This was our day driving through and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park during our vacation road trip. We wanted to visit the Bear lake area but it was closed off. The place was much more busy then I expected it to be in mid August. Definitely plan to be there bright and early to try and beat the crowds.

Finally came on over from your shop channel. It works out for me to catch these as well because my pops and I take 3 or 4 long touring trips on bikes every year. Been taking these trips with him for over 15 years, only in the last 3 years has it been on motorcycles. Wish I would have known about this channel sooner. You and abbey are awesome. Best wishes, brother.

So many times I have ended up in Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park on vacations, I wish you guys had got to go to Bear Lake and Sprague Lake they are so beautiful ... but if you're like me you will end up here again, walking along the river in downtown Estes is also beautiful ... enjoyed your video

Vertical dirt and rocks. I remember my first views of NM going to boy scout camp. The cool weather and cold water were amazing. Nice video!! I don't miss the mountain topping for work thought. Climbing those forest service roads was a pain at times, and the high altitudes make every thing more difficult. I don't miss wheezing like a carp out of water.

The Alluvial Fan area that you showed earlier was formed in 1982 when a dam further up burst. flooding the park and Estes Park. It is a cool area of the park itself. It is nice that you had somebody with you that knows the park well.

Did that trip a few years ago in reverse, stared in Grand Lake then to Estes Park in a motor home pulling a car. The motor home huffed and puffed a lot like you did at 11000 feet. You make very good videos

As a youth, I hiked up the Old Fall River Road from near the Park entrance to the top point of Trail Ridge Road ( Alpine Visitor Center) . A lot shorter than the drive up 'cause it's a straight-shot up -- 4,000 vertical feet in 12 miles Quite a hike -- 4hrs up; and 2 hrs down (mostly 'cause a thunder, lightning and hail storm moved in while I was at the top. .... no shelter 'til I got down below the tree line ! ...... a 4 mile downhill run .) .. and no, I couldn't do it today . .

I'm glad you got to check out the park, it's one of my favorite places I've ever been and I'm heading back there next week. If you make it back hiking up to emerald lake from bear lake is definitely worth it.

Most of the rocks you see are from somewhere far-far away, delivered by your friendly Glacier Delivery Service. There are some boulders in Central Park (NYC) that have big "scratches" on them from debris pushed along by a glacier. We used to challenge the kids to find scratched boulders when we went hiking in the Rockies.

That "River" is the Big Thompson, and the damage your seeing is most likely from the big flood of 2013. I live in Cheyenne and I try to get to Estes and RMNP at least twice a year. Also, you should have asked if the in park shuttles where still running. A great way to see the park.

The river near the end of the video would be the Colorado River. The firs river where the disastrous flood occured (several times) was the Fall River.

It is caused by the mountain pine beetle, and not allowing forest fires to clear out undergrowth on a regular basis.
