I adopted a dog that was this shut down, wouldn’t stand or walk. Very skinny and full of fleas. Wouldn’t go through doors or up stairs and with a busy environment would have a meltdown, sounded like you were killing him. Took a little time and turned into the best dog. Had him for 12 years and lost him a couple of months ago, he is greatly missed.

That "I'm not here, you can't see me" melting into the wall literally broke me! I rescued a great dane who had been starved and abused her whole two years, and when I met her she was trying so hard to curl into a ball the size of a chihuahua, shaking like a leaf and trying so hard to be invisible. She was my best friend, absolute soulmate for six amazing, beautiful, far too short years! I was 14 when I found her, and since then I have always rescued, and always picked the dog that needs the most support, that everyone else walks past. The dog that's curled up in the corner, wondering if they'll ever know love again. THAT is my dog, and every dog I've rescued has shown themselves to be a dog in a million!

I'm a veteran with PTSD and your videos are so relaxing. I can empathize with each dog so much when they are tight and forcing themselves into a wall. I can see their emotions in their eyes, the fear. Then, when you get them to relax, I can feel your happiness, and the dog's relaxation states kick in. It feels amazing. When Princess goes from tight muscles cowering in your lap to eating treats and panting and actually feeling good being held, its so nice. :D Thank you for what you do!

Why don't you adopt a dog? Dogs are great for PTSD! You can help each other!!
@jill77598 күн бұрын
@@calimero600Many veterans do have dogs for just that reason. Dogs are so great for so many of our vets who suffer with PTSD. Dogs are very good for anyone who suffers from a variety of such mental stressors, not just those that come from military service. Did you know that just petting a dog is mentally beneficial, people who have them live longer than those who do not. I’ve been a nurse my whole life, since I was 17 years old and that’s many, many years. I wouldn’t trade those years but all those years primarily in the ER cannot help but leave their mark on your soul. There are faces in my mind that will never leave. Could I recommend a cat? My old lady is 15, her health is going, and so is mine. So far, she’s great. Overweight, but happy and playing. Eating like the pot bellied pig she looks like. But she has cancer. I’ve decided against treatment. It’s not money. She is a dignified old lady, still loving toys and being a boss. I won’t cause, or allow that to change. When it’s time, I’ll do the right thing. I always wanted a solid grey cat. I’ve had a few, over the years. They died, before I could get them grown. My daughter has promised me a grey kitten, when sassy crosses the rainbow bridge. I also have a ferret. I DO NOT RECOMMEND A FERRET. I love her with an intensity that runs my life, but she is chaos in furry noodle form. I’m not being disloyal to my current critters, but, I need a critter to love, and a cat is peaceful.

I had a beautiful Husky named Zeus. Rescued him from a breeding farm & he had fleas & internal parasites. Went straight to the vet, got him healthy and he lived to 13. We had to say goodbye this past May due to old age and the pain due to his old age. During those years, we rescued a dozen cats from the streets and Zeus loved them all. Since his passing, I've thought about rescuing another dog, but finding one that can live peacefully with all our cats has proved very difficult. So far, we haven't found that special dog. I wonder if Princess has had positive interactions with felines. I'll be following her progress and praying for a beauty family to give her a new life with them. She's soooo precious and the Momma in me wants to wrap her in my arms, sing softly and shower her in kisses and cuddles. Thanks Rocky for your beautiful heart. Your purpose is so important! God Bless

Have a dog that acts and looks a lot like this one. She's 12 now, still doesn't care much to be pet, doesn't show affection. But she likes to be close to us. Sometimes if they've been abused, that's all they have to give. We love Luna, and believe she loves us, she just doesn't know how to show it. We don't mind, she gives us the best of what she can, and we do the same. It's sad when they're this broken.

