this game really does work. I've have the first one since Feb of 2012 and have probably logged around 200 hours into the old (btw, I really wish there was some log that indicate total time played to show the relationship between time spend and progress) and I have made tremendous progress. I had no previous guitar playing guitar at 25 years old and thought I had no chance at my age. I now have an electric and an acoustic and know many songs, chords, riffs, scales etc. I love it!

I've noticed some people post things about technique & this game not teaching that. While I can somewhat agree that there is no real way to know for sure you are doing something correctly or holding your hands, the pick, or whatever correctly, there are tutorials available in the game that help teach all these things. Part of the problem I can see is the lack of a forced method to learn these vitals (meaning anyone can bypass the essentials because they have no attention span or just aren't interested in really learning). Of course, if it was forced down your throats, many people would probably lose interest). Take your time & use ALL the tools the game provides. You will improve. You will actually be playing a guitar. What you do with it & how far you take it is up to you.

Correct.Technique is taught in the game as well. It's just not forced onto you. I think out of everyone on the 60 day challenge this guy, brian was the weakest. Rosson the other hand definitely looked like he was using all the tutorials.

It would be so good, if there would be chord and tabs sheet section alone for every song. They are there of course along the song but its moving fast and in the beginning it would always be good go through, read your tabs and chords before starting to play or practising.

Rocksmith 2014 allows you to view the normal tab with every song, it's in the song menu.

Really, Rocksmith help on guitar learning, and it's a lot fun, i recommend it. The only problem for newbies it's the "addictions", the wrong ways of playing guitar, like a "wrong" use of pick, or not apply alternate picking. Of course, don't exist the RIGHT way to play, but if don't apply some techniques correctly, make learning process more slow and hard. Anyway, the game is fantastic, and I'm proud of developers.

It does that already. Session mode, lessons and techniques has all that stuff. I'm getting this product for my 11 year old son as he loves his Xbox 360 and is currently working to grade 2 guitar at school. This will help him no end.

I would like it if Rocksmith had more acoustic songs, stuff like Neil Young, and some of the classic Beatles songs...I dunno. Some of this hard rock isn't what I really want to learn.

I couldn't agree more Jacob! I'm a fan of all types of music, so I will say that the tracklist isn't that bad overall, but it would be nice if they mixed up some country/acoustic/folk in there too. Hopefully Ubisoft pays attention to this channel, and can see that they need to do an acoustic DLC or something.

Jacob Canter Ubisoft are having real trouble getting permission for Beatles songs. If you take a look at this infographic and surrounding text you will get a good idea of just how difficult and time-consuming the licensing process can be, and you will also see the top 40 most-requested artists/bands (although admittedly since the uploading of that infographic there has been DLC released from some of the artists in question, including Bon Jovi, Queens of the Stone Age, Slayer, Rage Against the Machine and Jimi Hendrix while some of the others even at that point already had songs available, so presumably people wanted more songs from them). blog.ubi.com/rocksmith-2014-song-request/ Within it you will also find a link to a song-request tool that is on Facebook (although you do not have to have a Facebook account to use it, you will require a Ubisoft uPlay account).

I've played the guitar for a year now and Rocksmith for 6 of those months, this game helps a lot but the problem is lack of songs that comes with just the game. And Ubisoft overcharges the DLC songs quite a bit. About 10$? For 3 songs. The other thing this game tries to tell you is. Dude if you learn all the songs and some custom songs. Good luck trying to learn on your own. Pedals, Effects, Amps. Anyway, the game is great with some bugs here and there, session mode is bullshit, low tuning is hard for the game to sort of understand (Drop C), and learning can be a pain haha. Buy the game. It worth it.

It's much easier to memorise songs on a real guitar because they follow chord structures and scales. On Guitar Hero the notes can be anything depending on who's charting them.

Ok my assessment is based on what I have seen on videos of people playing this game and they might be playing the notes, they don't seem to have any right hand technique, they appear to be typical tablature readers, Maybe my assesment is unjust but in my opinion guitars and video games don't mix, just my opinion, not to discount any benefit it may have for others

Paintball Martyr I didn't say that he won't be able to play it eventually, but at this rate something says to me that until he'll not nail that song, other things probably won't come out better, not only because it is difficult to play with yo fingers, but also due wrong timing. Nothing is impossible, that song isn't that hard, if a person runs from one thing to another only because one have met some difficulties, I wonder how he was able to start playing and kept going in the first place.

i bought rocksmith 2014 and a Jackson guitar 4 years ago and I still cant play any song. When the songs dificulty rise and start using more than one string at the time I immediately start failing. I cant play powercords or anything like that. This happens to me in every other artistic area, drawing, singing and writting even if i pay a lot for courses i never improve.

I think this is a great way to learn songs to play, but when you're not plugged into the console, are the songs retained where you can just play it from memory? Seems like a crutch. A really cool crutch, but a crutch nonetheless

I learn guitar by book. I can play the songs if i see the notebar in my book but not without it. same thing.. If you want to play the songs out of your head practise them more. what guitarsmith does have is when you are very good at the song the difficulty settings makes it so the notes dont showup on your console anymore. essentialy learning you to play out of your head.

I have played Rocksmith 2014 for 90 days, 1hr a day. Beside of having a lot of fun and some frustration, I haven't learned anything. Cannot play even one song till today. It's a fun software, well made, but don't expect to learn guitar with it. Just for fun, yes it's worth buying it!

Tuning shouldn't be too hard. After 60 days the sounds should be familiar to you. And there is also a mode where you can play the song without showing the notes. And besides, this is not to make you a complete expert, but just to learn the guitar.
