Great rundown. Still think this is a ridiculous amount of fork for most riders, but if you're willing to haul it to the top, good on ya! I'll stick with my 35/36mm options until I can afford to diversify the quiver with a lightweight trail bike and a monster truck.

And here I thought my rockshox pike rct3 35mm was thick enough lol
@jsv4383 жыл бұрын
It is... I have PIKES on my carbon SJ. They'll handle just about anything. It DOES make sense that these manufacturers have to keep improving designs to handle what SOME riders are in need for. There are so many riders going to FOX 38s and these ZEBs, I'll bet you only a small fraction of these riders actually NEED a f*n 38mm stanchion!! Before these models, 38s (190mm!) were only dual crown designs. I mean 36's are huge, and the PIKE 35 is very capable AM/trail and very hefty. Every time something NEW is introduced, there'll be thousands of riders chompin-at-the-bit to have the 'newest thing', or the my fork handles more than yours fork lol! It's impressive. I love the new technology making components more compatible, but just because something's new, more expensive, bigger, etc, we know it doesn't mean it's the right thing for every rider. They WILL sell them to riders that don't need them though. Hey I'm even a bit 'over-biked' w/my 150mm PIKEs and 140mm FOX DPX2, and this stuff will handle even more than I can give it. On that set-up I'm riding terrain that pro riders years ago were handling just fine on hardtails with 130mm travel! At what point are we just going to put motorcycle forks on our FS mountain bikes..? ~JSV
