All of the Rocky movies are worth a watch, and then the Creed movies too, as they continue the story of the Rocky character. There's nothing else quite like this franchise where you can follow the lives of fictional characters from 1976 to 2018. For other Stallone movies, "First Blood" and "Rambo: First Blood part II" are must-watch films. His Rambo character is his most iconic role, next to Rocky. Other good films include "Cop Land," "Demolition Man," "Cliffhanger," and "Over the Top." The Expendables series is kind of a mixed bag unless you're well versed in old action movies and just get a kick out of the stacked cast in each film.

Not to excuse Paulie, but there are two things you gotta remember. One, he is Rocky's best friend, and Rocky knows who and what he is and accepts him as he is. And two, if it was not for him, Rocky and Adriane would never have gotten together.
@KimBanezАй бұрын
Yes. One thing that you see, especially in the first Rocky, is the old taking care of the guy from the neighborhood. Paulie probably grew up with Rocky. That’s also why Guzzo the loan shark took care of Rocky, and even took care of the driver.

Unfortunately, we did not test the durability of the belt I used, which snapped in about 2.5 seconds. Was only about 15 ft off the ground and I landed in the grass of our backyard, but it was enough to put my lights out for 20-30 seconds. We never told mom about that stunt.

They don't go 15 rounds now. Injuries are usually less severe. For ribs they tend to tape the abdomen to provide support, limited activity, and time for healing. Shorter fights don't guarantee an absence of injuries. Muhammed Ali suffered a broken jaw in the 2nd round of a fight with Ken Norton in 1973. That fight went 12 rounds. Imagine being hammered in the face for another 10 rounds. A rabbit punch is a hit to the back of the head or base of the skull. Very dangerous. The term goes back to a quick kill method on a rabbit.

The entire Rocky *and* Creed franchise movies are great; and I hope you both continue watching these movies. Rocky V was considered a flop when it came out. But all of the following movies double-downed with its plot lines, such that today it really fits into the whole overall franchise and considered by newer viewers to be pretty good. TBH I’m a bigger fan of other franchises. But the Rocky and Creed movies are amazing because none of them are stinkers. They’re all consistently very good to great. And that’s a real achievement considering that the movies aren’t based on prewritten, established books and are written one movie at a time. I really hope you two continue watching all nine movies!

"I just got one thing to say... to my wife at home: Yo, Adrian! I DID IT!" Fun Fact: When Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) is training for the fight, he is sparring with a smaller quicker fighter. The sparring partner is played by real life Champion Roberto Durán. Making Lemonade Fact: Originally, Adrian was supposed to be at the big fight. However, because Talia Shire was working on another movie at the time, the storyline was changed to having her stay home and watch the fight on television. The scenes of her watching the boxing match on television were shot, and then edited into the movie several months after filming once the fight scenes had finished. Incredible Run Fact: Analysis by Philadelphia locals tracked the route Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) took through the city during his training run when all the children ended up running with him. If he took this actual route from his South Philly house to the top of the Art Museum steps he would've run approximately 30.2 miles in one day - 4 miles more than a marathon. Not impossible by any means, but Rocky isn't training or built for that kind of run.
@phillyphan1225Ай бұрын
Rocky’s house to the art museum is not 30 miles. His house was in Epiphany parish at 11th & Jackson Street he ran up 9th St which is the Italian Market to the Art Museum - that is about 5 or 6 miles. The montage was definitely to show the city because the location of the gym to his house is not close, the tracks are no where on the route, etc. Mickeys gym and Rocky’s apt are in Kensington which is pretty far from South Philly. If you know the city you know this run makes no sense but it makes for a great montage. That being said, there is a marathon every year, the Rocky Run, which is 10 Miles and hits a lot of the hot spots.

A lot of movies in this era started with a recap of a decent length because other than early HBO or network TV (where they would be heavily edited), there was no way to watch them once they left theaters. VHS and Betamax players existed, but they weren't commonplace for another 5-6 years after Rocky 2. While small, independent video stores existed, the first Blockbuster didn't open until October 19, 1985 in Dallas. If you haven't watched them yet, First Blood (the first Rambo film) and Copland (a later career surprise film) are excellent looks at just how good Stallone is. Also, watch the entire Rocky series and all 3 Creed films. Other than Rocky V they're all really good and Rocky V isn't bad it just doesn't quite measure up to the rest of them.

fun ROCKY facts 1.the dog is Stallones dog 2.the apartment in first movie was stallone and his brothers 3.first film the ROCKY run they did not have permits for 4.Stallones first draft for first ROCKY was written in 3 and half days 5.first film had a different title called ROBERT BALBOA 6.Only about 10% of it made the shooting script, and there were a further nine significant re-writes. In the first draft, Adrian was Jewish and lived with her mother who hated Rocky. Mickey was a vicious racist, Apollo was Jamaican, and Rocky threw the fight at the end and, with his prize money, opened a pet store with Adrian. 7.Producers wanted burt reynolds as ROCKY 8.Because the budget was low, Sly filled in some of the minor roles with family members. His brother Frank Jr plays one of the street corner singers, his Dad, Frank Sr., is the timekeeper in the fight at the end. And his then wife, Sasha, was the still photographer on set. 9.In his audition for the part of Apollo Creed, Carl Weathers sparred with Stallone and accidentally clocked him on the chin. Sly told him to calm down and Weathers replied “if I was allowed to audition with a real actor, I could do much better.” Avildsen told him that Sly was the guy and he replied “well, maybe he’ll get better.” Sly offered him the role on the spot. 10.First film, In the original ending, Rocky meets Adrian in the tunnel, and they walk out hand in hand. Test audiences said it was too depressing, so it was re-shot. They had very few people to fill the crowd for the re-shoot, they just used family, friends and crew in this one corner of the ring. But that image of Rocky and Adrian hand in hand was used for the poster art for the film.

I don't know if you enjoy dark humor, but if you do here are two suggestions for possible future reactions: "In Bruges" and "The guard". Both are great dark comedies. The guy who wrote and directed the latter is the brother of the guy who wrote and directed the former. Brendan Gleeson has major roles in both films, I don't know if you have seen any of his work (he has worked in a lot of big films), but he is a great actor, imo.
