One thing that get's me about this plot is that Mickey hand-picked Rocky's opponents for three years and nobody but Clubber Lang seems to have noticed? Nobody else? No sports writers? No commentators? No talk show hosts asked "WTF Rock? Why aren't you fighting ranked contenders?" Rocky himself didn't notice that the guys he was fighting were nobodies?

During athe apartment scene in Rocky 1 it was 2 days after Thanksgiving 1975 . Mickey said he was 76 years old. Which means that he would have been born in 1899. But in this movie on the tombstone it says born 1905 and dies in 1981 at 76. I read Mr. T's autobiography. He was Leon Spink's bodyguard.

🙂Many people don't like Clubber Lang/Mr T personality in this movie but in all fairness he had a VERY GREAT/LEGIT reason for going after Rocky so hard... He's honestly not much of a villain just a guy doing what he has to do to get his shot at something he earned and deserves...Clubber fought his way up to Rocky's level fair and square and Mickey was denying him the chance or SHOT to become heavyweight champ for 3 years all while watching Rocky take easy fights that Mick was picking for him... that would piss ANYBODY off who worked very hard...... Just thought I would throw that out there...lol

1. My favorite of the first 4 movies. 2. Where I lived had that pinball machine and I kicked the shit out of it. (Top 5 scores) 3. Rocky doesn't have defense. He beats you to hell with his face. 4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You". 5. If you can get it a great Burgess Meredith movie to first time/share is the original "Clash of the Titans".

I was only 5 when this came out but vividly remember seeing it in the theater. Was just me and my pop and the most memorable part was how hyped he got for that Eye of the Tiger song. My pop loved his hype songs. Kinda hit me hard thinking about it now, realizing he was 40 at the time and I'm already 44. But yeah, that freeze frame shot of Rock and Apollo throwing punches and that song kicking in, my pops was mad hyped, out of his theater chair shadow boxing and shit. Ha. Then I remember on the drive back the damn song came on the radio, already a hit song on the radio as soon as that movie came out, and pops was rockin out so hard while driving he about damn smashed the entire dashboard off. Thanks again, Showdown. Good stuff.

Paulie I don’t think he’s racist I think he was brought up that way, but he learned after being with Apollo an other black fighters for a period of time, he learned skin colour doesn’t matter that’s why he an Apollo had that moment, it wasn’t just rocky training, it was paulie being educated as well, it shows in rocky 4, Apollo has paulie in his corner, but fantastic reaction can’t wait for rocky 4 an 5 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥

Rocky 3 was my introduction to the series. While 4 is my favourite, Rocky 3 will always have a special place for me. Mr T was great in the antagonist role, and honestly, I remember that I was cheering for him over Rocky. I also cheered for Dolph in 4, though, so maybe there's a pattern there.

So with all that money - Mickey was laying on a table in the locker room during the entire fight, and died without medical staff to take him a hospital.

As much as it kills us and especially the character rocky to see mickey die especially lije that. I don't think he wanted to go to all the trouble of being messed about moved from that table to go to the hospital or have any medical staff see to him. Mickey was pretty old and his body had enough, so i think he just wanted to go and R.I.P. I think that was Mickey's final wish. It's very hard scene to watch and gets just as hard everytime i watch it on tv or on DVD/ blu - ray, it hurts to see him in pain , deteriorating and his body shutting down gradually more and more , but it's his time to go and rest for his own sake , even though it hurts us viewers / the audience and especially Rocky , adrian and polly to see him die that way. Enough was enough for Mickey's body to carry on any more. Mickey had done everything he possibly coukd to look after rocky's health and train him to be the best boxer to the best of his abilty. It was also a great moment for apollo to come on the scene and train Rocky almost everything apollo knew ,plus appolo training rocky and making rocky win was apollo's revenge to clubber lang for him being disrespectful to apollo in the first clubber lang vs Rocky fight. I think it was a way for Apollo to get back at clubber lang.

On Mickey's headstone it says April 7th 1905 to August 15th 1981 that would make him 76 years old when he died if you recall the speech that Mickey made in the 1976 original film Rocky when he went into his apartment to try to become his manager he was knocking on the bathroom door and he said I am 76 years old that's a little bit of an error on their part he should be 81 at this point

Carl Weathers was great in these movies as Apollo Creed. I enjoyed Action Jackson also. Another iconic role for Burgess Meredith was the Penguin in the '60s Batman Series and movie.

And the context for how Rocky came from nothing and was given a shot offended Clubber, especially when he felt Rocky wouldn't grant him that same chance, even though - unlike Rocky - he actually earned it.