I love what you said here. Our adopted dog was not abused - she was 6 months old when we got her and now that she’s 2 years old - her whole world is tennis balls. She absolutely has no off button when it comes to throwing the tennis ball around in the back yard. She’s not shutdown by any means. I will say was hoping for a more affectionate dog but she’s not the most affectionate girl. However, just because a dog isn’t exactly what you want it to be, doesn’t mean that dog is a “throw away”. Just like people have their own personalities, so do dogs. That doesn’t make them any less in need of love or an outsider that people should get rid of. I accept her for who she is and love her all the same. ❤
@tracygarnet63923 күн бұрын
@@tevssn I think that's wonderful! Just accept her as she is. So many won't take the time. We've had Luna since she was about 2 (the vet was guessing). On the way to work one day, I saw a man trying to chase her into a road busy with dump trumps working the area. The next time I saw her, he was in his yard beating her with large stick. She was very abused. I stopped to talk to him about her one day and he told me he was going to kill her, I offered him money that if he could get his hands on her (and don't hit her!) I'd be back and pay him. She's never had a hand raised to her since, other than out of love. Luna (Lulu) is our sweet, shy baby :)

Huskys are emotionally very fragile. It is said that dogs are like 3 year olds but with Huskys it is more like a 2 year old. They have an amazing capacity and need for love ... more than any dog I have ever owned and I'm old. This Husky had gotten to the point in its life when it knew it was loved and returned that love. That is why she is so crushed because losing the owner she loves and she knew loved her is devastating to such a soul. Her story, what we can make of it is very sad. Huskys who do not act like this in shelter do so because their owners didn't genuinely love them and so they had not loved the owner. Huskys often behave detached. This increases if they have no attachment to their owner. They are just owner. The last Husky I rescued was so feral when I got her all the neighbors were afraid of her. It took a lot of time and patience but a year later she is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet and she obeys me ... most of the time (she's still a Husky). She has never had any training of any kind (she can sit) but she is sweet because she knows she is safe and obedient because she loves and is loved. Very few people truly understands these dogs. For an initial meeting you did everything right. They love the sound of a human voice. It calms them. It doesn't matter what you say.

I chose to go homeless to keep my dog. So glad I did. BTW I am disabled and elderly. I have taken on 4 dogs since the passing of my best friend. I believe he would be pleased with me because he used to take me to dogs that had been run over but we're alive. He saved a mother in the middle of a night where she was having babies in a football field. Yes sir! He was amazing.

@@annebergwall1018 Exactly! We have a saying in my family that's been passed on for generations: "Don't judge people and circumstances that you don't know. Good people can find themselves in bad circumstances. Be grateful it isn't you, and know that it could have been." It's often easier said than done when I'm really upset about something, but I have always tried my best to reel myself in and live by that. A couple of really hard knocks in life have made it a lot easier. I don't judge what I don't know anymore.

@Jekama3810 күн бұрын
She definitely needs to go to a rescue. The extent she has shutdown is going to take a lot of time and patience to get her out of that fear state. I definitely think she was never socialized, never gone on walks and most likely has been confined to a backyard most of her life.
@XallySucks9 күн бұрын
I totally agree. Much of her behavior seems to be due to fear, but I get the sense a lot of it is also due to just not knowing how to be a dog, or what normal dogs like to do. It's hard to coax a dog out of such a devastating state of mind when they have no reference for anything joyous or fun that more socialized dogs would be looking out for.

Around where I live there was a homeless guy once. He and his dog were struggling but any money he had would go immediately into the dog before himself. I remember his face so clearly when we gave him some dog food and money for him to spend on himself. We had left over food that both of our dogs weren't reacting well with. Both the man and the dog were so happy I'll never forget that moment ❤

I have never seen a dog more shut down as Princess was during the first half of this video. Some of these dogs truly need more time with you than other dogs. She is such a gorgeous girl. Her eyes are amazingly beautiful and almost look like 2 small circles of light. Now she needs a really good brushing, a good bath, more time with you, some training and a very loving home who will love her for the rest of her life… never giving up on her.

Being a mom that's owned by 6 Siberian huskies (4 of which are white) it breaks my heart to see her pressing her head against the wall and so scared. I wish I could take her and integrate her into my pack. I can say that shedding (or coat blow) is a very common occurrence and happens several times a year depending on climate. I'm in southeast Texas so I'm extremely familiar with the constant shedding and my pack is well fed. If only I wasn't so far away, I'd love to give her a new forever home that has two husky brothers and four husky sisters ready and waiting for her. Did the owners happen to say how old she was? She looks, on video, to be maybe about 2 years old. Thank you for helping these precious fur babies!

