It was literally pure rot, fungus and rust when they got it. The alternative was to leave it in a barn, get scrapped or they buy it and do this. Yes it could’ve been done with an old school motor from the same era and it would’ve been cool but they got the hellcat engine for free i believe and if they didn’t use this car for the engine swap they would’ve never bought the car and it would probably never have been restored. Theyre also very respectful compared to some people who almost just use them as mockups for their own custom body and frame which end up being practically just not the original car anymore. Probably watch the videos to know the full story rob is great!

rob literally saved that car. restoring cars back to original is great, but if you watched rob's videos of it when he first picked it up youd understand why going that route just wasnt feasible. plus they give the redeye motors to all the people in the event for free. it just made sense. the original motor barely ran and wouldve needed a shitload of work and it was never meant to be a resto, it was meant to be modernized. hes going a little gimmicky on some of the stuff like demon mode changing colors n crap, but hey its already a resto-mod, if its done tastefully it doesnt matter.
