Because the whole movie basically builds up to this moment. So, after watching everything Rocky goes through, and all the emotions already felt you’d have to be emotionally dead to not have some kind of emotion swell up when Adrian says win. Then it just makes everything else that followed that much more powerful. A Rocky movie is an experience. Their all their own experience while at the same time being the same experience in the best way. Mainly cause while the story may change different opponents show up, the core of what makes Rocky, Rocky is consistent through the films.

The deepest part for me is Mick’s reaction to Adrian when she said, “win”. Mick knew that Rocky’s heart was all in his love for his wife. He would die for her and bring her the world, no matter how impossible it may seem. Mick knew that Rocky will give 210% even though there’s only a few days left towards the fight. Rocky had a dynamic WHY, TO WIN FOR ADRIAN. If we all know our WHY, WE WILL WIN in whatever we do. At the end, you’ll say like Rocky, “ADRIAN, I DID IT”. Did what? I WON FOR YOU.

Because Rocky is a one of a kind film. It can’t be copied. It can’t be imitated. It can’t be recreated. You want the experience Rocky gave you? You gotta watch a Rocky film. Rocky was so good that it sparked a resurgence in boxing’s popularity in America that hasn’t been seen since. Which is sad. Boxing is the most American sport. It may of not been invented here. But, we are a nation of immigrants. It’s more American than Football or Baseball. It may exist elsewhere. But, there’s something about it that calls out to America specifically. And maybe people say this about the sport in their country. Or something. But, no one else has made a Rocky. Not trying to push American superiority here. That’s not the point. Either way if people get mad or bring the hate. It’s whatever.
@jessedukelacrosse64703 жыл бұрын
@@Kamina1558 well said and I agree, rocky was one of the reasons I fell in love with boxing and trained almost 18 yrs , I am a big fan of mma , love to watch the ufc , sadly it has got bigger than Boxing and I understand why , but mma will never be the poor american or immigrant that came to this country or had to fight to make a living and get his family ahead and live a better life and for those few years live the American dream and be the most popular athlete in the world
@Kamina15583 жыл бұрын
I’m a bit more partial to Boxing than mma. But, mma is good. Boxing really is the poor man’s or every man’s sport. Looking at the different training methods people have come up with when they didn’t have access to a gym or nice equipment, is an interesting area of boxing history to study. Rocky touches on this. Like Rocky Marciano made his own weights I read. And gyms used to be behind bars and random places.

@@dee6128 I'm no expert, but I do know a bit about muscle training (I'm a swim coach and that includes muscle training), and it seems weight lifting is good for building mass, but actually working with the muscles (manual labour, digging, the butchering Rocky did, calisthenics) gives them strenght. Even big guys can have a lot of power, but boxers also need to be nimble. From the little I know, boxer training is actually an amazing way to get into shape. It builds your whole body, both power and stamina, and if you get into actual combat training, you get some self-defense skills out of it, too.

1:43 is one of my favourite scenes ever. It encapsulates Rocky so well. It shows that his brute strength is not his greatest weapon, but instead his unstoppable determination in moments of difficulty. “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” The music is also perfectly composed for this moment. What a moment and what a franchise.

I wanna create an event where Mike Tyson is standing alone in the ring. When the bell rings, hundreds of kids start running and climb into the ring from all directions and Mike Tyson just clobbers each and every kid one by one. He breaks their faces, punches them causing their jaws to rip off, uppercuts them so hard they fly out of the ring, even the fat kids get punched so hard in the gut it causes a shockwave. The best part is that the audience are all the kid's parents seeing their little punk kids getting their faces blasted inside out. Losing his best friend, a man who he truly admired, respected and loved. Preparing to fight the man who killed his brother, right in front of him. Rocky didn’t need or want anyone around. Which is why he went to not only Russia to train. Why he didn’t even spar with anyone. He knew what was inside of him and when that man stood in front of him. No matter how much bigger he was, or stronger. Or the fact that he had a daily dose of the best performance enhancing drugs. An entire country hating him, not to mention his own woman telling him, “You Can’t Win!” He knew that he would unleash Pure Hell upon that man. Even if it meant him dying in the attempt. But - both movies were - to be honest - not about boxing at all. First rocky was about poor italian minority member who wanted to have a chance in life and be somebody, showed many social struggles etc. Raging Bull was about troubled, evil, but tough as they come man who had character and agression to win in the ring but in the same time to lose in the life. Living in Philadelphia as I now do it's virtually impossible for me not to feel super motivated & extra inspired after watching this amazing scene, absolutely spellbound & in total awe, all while feeling as I do these long dormant primal sensations & largely untapped powers not only stirring with palpable effect yet also beginning to surge vigorously, fervently & unstoppably, as that long buried fighter within keeps emerging from my primeval depths, thoroughly indomitable & fueled by these warrior desires kept in check no more! Love this scene immensely & deeply, nearly unrivalled as it is in terms of motivational drive & inspirational fever, just legendary & timeless, while resonating with as much power & passion as it does this poetic poignancy, even 42 years after being released. Stallone is indeed a veritable national treasure!

"Win". That's all he needed to hear! Women these days don't know how to light a fire in a man's heart the right way these days, like Adrian did. Women these days think the way of inspiring a man, is to tear him down, put him down and to demoralize him. Then she wonders why she loses in the end, one way or another. A loving woman who motivates her man like Adrian, can cause him to move mountains in this world and he'll make sure she's crowned his eternal queen, because her love will become his source of strength and he'll protect and cherish her for that. Women's words are very powerful.
