When Mickey said he was going on a "permanent vacation" (remember he got chest pains during that wrestling match) I think he just knew that his time was about up (he was already 70 when he and Rocky first met) but of course didn't want to worry Rocky. He insisted Rocky go ahead and fight because he didn't want Rocky to see him like that (he went near unconscious right after Rocky left). Mickey didn't go to the hospital because he already knew it'd be pointless and wanted to at least be there to say goodbye to Rocky.

In terms of skill.. Apollo was by far the superior boxer. Apollo really beat Rocky the 2nd fight but Apollos pride made him go for the knockout when he could have stayed away because Apollo had won more rounds. Now Rocky just had the bigger heart and could take more punishment. That is what made Rocky special.

It was more than just pride, there was no way Apollo could win on points again like the first fight, he would never have lived that down or been able to live with it himself.... Well I guess that's still pride lol, but it's many layers of pride all stacked on top of each other. Plus knowing that you are the superior boxer, I imagine that would be an impossible pill to swallow, so he had no choice. If you have no choice, is it still pride? I just read this back... clearly I don't know what I'm talking about lol.

1. My favorite of the Rocky movies. Rocky IV is almost as good as this. 2. Where I lived had that pinball machine and the Playboy machine where I kicked the crap out of both of them. (Top 5 scores) 3. Micky's death shakes everyone. 4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You". 5. The woman swooning over Rocky that Micky chases away was Sly's wife IRL 6. Kudos to Mr. T for playing a man with absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Clubber Lang is an interesting character in this movie. He's not wrong for being so angry and frustrated. He IS the number one contender and Mickey was clearly avoiding him. In his eyes, Rocky is only champion because he hit the lotto when Apollo picked him (literally out of a book) as a replacement for a title shot. For him, Rocky isn't giving him the same chance Apollo gave him, even though Clubber actually EARNED it by beating all of the other top contenders. I hate him a lot less as a "villain" as a result.

I love how Rocky is a devout Catholic, he loved Mick enough to give him a proper Jewish funeral. Similar to how Mick prayed with him in church back in Rocky 2.

During many years, I considered the first 10 minutes of this film like the most spectacular introduction in cinema history. Spetially, due to the music "Eye of the Tiger" playing while a summary of a successful Rocky history is displayed. So it was, until "Contact" took the podium.

This movie was what actually made Hulk Hogan a mainstream celebrity. According to Hogan (Which means you should take this story with a pinch of salt) he was handed a note one night after a wrestling match saying Sylvester Stallone wanted to meet him. Hogan thought it was the other wrestlers pranking him and threw the note away. But Stallone did eventually get hold of him and asked him to star in this movie. Hogan was also fired from the WWF by Vince Mcmahon Sr for doing this movie. Hogan went to the AWA promotion and wrestled for a couple of ýears and started the whole Hulkamania thing in the AWA before Vince Mcmahon Jr brought him back to the WWF in late 1983. The rest as they say is history.

Great reaction Reema. As others have said this is my favorite Rocky. Not for the fighting, but because the two rivals become friends and brothers. Rocky always respected and admired Apollo and Apollo respected and admired Rocky's heart, humility and determination. Yes, Apollo was a far superior boxer and Rocky getting the blessing of being trained by him shows how much both men have grown. I love that it shows you can be rivals and still have great respect, admiration, and caring. I love how they are like brothers at the end. If you notice too in this Rocky took page out of Apollo's book and started messing psychologically with Lang in 2nd fight. Both Apollo and Rocky are both great men. :)

Rocky did NOT work his way up. He was given an opportunity out of the blue or some sort of PR stunt to fight the "heavy weight champion of the world" for his FIRST fight. That does NOT happen. That is not working your way up. He was then given "set ups" to keep him protected. Clubbers heckling at Rocky has very relevant life lessons whilst providing a remarkable insight into understanding human psychology, greed and power. People need to listen more to that scene and stop automatically getting on the defensive just because its Stallone and Rocky.

rocky marciano was an extremely small heavyweight that was usually punched repeatedly in his fights, but powered through for the knockout.. jersey joe walcott was a much superior boxer that said he would put rocky out in the first or second round, but marciano powered through round after round, catching joe on the chin for the knockout.. marciano decided to retire early, avoiding the next generation of fighters that wouldv likely beat him, saying that he'd learned from joe lewis' mistake of not retiring while he was on top.. though he retired with a perfect record undefeated, he was decapitated in an airplane crash, and probably wasnt knocked out by that either.. but he did die from it eventually

for me I watched the 2nd one first and Creed was the perfect antagonist so much muscle soo fast and the third I had never seen Mr T before and he was even better... with that attitude and the mohawk and the feathers and brown leather....Dolph was great but that hair just ruined it and the size differential was unrealistic... Morrison was okay but not really Tarver same thing... your reaction was great I cried 3x and I've seen this a billion times already

I recommended that you react to the new directors cut of Rocky 4 that Sly made during the epidemic. It's called "Rocky vs. Drago". It fits the tone of the other movies much better. Lesser Cold War propaganda and lesser 80s cheese. Since you have seen the original already. I'm a huge Rocky nerd who have seen Rocky 4 soo many times and I prefer the new cut! For me this is the most frustrating Rocky/Creed film. It's keeping one foot in down-to-earth drama (Mickey's death and Rocky's confidence-knock being the best examples) but it's steering towards cartoonish action like the Thunderlips fight. Also, the final fight is so one-sided and short that it feels anti-climactic.

saw this movie when it first came out at the theaters. I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God cannot stand one iota of sin in His presence, because He is holy. so God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps: 1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost. 2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell). 3. believe that Jesus (who is God in the flesh) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins. 4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of faith and your self-righteous works). 5. pray to God NOW that you're following these steps because if you die before making this decision, it's too late.
