We rescued a pitbull from the shelter as she was being walked to euthanasia, because she had been there so long. She was old and in really bad shape after being used as a breeder previously. We figured we would just keep her comfortable until she passed, thinking maybe a month or two. Well turned out she was allergic to chicken,so we took her off that and her coat grew back, I started making her treats with CBD oil, and her hips got better and she was even able to jump onto the bed. She was Soo happy to learn how to play with toys, I don't think she ever had one before. Anyway she ended up being with us for over 4 years, and was just the best girl ever. 💖

Pits are so misunderstood. I had one - a homeless man gave her to me and she was the best, most loving dog I’ve ever had. She lived 12 years and my heart broke when she passed. I’ve had 3 rescue dogs since then and she still holds a special place in my heart.

We've had two rescue dogs, and they were absolutely wonderful. Our first one was a Golden Retriever, and we went to obedience school, and he was in live productions we did for kids. The second was a Pitbull and the sweetest animal I've ever known. Wouldn't have anything but a rescue.

I rescued my dog from a high kill shelter in CALIFORNIA. She was a German shepherd. Very wild, couldn't keep her in any yard, or crate. She would break through a window like the Kool aid man to get out. I still loved her and took her with me to my moves to Arizona, then Texas. Despite all the property damage and sleepless nights. Eventually, she broke out and got herself killed on the road. Honestly, the worst dog I ever had, but I would still adopt from a shelter

I've had the pleasure in my life time adopting three dog. Adopted two brothers from the same litter mix Lab and German Shepherd. Two years ago after 13 great years together they passed away from Parvo. Several months later went to shelter found a dog that a rare body temperature problem. His body was always warm that caused people not to adopt. He's mix Lab and Pit Bull. He's now 16 months old and I wouldn't trade him for anything. I feel very bless I LOVE him so much. Watch for hours Love Furry Friends - Rescue Channel. Gal lives in Ukraine she works hard helping dogs left behind from the war. Watching her help these dogs make you feel good.

ALL dogs and cats deserve love and a second chance. People can sadly be so uneducated when it comes to shelter pets. So many pure bred dogs and cats can be found in shelters including breed specific rescues. I got my current cat from a local neighbors backyard (Almost 5 years ago now) she had been covered in fleas when I got her, she's an amazing kitty and her favorite thing to do is play fetch with crumpled paper of any kind 😀 and her best friend is my Golden Retriever ❤️ I don't know what happened with the rest of her litter but i know I rescued her (they were giving the kittens away for free) and she lives her best life now 😊

It goes both ways. Most shelters make it really hard to adopt. You end up humiliated and feeling not good enough for an animal because they are overly emotionally involved. It becomes a doggy prison, not a shelter. No different when hoarders don't want to get rid of animals. Hypersensitivity is a mental illness. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm filling out SATs to adopt and shouldn't have to agree to surprise home inspections over the years. It has gotten too far. No wonder animals never get adopted. 2020 & 21 have been the worst with this happening. Disappointed, to say the least.

That kid plucked my last nerve in the beginning the way he acted, but I'm glad that the shelter lady schooled him on shelter dogs versus pet store puppies, and HE decided that he wanted boots (who is absolutely adorable). All of my dogs have been rescues. The first was a German shepherd/collie Cross called Jess. She looked like a bear and she was amazing. The second was a beautiful boy called Barney. He was a lurcher, a deerhound/afghan hound Cross. He was so good looking that people would stop us in the street. He had the sweetest nature you could ask for. My latest rescue is also a lurcher called Willow. She had a horrible life until we met her, and once she came out of her shell, she was and still is amazing. She isn't fond of other dogs, but it's not a big deal. She loves her life now and our lives revolve around her. Rescue dogs are awesome. I could never buy a dog knowing that there are so many dogs in shelters who just want to be loved and give you love in return. Great video Rocky. 🥰

I rescued 3 dogs in the last 20 years....Two of them have passed and they were just wonderful dogs...They gave so much love...The dog I have now is wonderful and loving..His name is Rufus..He is a Bassett hound Beagle mix....I rescued him when he was a puppy...Someone found his mama on a country road and took him to a dog rescue facility...3 days later she had 8 puppies but one was still born..She had 4 females and 3 males which they made it..I was never told to much about the puppy that didn't live...Rufus is now 9 years old will be 10 in November...He is such a great dog...I love him very much and he returns his love...He is Family...

Good job with the public service announcement. The fact is, everyone has preconceptions until they learn better. In my opinion mixed breed dogs are the strongest, healthiest dogs. I've had several now over my lifetime, they are super healthy dogs who tend to have fewer genetic related conditions. If you do adopt from a shelter be sure to spend some time with the dog or cat to find a good companion.

