Yeah, but I think Rocky should've won that match, personally. I mean the ref should've stopped the fight as soon as he saw blood spilling out of Apollo Creed's mouth. That's what any sensible boxing referee would do in a sanctioned boxing match. (But hey, I know it's Hollywood so they took some liberties with stuff like that.)

this is the best opening of all time. makes me cry with joy for the love between Rocky and Adrian, and I would say that their acting in this clip is some of the best acting of all time. Look at all Adrians face expressions when Rocky goes down just after she comes out of the dressing room. Even her eye blinking in perect time with the right expression wanted for that shot. And the last seconds hug between them. Never seen love like that in any other film. Just incredible. Lovely moments, :-)

Yes. The Rocky sequels ALL have terrific openings. This was longer than those which were to follow. Obviously in '79 nobody was to know how things would look in later films. Notice by the time it came out it was remastered, compared to the original 1976 sound quality. They also edited the part where Micky made Rocky bleed to open his eye inbetween rounds. Apart from that, excellent.

There’s just not a damn thing bad about the first movie. Even the mistakes are amazing. Example: The costume department sending in the baggy robe, the poster having the red shorts with the white stripe, the budget being too small to have any extras at the ice-skating rink... I think “Rocky” is a phenomenon similar to the Beatles. Everything happened at the right place at the right time, each person part of it had their own uniqueness, and the combination of writing and directing/producing was a match made in heaven. It was genius for Stallone to incorporate an enhanced version of the first fight in the beginning of the second movie with the music.

So many people were so unnerved by the razor cutting the swelling of Rocky's right eyelid, that when the last moments of the first film was replayed at the beginning of this sequel, that scene was edited out.
