Yeah Gazzo always liked Rocky, but unfortunately, Gazzo was gunned down at a traffic light by a Polish Mobster, who's wife was cheating on him with Gazzo. After taking Gazzo's body to the morgue, the cops entered Gazzo's apartment, and the only photo found was Gazzo holding Rocky's title belt, and the two of them laughing. The mobster was then gunned down 6 months later. Witnesses said they seen a short dumpy man get in a large white VAN that had a MEAT PROCESSING LOGO on it, & sped away.

The best thing about Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed is the mutual respect. After getting beaten to death by a reigning world champion and then defeating him the first thing he says to him is "you're great" and Creed lifts his opponents arms up in acknowledgement that he's even greater. When Rocky II, came out and people went to go see it the reaction from the audience was so violent and amazing when Apollo and Rocky fell. They gasped, they got up, they were shivering from anxiety and suspense. And they were yelling at the screen for Rocky to get up. And when he finally did, they cheered, clapped like it was real. That's how good movies were back during the second golden age of Hollywood. Wish they made movies like these again. Where the audience interacted with screen again.

The thing with being the "champ" is that you're only as good as your last fight/ win. Apollo had no right to be bitter against Rocky in either fight as Rocky (although not technically a pro) was still very tough and didn't take fighting lightly. But in all fairness to Apollo... he still brought it, have a good fight and gave as good as he got.

There are only two fights I have ever seen come close to this one, in terms of being similar, The Thrilla in Manila, and Foreman vs Lyle. Had Fraizer's corner let him out to fight, I could very easily see both men punch themselves out to a double knockout, it was that brutal. And in that fight, Fraizer kept his hands down a lot like Babloa does in this fight.

Had Apollo just listened to Duke and just stayed away from Rocky for three minutes longer, he still would've been champion.Luckily, Rocky managed to switch back to his strong left and caught Apollo off guard. The rest as they say is history. Thus marks the begining of Rocky's journey as new champion.

Ed Keaton You don't understand Apollo's goal and his obsession. Rocky is the *only* boxer he has never managed to knock out. Apollo doesn't care about beating Rocky in points because people would still remember that he didn't manage to defeat Rocky just land more punches on him. As long as Rocky remains fighting everybody sees him as the "moral winner" of the fight. Above all Rocky drove Apollo furious because he didn't go down no matter how much Apollo hit him the first time they fought. For the second bout Apollo wants to prove to everybody and also to himself that Rocky can be knocked out and defeated the "boxer way". Rocky has become an obsession for Apollo. Deep down he fears he has met his match but this same fear also drives his hate against Rocky who he wants to break down at any cost. Duke warns Apollo that Rocky is able to take an unfathomable beating from Apollo and still come back for more. While Duke indeed understands that Rocky might seriously hurt Apollo and even win if the fight goes for all fifteen rounds he doesn't mention this in plain words to Apollo but instead indirectly implies Rocky cannot be beaten and they should forget about him and move on. This actually triggers Apollo even more to prove to Duke and everybody else that Rocky is "just another man" and that he, Apollo, can defeat this guy they say cannot be defeated. In Apollo's mind it's very simple: Apollo has knocked down every single opponent he has faced. This amateur boxer from Philadelphia who wasn't knocked out the first time because he has an incredible willpower and an ability to take a beating *will* be defeated by Apollo. *Nobody* can survive against Apollo. Not even this Rocky Balboa. Rocky has become Apollo's greatest challenge. He *knows* Rocky's willpower and ability to take punches is incredible. To Apollo this means he cannot break down Rocky. So for Apollo fighting Rocky and knocking him down will prove to him that Rocky can be defeated by Apollo's superior "willpower". Winning by points again? NEVER an option for Apollo in the second bout. For him it was always him knocking Rocky out or Rocky remaining undefeated.

@@dogedoge8108 Doge Doge Apollo is no fool. He understands that Duke is right and that Rocky is quite unlike anybody else Apollo has fought. What bothers Apollo is how Duke is worried by Rocky's ability to take a beating and how his willpower makes him come back for more. In Apollo's mind this indirectly means that Duke doesn't believe Rocky can be defeated. Apollo therefore is personally insulted and wants to prove that no matter how strong in spirit Rocky is Apollo is the greatest and will be able to defeat Rocky like everybody else he has fought. The only way Apollo can defeat Rocky is to break him and that means to knock him out. Rocky has become Apollo's greatest challenge although he tries to hide that fact by publicly mocking Rocky. Deep down he knows Rocky is his greatest challenger yet. Apollo knows the first bout was no fluke. An amateur boxer from Philadelphia remains the only boxer to have made Apollo go down for the count and also remain undefeated after 15 rounds. He keeps repeating the fluke line because deep down he has been humiliated. Quite simply: Apollo wants to break down Rocky's spirit. Apollo doesn't care about winning the bout by points. Rocky must go down. Duke however knows that Apollo therefore will be facing Rocky on Rocky's term and that may end up with Apollo's defeat.