@@Bri_Games i think that's a good perspective. Working with rescues and even getting my own animals from rehoming and just paying a small fee to keep them out of a shelter, i consider it adoption. Before the pandemic a local petstore would offer adoption days each week where people could bring thier animals out for people to adopt and for a donation they recieved a voucher for vetcare towards spay/nueter. This helped keep overpopulation down and animals out of shelters. They weren't from puppy mills but it gave the dogs who were discarded from puppy mills an opening cuz these animals weren't going to shelters.

Both of our dogs are rescue dogs we adopted 8 and 10 years ago and we love 'em both. If we had to do it over again we would adopt them without question. Both are mixed breeds but we could care less. They are very loyal, playful and loving with us. A very good friend of mine got himself a dog 2 years ago after hanging out with ours and he says his dog definitely keeps him from feeling alone and he seems a lot happier than he used to be. They are always together wherever he goes.

All of my dogs are and have been rescues of one sort or another. I currently have an APBT,AST,American Bully mix from the shelter, a purebred Dogo Argentino from a rescue (who was dumped by awful byb roadside in a box with 4 siblings with parvo), and a 50/50 Great Dane/GSD mix from a rescue. Best dogs anyone could ask for. I am lucky to have them and adopting animals in need has greatly enriched my life over the years. My previous trio were all rescues, as well, 2 pit bulls/pit bull mixes and a GSD.

I got a rescue one year ago and they are the best dog I have ever had! They are kind, tolerant, and adorable! We named them Timmy, and the WORST thing he will do is accidentally play scratch you! We couldn’t have asked for a better dog, even a purebred! Sure they might not be perfectly trained in tricks, support, or the basics, but neither are purebreds! Rescues are most likely better trained then purebred puppy’s! If you want a dog, try a rescue! You’ll never know what will happen.

We have 5 rescues (treeing walker hound 16 yrs; Swedish Valhund 12 yrs; Chihuahua 12 yrs; Chiwinie 7 yrs; Jack Russell 1.5 yrs) and would have more if we could. They bring us such joy to watch them play and interact with each other. We wouldn't trade them for any other dogs. Thanks for rescuing boots, young man.

I have always had rescue cats. I've seen their eyes light up and change their actions the more I spend time with them. My latest was turned over to a vet because the elderly couple could not care for her - she was wild because she wasn't loved - she is calming down and is the joy of my life. She is growing in her affection and is calming down.

My dog was HOURS away from getting out down. We saved her and honestly she’s a really good dog. Very intelligent, patient, living, sweet dog. I’m so happy we were able to help her and rescue her. I love her sooooo much and I wouldn’t trade her for anything in this world 💜

One of my dogs was found in a box on the side of the road by an airport with mange. He is healthy and thirteen now, and my pit bull was found on the streets and she is five an happy too. My third dog we fostered and couldn’t give him up and when we got him to our house when we fostered him he was shy and now he is the most outgoing dog ever. I love all my dogs so much. I also have a bunny who is 8 months old and was humanly raised until that point when we adopted him. He has a two story hutch and loves doing zoomies. Our motto is getting pets humanely raised and treating them kindly…adopting, not shopping. Love this video 💕🌈❤️🌸🌺🐶🦮

When i was living in Italy, i adopted a purebred Beagle, she is purebred, but her owner wanted to use her for hunting, but she get scared easily and has ears problems. So he damp her in a shelter. She was 7y/o when we adopted her. Now we live in Argentina, she is 15 now, she's almost completely deaf, and is the sweetest dog ever. All shelter dog should get a chance to find their own happy family..

My three dogs are rescue dogs. They are all purebred. 2 bassets and a dachshund. I did not seek out purebreds, it just happened. All dogs are precious. And I am blessed to be the caregiver for my three dogs.

First dog I ever adopted was 9 years old and had been in the shelter for over half his life, 5 years. Buster was an Australian Shepherd mix. Beautiful dog! I looked in his eyes and I could see how intelligent he was. He was a wonderful dog as all of my rescue dogs have been. I only adopt older dogs. Never had an issue.

I've finally convinced my parents to adopt a dog , we are possibly adopting one from a family who can't keep him anymore due to their two dogs acting aggresive towards him. We're gonna visit the dog tomorrow to see if it's a proper match for us. Very excited! :)

Did the same thing in December. My current dog was being treated bad by his other household dogs. The owner was responsible and told us he needed a good home. We adopted him and he is currently very happy where he is :]. I hope the meetup went well! Best wishes to adopting the dog 😊❤️

@@DT-no2uk Not that well, I didn't even get the chance to look for a doggo I like, because I fell ill. I had cancer for the second time, and am currently recovering after major surgery :( I hope that when I am fully recovered, I can continue my search for a Shiba Inu. The owner of the dog who we were going to visit, suddenly canceled aswell, and then refused to even speak to us for whatever reason.