I feel bad for the owner, too. I realize that’s making an assumption. I see elderly who are without a support system and keep trying to manage. Facilities and moves are expensive. It is hard out there. Everyone has to make their own decisions. Maybe they have kids and so couldn’t give her what she needs. I know my dogs come first. They eat before me. Get shots regular and vet visits. But my kids are grown and just me and husband and 2 dogs. If have kids you do have to put them first. But it’s better to try to find them a home. So the poor dog doesn’t shut down. And they could have bathed and brushed her

I feed my dog before I eat.. I’d go hungry before I’d let my dogs suffer.. and I have bought their food and not had money for myself. During the pandemic I went without income for 3 months for the first time in my life because of shutdowns. I literally took care of my dogs needs before I took care of my own. It’s the responsibility and LOVE that I have for them that puts them first..please don’t take a dog if you can’t provide for them..that means Vet Bills, food, regular preventative care, vaccinations, spay/neuter costs, and a safe place to live. Sometimes it’s an unfortunate and unforeseen situation but think of them and their future before accepting that immense responsibility. Don’t just take a dog on a whim and don’t buy dogs for other people. Please be responsible.. these are little lives that rely on us for EVERYTHING..they deserve the best because we have such a short time with them in the big picture. 13-15 years is a very short life and should be happy and fulfilling for the pet not stressful and full of fear..❤😊

I have 3 Mini Schnauzers. One is a rescue from a California puppy mill where he (and 70 others) were pretty much feral. He only had plywood to shelter under. When I got him he was terrified of humans. He didn't even know how to drink from a bowl. 11 years later, he is the sweetest boy. All they need is love and a safe place to call home. I'd take her, but I live in Boise.

I’ve taken rescued Huskies and brought them back from very bad emotional places. I know that look on her all too well. So many are ending up in shelters lately and it’s torture for the breed. But I tell you, there is no better feeling that seeing that Husky personality come out of a shut down dog. They have such wily personas. I have one sitting beside me right now who was hiding in her cage when I first met her. It’s taken a lot of patience, love and meatballs to bring her out of it. Luckily I have plenty of all three to go around.
@jill77598 күн бұрын
So many people acquire huskies because they are beautiful animals with zero knowledge of the breed. They are GREAT dogs, also requiring a lot of attention if you don’t want a house full of hair, and a dog who eats your sofa when you turn your back. That heavy double coat needs regular attention, they are intelligent, highly motivated working dogs. They need a couple of hours walk every day to blow off that energy running either in the yard or in a park environment. A bored husky is no fun to have in your home. I wish people would bother to do a little basic research about a breed they have interest in before they take one home. We would have a lot fewer dogs in shelters if they would.

Sundays food is really incredible. I have a rescue who I used to have to hand feed or she would go on a hunger strike and not eat. She went almost three days and would not eat and I could not take it anymore. I ordered Sundays Dog food and for the first time (probably in her life) she ate her new food by herself!! She loves it!. I was feeding her high quality dog food yet she would not eat it by herself. I put a few pieces of food on my bedside table and she stole and ate them when I left the room. Just something she would never do. I couldn't stop laughing. It is easy for her to eat and i break it down into smaller pieces as she is very little. I won't lie, for me it is pricey but I am on disability and I think compared to other foods, it is not as expensive considering the ingredients it is made from and I do not expect recalls. I LOVE a company that is helping shelter dogs as well - Loads of love to Rocky and Princess. I just know she is going to get a great forever home.

Scared of EVERYTHING and no joy in her eyes. She had recently had puppies (still nursing) and it was suspected she was used as a bait dog as she's a bully mix and had such terrible injuries and scars. She he has become the BEST doggie and fur-sibling for our family. EVERY DOG IS WORTHY OF LOVE! ❤ *Especially* the "broken" ones.
