus the event that stigmatized his heart to be furious about creating chaos in the world. What if Gol'D Roger married his sister/cousin/relative and went there to prevent him from destroying her family as well? Shanks seems to have influence in WG cause of his blood, too, he couldn't have a discussion with WG if he wasn't one of the CDs or from the families of God Valley. For him to enter to the counsil he needs to know the place, how to infiltrate, you can't enter there without Celestials picking an eye on you or asking who is this guy with hood, so he knows something before even going to make an appointment with them because he is from the same place. For example, what if Xebex makes havoc cause of the incident possible being made from WG casting out Portgas's family, a friendly family of his. What if the "s" on the end of the families implies that these Families where in the same land? Why would Xebec creates havoc and be an enemy of WB? Only was the pirates era that wanted to create?

It would be like the Monkey D. family. Luffy, Dragon, and Garp are their first names. However, by your naming logic, if anchored off the Monkey D. family, Garp's son and grandson would be named Dragon D. Garp and Luffy D. Garp!! 😂😂😂