I have adopted four dogs from rescues and a stray cat over my lifetime and they were all AMAZING friends and got me through some of the toughest times in my life. Foster or adopt if you can. If you can't please, please donate to your local shelter or rescue!!!! I am 71 years old and I just adopted an 11 year old shelter dog with a soft tissue sarcoma. He is my sweet furbaby. He just had his tumor removed and he is living his best life with me for as long as we have each other!!! ❤️💖❤️💖

We adopted two dogs that we loved so much. One had nervous problems, but we worked with her and built her confidence over time, and she became a beautiful, loving Shepherd mix. Very pretty dog and smart as a whip! Our other dog was a collie mix and they both lived happy, healthy lives for 13 years! Don't ever be afraid to adopt -- these dogs are so grateful, loving and loyal, and have far less health problems than over bred pure dogs.

I was going through a rough time being a parent that was being alienated from his children. I decided I to get a dog and took in a rescue. We definitely helped each other go through the tough times. She's asleep right now, next to me as I type this. We're now inseparable and everyone loves her. Best decision I've made and I would do it again. Now I've started my own KZbin Channel to help other men in similar situations.

I didn't rescue a dog, but a cat that had been abandoned by his owners. When the shelter found them and told them he was found on the street they said they didn't want him back. He totally picked us and he was aggressive when we got him, but out of fear. Now 2 years later, he is a cuddly little fella. I always adopt my animals.

We adopted a 6mo old, hound/retriever/whatever mix from a good shelter 6 months ago. He is the best dog that ever existed or could exist in the history of the universe, a serial cuddle bug, and the sweetest creature on earth. I love him and his quirks to the moon and back!

This made me unbelievably sad. The tears are flowing. Hearing that boy say those awful things... and seeing those beautiful dogs looking for love... shelter dogs are the best. It breaks my heart to think anyone can feel this way... and not have a change of heart like the boy in this video. A person like that is too selfish to be a pet parent. I just can't... 😭😭😭💔

It sounds strange but rescue dogs seem to know that they have been rescued, they have a different sort of appreciation, there’s really nothing like it. Getting a pup is pretty cool too there’s also plenty of them in rescues too that need homes.

That is the big problem of the todays world . The people are heartless , soulless , they only care for new things , they get bored when a living being is too long aroung or , worse , gets older and might need some assistance . They don't spend time for what makes the life really worthwhile .

I actually got my dog from a previous owner. He was a little younger than the normal age for adoption when I first got him. When I wasn't feeling well, he was there to keep me company. He's a 6 month old German shepherd.

Several years ago we adopted a boxer/bully mix puppy from our local humane society. Even though we had our puppy stage ups and downs, it was worth it. She is such an important and loved part of our family. When a coworker said they were looking for a new puppy, I recommended checking with the humane society. Not an option, "all they had were big, ugly pit bulls." And "I don't want someone's old, used dog." I was done. So many good doggies (and kitties!) are waiting for their furever families to come find them!

Hi Rocky. I want to tell you what a big fan I am of yours. You are doing remarkable work and education. My husband and I retired to Cuenca, Ecuador. They don't hold dogs in the same high regard that we do. Many are mistreated and left to live a life as street dogs. They don't get love and affection and are used as cheap alarm systems. We have rescued 40 in 8 years. We kept 4 of them. They had been hit by cars and needed a lot of medical attention. They are their own pack of "our children" that we love dearly. They all show us so much affection and appreciate being rescued and loved. They give back so much. You are creating great awareness, Rocky. Thank you so much for what you do. You are saving lives. We adopted our Henry about 6 years ago. He is a yellow lab mix and very sweet. He loves people and other dogs. We have a good sized yard (fenced in). Neighbors in adjacent yards have a total of eight dogs, and they run up and down the length of the fence. Most days the have a barkfest in the morning and/or the evening. He’s a great companion for my autistic son!

The acting here is hammed up and unbelievable, but this still made me emotional because a lot of people do think like the characters in this, in fact my sister and her husband and his entire family is like this. They only want purebreds, while I get all my pets from the local animal shelter. They do love their purebred dogs immensely, but they all died before their time due to various illnesses like most recently Congestive Heart Failure. Tens of thousands of dollars couldn't keep that dog alive (though my sister and brother in law did try and spared no expense). Please get your dogs/cats from your local animal shelter.

Oddly enough my dog was a mixed breed and she died of congestive heart failure.
