Alt Right Black Knight no they aren't. There is a reason every world class athlete and team has state of the art training facilities. I'm not saying u can't get a decent workout with just ur bodyweight and some creativity, but all things being equal to really reach your athletic potential your going to need actual equipment. Sport science has come a long way and there's a reason athlete today are bigger faster stronger than ever.
@SolidSD6 жыл бұрын
Alt Right Black Knight effective as compared to what? Doing nothing at all? Sure. Compared to a properly Periodization strength and conditioning program? No. My point is that it's a movie, and while the notion that willpower and determination are all you need makes for a great story, what Rocky is doing is by no stretch of the imagination smart or effective training. It sure looks cool though
@SolidSD6 жыл бұрын
Alt Right Black Knight Like I said, better than nothing? Yes. But for core work I would train the abs for what they are actually used for in a fight: isometrically contracting to take a punch, and rotational strength to deliver a punch. Axe chopping is rotational, but a cable would be better because there is a constant resistance through the whole ROM. Pressing overhead is great but the way he is doing it it has a fixed, non linear path. Would be better with a bar or dumbbells that could progressively loaded. Same with lunges with the log. A better overall lower body strength exercise would be a squat: use more weight etc. Lunges a re still good but once again if he had a bar and plates it could be progressively loaded. Roadwork is essential in boxing, but not jogging for miles at a time. A more sport specific approach would be using higher intensity intervals that mimic the length of a round. U already mentioned sparring which is a glaring hole in this plan. I would also add alot more plyo/ ballistic movements to develope power and power endurance. All in all: not a good program imo

I remember this came out Dec 1985. I had pre enlisted in the marine corps due to go to boot camp at Parris Island in July. Trained hard to get ready was heavily influenced by this then. While I was in boot camp it was just starting our sixth week I was having some trouble since my parents split I got a letter telling me so. I prayed to God one night while everyone was asleep. Two days later it was Sunday and usually we'd have church services and 3 hours leisure time. The Senior Drill Instructor allowed us to go see a movie. I had no idea what it was until it came on it was Rocky 4. I was so overwhelmed by God's grace because Rocky has always inspired me. After that my training soared beyond what anyone expected even me. Thank God for this movie. Semper Fi to my brother marines

my favourite part is the bit at the end where Rocky loses the car that was following him and then casually jogs up a mountain while Drago steps off the inclined treadmill when it pushes him to his limit. Rocky sure as hell won the training montage in that movie.
@LazaroOsle9 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Ivan was all juiced up on roids and yet he wasn't training as hard as Rocky.
@unstoppableExodia9 жыл бұрын
Lazaro Osle damn right, Rocky became stronger because he trained and fought with heart while Drago trained and fought like a machine. The Russian's calculated his training to ensure he'd be stronger than Rocky but they underestimated the impact of Rocky's unorthodox but innovative training methods.
@LazaroOsle9 жыл бұрын
Its sad though.. because in the next movie he gets like brain damage from all of Ivans punches.. : (
@unstoppableExodia9 жыл бұрын
Lazaro Osle well at least they tried to be realistic about the consequences of that fight. Even though realistically nobody could survive blows to the head from somebody who punches as hard as Ivan Drago is purported to have. No matter how hard one trains in the snow the back and sides of the skull have weak points that can be fatal if struck with enough force.
@LazaroOsle9 жыл бұрын
Thats what I love about Rocky movies they are realistic. The 80's was all about the cold war and we had no idea what Russians were up to... In the movie it was never revealed to anyone that Ivan's team of researchers (or whatever you call those dudes with lab coats) were injecting anabolic steroids into him. You would have thought they give him a drug test but we never took Russia seriously after all there threats.. Then came that fatal exhibition match were Apollo lost his life and then the movie got real deep for me, especially during the training scenes. Rocky 4 was trully an awesome movie for me

+Filip Novak Pro athlete and swimmer Michael Phelps trained in a cabin like rocky since the movie influenced and taught him it's better to be focused and determined rather to have state of the art shit, but distracted. On strength wars, a backyard body builder demolished a bodybuilder who used a gym. Also, myself using only my basement have developed a body and strength greater than all my high-school mates, no supplements, no gym, nothing like that. And these were guys who were always with their shakes and at the gym.

tell that to the hipsters that need a thousand girls watching them and their "bro hoe's" just to feel confident about themselves.

Funniest thing about this is how Rocky was training in the middle of winter in Russia, yet came to the ring tan like he was in Hawaii for a year lmao

When I was a student, I was doing muscle training while looking closely. In order to protect the current unstable world situation and family, I will continue to improve my mental and physical skills while taking care of this video again! Thank you to everyone who made Rocky 4 and everyone who uploaded it to KZbin ^ --^ w

+Mick I can It is only still in the beginning I had cancer five years back and and still go for controls once a year. After the checkup controls have ended then you can say you have beat cancer. Not untill it can always reappear. Depends on part where the basic tumor is higher the risk.
