After spending time in Quartzsite and Lake Havasu, we are Traveling to Mexico! Sine we were going to Puerto Penasco, we decided to cross at the Lukeville border crossing. We were very nervous during the process and it shows in the video. Let us know if you have driven across the border and what was your experience. Thank you for watching and don't forget to hit the subscribe button.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. FMM - www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/e... ($31 approx. per person & required if staying over 7 days)
2. Passport & DL - make copies
3. Car Insurance - make copies (we used www.mexpro.com/)
4. Registration for all vehicles & trailers - make copies (if you have a lien on your vehicle, you will need special authorization from your lien holder)
5. Pesos (recommended)
6. Have some cash USD / Canadian (recommended)
7. Download Google Map OFFLINE for your entire route. Just incase you don't have reception.
8. Cell phone - we used Cricket Wireless & we got a Telcel SIM after getting here (Telcel sucked just saying)
9. Some raw/frozen meats are not allowed. I would look it up and be prepared.
10. Drive the speed limit and enjoy your trip.
11. Join facebook groups like:
groups/27211...

These groups share valuable information e.g. current updates/news, road closures etc.

Looks fun! I stayed with a Mexican host in the US at an Airbnb. He showed me around Juarez since he is from there. Very cool to see.

Hello, I am mexican. The people from United States that want to visit Mexico dont worry! Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) or Arizona Beach is a very popular zone from americans, so the peeople are going to speak english for you. Obviously the people of my country don't speak english very good. So visit Mexico withouth problems!!!

Hi you guys nice rig! I was there in my 2017 lance truck Camper and they waved me through both times . No Problemo! I’d go with a FMM this time in case I decide to fo to San Felipe! I’m hearing Diesel is cheaper in Mexico but will see! I’m sure we will get stopped more because of our expensive looking Rigs, but Everyone was super Nice last time! I stayed at the The Port on the street a half block from the Malecon! Hope to see you guys there! Yippee! Curtis

I agree, currently diesel is cheaper here. I think it has gone up but not like what we’re seeing in the states.

Hi there! Ahhh.. Rocky Point! That is where my first trip to Mexico was; maybe in like 1987 or 88ish. It was a week of life sustained on mega bags (like what you would expect from Costco now) of animal crackers and tequila. We had a "rental cabin", which was an unfinished building that was just cinder block walls and cement floor. But...the shower and toilet worked. Basically, it was camping inside. It still looks pretty there though! Safe travels

Have you been back since? We enjoyed our trip there but after seeing Baja, realized we wanted more than just PP.

@@rvseeingyou no...I have never been back. Since then, I have been to Ensenada a few times, San Felipe, Bahia de Los Angeles, Loretto, La Paz, and San Jose del Cabo. I really liked the colonial section of Loreto, but it is a bit too small for me. After that, La Paz was my favorite city on the Baja. Oh..I forgot the other aspect of Rocky Point. These cabins we stayed in were in a fairly big circle to each other. The Rocky Point jail was an old Chevy van, on blocks, all of the windows knocked out and rebar welded to the window areas; and a huge chain on the back door. Yes....we did wake up one morning with somebody in there hehehe

@@campingalan we really enjoyed our time in Loreto as well. It’s small but it has everything you need.

Been to Organ Pipe Cactus NM many times but have only gone to Baja once in the mid 90’s. Just a 4x4 truck and tent but had a great time and very interesting. Don’t know if they still have all the check points as you drive.
@rvseeingyou
@rvseeingyou 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, not sure if the check points are in the same locations but we've gone through at least 4 since crossing. Thankfully, they have all been pretty painless! We visited Organ Pipe, AZ just before we crossed.

@@rvseeingyou back in the day they would hold you at the check point waiting for a bribe. I had one try so I finally just leaned against my truck and started asking questions like I had all day and wasn’t in a hurry. They finally told me to go. I was told that everyone served in the military and they needed something for them to do.

Wow, that area right after the border crossing had a 30KPH speed limit! That is slow. . . like school crossing zone speed. How long was that stretch, and what was the speed limit for most of the rest of the highway?
@rvseeingyou
@rvseeingyou Жыл бұрын
I think that was the only stretch with that low speed. It got up to 80 or 90 at some points but others were passing me easily. I was the only one doing the limit lol

Hi Kana, they didn’t ask for any documents until we asked to get our FMM stamped! You WILL need either your passport, passport ID or real ID (preferably one of the first two) to re enter the USA.
