It's very hard to explain to people who already know Mr T what it was like to see him for the first time in this. There was no nice guy image. No warm funny feelings toward the man. He was a total unknown to everyone except a very few people who may have seen him in the "America's Toughest Bouncer" TV show (not a huge hit). So all moviegoers saw was this angry intimidating monster of a man. It was very effective. Then Stallone somehow pulled the SAME trick out of the bag with Dolph Lundgren in Rocky 4.

@Tschu Backa to each their own. I agree that 3 doesn't have the feel of authenticity that 1 and 2 have. But that's true of 4 as well. To me 1 and 2 are the gritty authentic ones. 3 and 4 are the spectacular over the top but hugely entertaining ones. 5 is an abomination (Stallone apparently agrees with that). 6 is okay at best. Not the mess that 5 is, but a totally unnecessary, redundant film. Both redundant back to earlier films, but also forward too, since Creed (aka, film 7) later came along and did elements of the same concepts better.

Stallone took a straight shoot to the chest that bruised his heart and had to be flown from British Columbia, where the movie was being filmed, to L.A. where he spent a week in the ICU because of the damage to his heart. When he was released from the hospital the studio told him that no more real punches could be thrown while filming the final fight.

I think Rocky III often gets unfairly overshadowed by Rocky IV. This film was a great blend of the more drama based previous instalments with some of the slickness and a little of the "streamlining" that would dominate part IV. As immensely enjoyable as Rocky IV is, it's light on plot and heavy on music montages. Great fun but it completely dispenses with "boring" stuff like character development and "unnecessary" dialogue. Rocky V conversely is like the hangover after the party of Rocky IV. And although it is flawed, I think it's unfairly maligned and not as bad as many people claim it to be. Including Stallone! Rocky Balboa on the other hand was a belated and unexpected gem. A fantastic film and the perfect way to end the saga.

Before "Eye of The Tiger" became the song for this movie, it was originally going to be the song "You're The Best" that went on to be used in the first "The Karate Kid" movie instead. It was used in the montage of the tournament of that movie. This movie was very responsible for Hulk Hogan becoming as popular in wrestling as he would eventually become. He was somewhat well known, but he used the movie to push him into a good guy, he would come out to Eye of the Tiger in smaller territories before eventually being hired by Vince McMahon Jr. to be the main attraction of the WWF. Hogan was working for Vince McMahon Sr. when the role in this movie got offered to Hogan and he told Hogan to not do the movie. Hogan chose the movie and Vince Sr. fired him for it and it was only when Vince Jr. took over for his dad that he hired Hogan back. Sylvester Stallone and Hogan remained friends after this and Stallone even introduced (brought Hogan out) when Hogan was inducted to the WWF/WWE Hall of Fame.

Oh captain, my captain! RIP Robin Williams... we are still waiting for the Good Will Hunting reaction too...

I was 10 when this came out and Eye of the Tiger was on repeat play in my tape player. My sister told me at the time that I wouldn't even remember the song in a few years. 38 years later and it still pumps me up.

Great reaction to Rocky 3. We all know that Clubber Lang was crazy, but now it's time to watch Rocky fight The Russian in the next installment. Can't wait to see your reaction! Your heart will soar watching the training montage scenes in Rocky 4.

For me Carl Weathers gives the best performance in this. He goes from antagonist to mentor and friend. Beating Clubber is as much about Apollo as it is Rocky.

I enjoyed how excited you were reacting to this movie. The Rocky franchise is definitely one of my favorites.

Been wondering if you were gonna do this one. I’ve been recently rewatching the movies with my younger brother (we’re on the 4th one right now).

That’s good. Rocky movies are my favorites, along with The Godfather movies. I hope he likes the Rocky movies so far
@bigboychris4464 жыл бұрын
@@bendover2790 he got a little bored during the middle parts of 1&2 but he enjoyed 3 a lot which I figured would happen. I expect him to like 4 as well. Don’t know about 5. And I don’t know about RB because I myself also haven’t seen Rocky Balboa and am waiting to watch it for the first time with him.

Show a lot of things happening at once Remind everybody of what's going on And with every shot, show a little improvement To show it all would take too long We're gonna need a montage ! Even Rocky got a montage !

Rocky is such a great writer , the last fight is basically a man facing his fear. Clubber represents it so well, never backs down, it will creep in anyway possible like a raging bull ready to drop you.. but you got to face it, head strong and realise it won't bring you down, it is "nothing", that's when Rocky switches, ain't getting scared anymore the gear frantically trying it's big swings..but it is too late, Rocky is able to duck, swing and fight it back and knock it out. What a metaphor presented in a fight.

Fun trivia: T's mum stormed out of the premiere after hearing his character's language to Adrian at the statue unveiling. Apparently she cuffed him round the head and yelled, "I didn't raise you to talk to a lady like that!"

Sly wrote the role of Clubber Lang for Mr T after seeing him box on NBC. Mr T had been on some game/stunt shows. Toughest man style competitions ending in boxing matches. Sly saw them and wrote the role for him. Mr T's signature catch phrase was inspired by Mr T's real life words to Bryant Gumbel in one of those TV shows. Mr T told him, "I just feel sorry for the guy who I have to box. I just feel real sorry for him." Sly turned that into, "I pity the fool." And history was made. 5:17 That is no camera trick. Stallone is 5'10" and Terry "Hulk" Hogan is 6'7".

react to Karate Kid 1 and 2, same director and music director as Rocky. Then watch the Cobra Kai series. ;) .. Some cool Rocky references in it...
