Though there are many great pastrami restaurants around, this tour only covers pastrami spots that are within the city of LA, as stated in the video description, and not LA County as a whole. Sorry to disappoint with what was left out.

Belgian Fries are cooked in beef tallow, that's why they taste so good. Every fast-food joint cooked their fries in beef tallow (pre 1990s) before they were pressured into using seed oil by health activist who didn't know better.

My friend and I stayed in downtown LA on 4th off Spring. We were in walking distance from one of the really great landmarks in downtown. Philippe’s the Original is across the street from Union Station. They have the original French Dip, and it’s available in several meats. I’m a sucker for their lamb dip.

I’ve been many times to Johnny’s Pastrami on Sepulveda in West LA. I don’t think they have that Marble Rye sandwich, but it’s been too long. I need to go to Langer’s! One thing you neglected to mention. The subway station is literally right across the street. Red and Purple (I forget the new letter designation) lines. Oinkster is new to me. All looked amazing. To continue your journey, you must go to Brent’s in Northridge which is Los Angeles. The Black Pastrami Reuben is to die for. Well, a heart attack is guaranteed. LOL. The Hat, Canter’s Deli on Fairfax many famous deli’s in LA have closed, sadly.

johnie’s in jefferson park is under new ownership. all of the sides are different than what it was famous for for many years. to their credit, the new owners kept the old smoky pastrami flavor but raised the price of everything quite a bit. the place looks a lot better too, but it’s sad that the original owners weren’t able to hold on to that iconic establishment

After growing up in the San Gabriel Valley since 1970, I am biased for The World Famous Pastrami by The Original Hat on the corner of Garfield & Valley in Alhambra AND both Tops Burgers in Pasadena are also have amazing pastrami. Weather it's Tops on Walnut & Hill St or Tops on East Colorado, there both equally good. BTW; not all Hat restaurants are created equal. The Hat in the city of Glendora and city of Rosemead are subpar compared to the Original Hat in Alhambra which never lets down, the pastrami meat is always soft and thin cut but packed on, the Au-Jus from the pastrami meat is damn amazing and why I always get my bun double dipped.

@RockstarEater I live in LA but not from here. Compared to the prices of all the other places you reviewed, Dan's is a bargain.

There was Jake Levins in Milwaukee... It would have license plates from Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan there because it was worth the stop ( kid watching the different state plates.. big fun).. in a terrible part of town, no less... It's long since declined..Does anyone maybe an ex-wisconsinite know if these pastrami and corned beef restaurants in La are up to that level??.. Jakes was incredible...

My wielding instructor told us we would be having a substitute teacher because after eating a pastrami sandwich for lunch everyday for 30 yrs he going to have to have a triple bypass he asked if we had any questions I was the first to raise my hand I asked "So you know all the places to get a good pastrami which are the best?"

I've had Oinksters too. $20 dollars for such a small and I mean small pastrami sandwich. Never again.

Over 30 years ago, a friend took me to a little diner right around La Tijera and Manchester. It had diner style seating and counter seating. We went in the back, so I never saw the name of the place. This place had the best pastrami sandwiches I had ever tasted. I was sad after each bite because it meant one less bite I would have to enjoy in the minutes to come. I have tried multiple times to find it, but the area has been gentrified, and it apparently us no longer there. Does anyone know if it still exists and just changed locations? Thx.
