This is a great price to live on the ocean. I have stayed in that park and will be again. I love the place!

You make some good points about the costs for staying in Penasco. One thing though, and something that is often skipped over about this place is that from June all the way into October that place is one of the hottest on the planet. With 90+ and even 100 degrees common plus a consistent 90% humidity. I lived there year round for a few years until the summer heat made me absolutely physically ill and then could no longer stand it. Great climate winter and spring for Gringos.
@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, with that kind of heat I would guess you are using a lot of electricity to keep your RV cool. Being right on the beach though probably gives you a bit of a breeze and you can always take a swim if it gets too hot.
@timlombardini35565 жыл бұрын
@@ToGoIsToKnow it got so that the water at Sandy Beach was too hot to go in. Used to try Mirador or even Cholla Bay at night.

I think the point you are missing is you are sleeping in your own bed. It is a house on wheels.
@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
You could be right since I have never tried it. I'm just looking at it from a cost perspective. An RV is less desirable than a fixed house or apartment because it is smaller, no sewage, electric from a generator, an engine and gas to worry about, etc. Since it is not as good as a house and doesn't have any expensive land you need to pay real estate taxes to like a house, then it should cost less than a house to live in. If living in an RV approaches or exceeds the cost of living in a house/apartment then it defeats the purpose and should only attract people who love it no matter what the price. I am talking about people who live in them permanently, not people who take a few weeks/months vacation a year.

The prices did seem a lot higher than i was expecting. I'm guessing it's because this is one of the safer places in Mexico that provides RV services. I've been searching and searching for RV parks in Mexico and i haven't been able to find any. I wanted to go there with a travel trailer for the low cost of living but needed to stay within the border region as that will allow you to stay there all year. I'm not sure but i don't think the people in this RV park can stay there 365 days a year. This region is well past the border region and requires a travel visa for which you would have to return to the United States after 3 months. Great video as it's one of the only ones on KZbin that discusses this topic. Thanks
@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did this video from the point of view of someone who is not an RVer and is just comparing the cost of this park with other cheap living options. There is another RV park close by but I think they do not have a sewer hook up. From the Google reviews it seems pretty good. Too bad I won't be in Rocky Point anytime soon because I would like to compare the prices on this other park. It is Concha del Mar Campground & RV Park.

Compared to other RV parks, it's not cheap. That's the whole point of this video. Maybe you're wealthy and it's cheap to you. But to most ordinary Americans that have paid to stay in an RV park, these prices are very high.

@@klwthe3rd You are obviously not an RVer. These prices are completely reasonable, especially for being ON THE BEACH!! I’ve seen RV Parks on the beach in the states that we’re over $100 a night. For a lot of us, These RVs are our homes! Owning an RV is much cheaper than owning a house! Maybe it would be better to do videos about something that you’re more familiar with…….
@MJBrewerАй бұрын
Actually, RVs do depreciate more than travel trailers, but in the event of a typhoon or hurricane, with forewarning, the ability of leaving with your belongings seems more likely than from the hotel. Would you agree?
@ToGoIsToKnowКүн бұрын
I think it would be easier to flee an area by car that with a trailer or RV.

I've stayed there. I'm backed up to the beach, there's a party atmosphere around me and I'm paying like $24 at the time. Don't know what you're used to, but I thought I struck gold.
@ToGoIsToKnow4 жыл бұрын
I am not an RVer so I can't compare it to my experience. I only look at it in comparison to a long term rental, but I think the comparison should be for a short term hotel room. In that case, $24 a night is pretty good.

Yes, I agree. My talk in this video is geared more towards people who are RVing because they assume it is automatically cheaper than renting an apartment. Of course everyone has a different budget and if you are in some $300K RV you are probably not too worried about paying $700 a month for the lot rental.
@jimg26032 жыл бұрын
Expensive? Those are killer prices. People who have RVs will usually prefer to stay in their own place, sleep on their own bed, cook in their own kitchen, etc. If you aren’t an RVer, then you probably wouldn’t understand.

