@@garrysmith1029 yeah I highly doubt that higher ups from R* are to blame when the truth of the matter is a lot of them left and were pushed out after GTA V and once GTA online took off the ground running with bags of cash and 2K started charging for EXP points is when mods were being taken down for old GTA games, Copy right claims were being striked for music on KZbin videos. That's all Taketwo. Don't get me wrong, Rockstar is responsible for many hiccups along the way like crunching workers to make games, releasing only GTA and Red Dead and then abandoning single player DLC for both which also could be attributed to TakeTwo because RDO it wasn't lucrative.

I'm gonna be honest. I wish GTA Online didn't gain as much clout as it did. Because of GTA Online, RockstarGames chose not to do GTA V story DLC, RDR2 didn't have any story dlc, RDR2 Online was abandoned, GTA V and Online was released and rebranded across 3 console generations, and only 2 games were released by Rockstar over the past 12 years instead of us getting more games. GTA Online has turned them into greedy slimeballs who have bent a knee to their corporate overlords, while they ignore their fans, release absolute dumpster fire releases like the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, release a 15 year old port of a game like RDR1 at damn near full price, and ban mod fan creations like this... RockstarGames has become scum. Yes, they make good games, but the way they treat their fans is abysmal, and they need to be called out. I'm tired of stans, white knights, and shills defending them for free; it's pathetic.

The lesson to be learned here is never annnouce your mod. Just shadow drop it. Companies like Take Two and Nintendo don’t like having fun, that’s never gonna change, that’s just how it is. So drop the mod, and even they take it down. People will re-upload it online. They can never truly take it down once it’s been uploaded.

If they didnt enforce their copyright on stuff like mods, then it makes it easier for malicious parties to steal their IP, make money on it, and argue in court “well they obviously dont care about modders using their assets without paying, so why do we have to”. Thats what you people whining about this dont get. Smaller games can get away with being looser with their IP with modders but rockstar literally cannot without hurting their ability to effectively protect their property (especially when there numerous rights owners involved in rockstar games i.e. licensed music, actors, contracted artists etc.. besides, at the end of the day, gta IS rockstar’s property. The modders were not profiting from it, it was merely a work of passion. Taking down a project so big, a couple of days after it was released, is obviously going to hurt the image of your company. Anybody wit a little knowledge of Marketing and PR could have seen this coming, I guess nobody at R* and Take Two possess even that little knowledge. I understand if someone is "jealous" or "protective" with their creations, especially when something is as big as GTA, but they could have handled the situation so much better.

The mod taken down was in no way monetized from their creators, so forcing the copyright claims on it was a sh*tty move that had no logical sense. It sucks, but I'm honestly not surprised that it happened. Rockstar has had a history of taking down mods that directly port assets from other GTA games into GTA V. It was only a matter of time that this mod also ended up taken down as well.

@@Welps222 Stole? You have to legally own and have GTA IV installed to even be able to use the mod. Same with SAUnited. It only makes your GTA 5 copy recognize files from your 4 install. It also does not contain any of the story from IV as you cant play any missions so its hardly a "replacement" or competittor for the real thing. And even if it didn't it woulnt harm R* in anyway since the chance of them planning a official GTA IV remaster is pretty much -1 000 000 000 000 000

a GTA 4 remaster can simply be done by copying a GTA 4 CE folder into another directory and then copying and pasting in Liberty Visual mod

GTA 4 is dark and realistic which means no over the top cars, guns, flying vehicles, wild customisation, etc. they want to keep tricking kids into buying useless tat with sharkcards (which is so evil because the game is supposed to be for adults). So colourful settings like LA & Miami are perfect for that. Same with COD, we'll never see WAW again because Nicki Manja sells. Rockstar should've made a "mod hub" linked to their website which allows people (fans, players of their games, and their employees) to upload mods for their games. The mods will have to be moderated to avoid releasing mods that give certain players advantages over other players.

I have no clue why it was taken down due to copyright but I have heared its due to taking assets from GTA6. Whilst its important we acknowledge the modding community who making amazing additional content should be acknowledged and heared. Instead of taking it down they should brought the devs of that mod on the team to help release it. Plus the mod being restricted to PC only unfortunately does limited the audience it can reach especially GTA RP. Its a shame it has been taken down, but I doubt rock-star is even not listening to its community.

absolutely right about present-day rockstar disrespecting GTAIV, but ya can't use stuff from V like Johnny's death as evidence. Let it go. his dlc wasn't as good as gay tony's, several characters like Packie and "Michelle" make returns, and his execution served as an intro for a much better protagonist. We had the criminal enterprise dlc released in july 2022 after gta + came out in March 2022 pro. That was one ur favourite dlcs and it improved the biker businesses and the nightclub businesses and gave them QoL features. That was one of ur favourite dlcs and it was big for you.