@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
Billy, I do not know much about RVs and RV parks so I believe you that these prices are fair for an RV park. I'm saying that the cost of staying in an RV park is similar to what you can rent an apartment for instead of just renting a parking space where you have to bring your own RV. If you are just doing a trip for a month or two, that's fine. If you are doing this as an alternative to a house or apartment because you think it is a cheaper way to live, then I think you will find that it is not. Everyone's situation is different.
@billyjohnson91665 жыл бұрын

@Thezellofamily Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the tour of the RV resort. However, for people who OWN RVs, it is really a good deal to rent out a spot at an RV park like this for a weekend or week vacation. You have to consider that this is WAY WAY cheaper and closer for AZ residents than California. You also have to consider that Mexico is a foreign country and the protection offered by staying at a resort or RV park is really a necessity. We don't have the same "rights" as we do in the US if we get into trouble. So, sure, it's cheaper to stay in some rinky dink place in town. I strongly advise against doing that for your own safety. That said, $24 a night for beach parking and full amenities is a bargain IMO if you already own an RV. If you don't, then STAY AT A RESORT. Don't buy an RV for the sake of going to this RV park. The resorts are really nice and most of the rooms are own by US residents. It's actually pretty damn hard to buy a house in Mexico if you aren't Mexican -- you really are stuck buying a condo or room that shares public space with other residents. We stayed at a different RV park than this one in Mexico, so I was just interested in seeing what it looks like before we booked our next trip. For that reason, your video was useful.

Thank you for the detailed comment. Many RVers had also said that this price is a good deal for what it is.
@digitalsniper20553 жыл бұрын
Considering that most of RVs are made of cheap materials that don't stand the test of time (and nature), I think some nut cases who purchase expensive RVs believe THEIR rig is weather proof and energy efficient. Good luck paying for your diesel, leak repairs after every rainy season, not to mention that one day you RV will break down just like any heavy duty vehicle, which will cost you thousands of dollars to repair. I owned RV for 3 years and I know what I am talking about. Yes, RVs are horrible investments and are hard to get rid of when they leak or soak up moisture sitting by the shore for years. Thanks for this video and your truthful opinion.
@ToGoIsToKnow3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I think you are the first person to agree with me in the 2 years or so that this video has been up. Most people who own RVs seem to get really defensive when I say it is not a very good investment.

@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
You are right, I have not been to many RV parks. Maybe the price is cheap relative to other RV parks, but it is not really cheap relative to other options like renting an apartment. I look at the costs associated with RVs and see if it is a cheaper alternative to renting or buying a small house. In many cases it is not. This is a surprise to me because I thought RVs were a good way to live simply and cheaply.
@klwthe3rd5 жыл бұрын
You are the one that hasn't stay in a lot of RV parks. The prices in this park are NOT cheap. In the United States, you can stay in a RV park for a month for less than $300.00. This is Mexico. Not Beverly Hills. The expected price of a monthly RV park should be way less than what you pay in the United States. $500.00 plus to start is really high. The creator of this video was spot on with his commentary.
@miltonchaires86445 жыл бұрын
For me is cheap compared to Rv parks in California with ocean views And we don’t have that kind of beach here in California of course if you compare to parks that are in the mountains or in the desert this one is probably too expensive by the way I didn’t know that Beverly Hills has RV parking thank you for letting me know I will try to rent one for less than $30
@klwthe3rd5 жыл бұрын
@@miltonchaires8644 Well you need to get out and see other parks besides just in one state California before you make that assessment. You should know that EVERYTHING in California is wicked expensive compared to the rest of the country. The rest of the country is much more realistic with its pricing.

So you are doing an RV blog, WHY???
@Roma77-4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video but please don't give your opinion on price when you don't own an actual RV. There are many, many reasons that people buy and RV. Having your personal goods, your food, and your pets with you are just a few reasons. Those type of benefits are why people with RVs don't enjoy public hotels. Staying at some run down hotel inland to save $200 a month is not worth it compared to what you get from your own RV. Please educate yourself on what RVs provide before posting a video talking negatively about an RV location or their prices. It is missleading and unfair to the owners of that property.
@ToGoIsToKnow4 жыл бұрын
You are right in that I know nothing about RVs or the lifestyle.I am looking at it strictly from a personal finance angle. Like cars, all RVs depreciate to zero. Like a car, it is an expense , not an investment. I did not say the park is good or bad. I just said the price and talked about alternatives to RV in terms on renting.

Good advice for not buying a RV.
@ToGoIsToKnow5 жыл бұрын
In most cases it is not a good idea to buy an RV when you consider the monthly cost of the RV park, and depreciation on the RV. If you are renting one for a trip, that's fine. If you think you will be saving money over renting or a mortgage by living in an RV, I think you will find it is actually more expensive. I think most of the people who watch this video are already convinced that they want to live in an RV. That is probably why this video has about as much thumbs down votes as thumbs up votes.
