This is my review of the Rode NT-USB Mini microphone. This is a very good USB condenser microphone, but it has its flaws for sure. Here is my brutally honest review on the Rode NT-USB Mini. Enjoy!

Got mine today and it blew my mind. Did a quick test and not only did it make my super nasal voice sound great, but I was also extremely impressed with its ability to leave out the ambient noise. Untreated room, I had my neighbour talking and laughing really loud and cars going by and none of that ended up in the recording. I totally get your criticism of the ambient sound on the monitoring though. Those ambient sounds appeared amplified in monitoring. About Rode Connect, I suspect the problems you've experienced are particular to either your pc or your unit. On my side it ran like a charm and the bass boost/compressor/vibrance options did such a good job I almost feel I don't need any post processing on my recording. Anyway this was from a quick test and I can't wait to spend a bit more time trying it out.

@bruhlmaoi ⸜⁄ to get the most out of it you have to install Rode Connect and record through there. But if you're using it in zoom calls or something like that, it won't sound as good because you'll be getting the unprocessed audio. I've done some tests speaking to the camera and to make the most of it I also recorded the audio separately and combined it with the video in an editor.

I've had this thing for a few months and I gotta say I hate it. The software you need to download to use it is absolutely horrible and a buggy mess. For the life of me could not get a background buzz to stop while using the 3.5mm monitoring. After a month I realized out of no where all audio fed through the monitoring port crackles and makes it absolutely unbearable for me use. Now the current firmware makes it disconnect randomly and makes it physically unusable. Every time I turn on my PC it's disconnected and will not connect 75% of the time for no apparent reason no matter what cable/usb port I use and I have A LOT on my PC to test from. Save yourself massive headaches I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

i think it sounds fine, it is miles ahead of any head set mic in my opinion. I listened to it with a flat sound profile and I do hear the compression slightly, but that is only really picked up by people that have experience in audio and listening with good equipment. IMO your personal mic is to warm Tech Summit.

Excited to hear about this. I've been looking for a Podcasting mic... and honestly my favorite mic ever was a Rode NTK (for music vocals) So was excited that Rode had a very affordable option for podcasts. I had a used Yeti... I've owned a Yeti twice and for whatever reason I could never fall in love with them. The one I have in particular has connectivity issues.. but anyway... I'm ready for a brand new Rode. Thx for coming to my TED talk

I recorded a podcast with the rode usb mini but the background hum is very annoying and must be removed in post production, affecting the quality. If I had known this before, I would not have bought it.

Ya i dont plan on using mic monitoring either but was kinda betrayed, on the website it says it can easily run high impedance headphones but after hooking it up to my beyerdynamic 1990 it was only able to get sound to the left earcup, so while it technically got sound through don't expect it to be a good listening experince

Question - if I enable some effects & settings on windows using the RØDE Connect software. Will it be carried over to other devices, like my PS5 or iPad. Bcz I cannot install any software on those devices to control this mic. Please can you answer??? I am looking forward to this only on my PS5 for streaming, gaming recording. I saw that this has a NOISE GATE built in which is triggered by the software. And software is only on Windows & Mac. So what I'm thinking is, I'll connect this mic to my windows laptop, enable noise filter & then take this to my PS5/ipad. But i need to know if the setting done on windows software will work on ps5/ipad.

Hey. I use the Rodecaster Pro for my podcast with the Rode Podmic using the Podmic preset on this interface, but I record my reviews using the YAMAHA MG10XU audio interface and my Shure SM7B. This video in particular was recorded only using the Rode NT-USB Mini and no EQ.

I want this mic but I'm far away in Nigeria and don't know how to go about it. If I order on Amazon the shipping fee is almost the same as the mic price or even more... The actual shop price here is almost $500 in naira equivalent. Can anyone suggest a better way for me to get it.

I tested this mic for several days and I must say it works terrible in Windows 10. A lot of noise and very quiet. I've read that there is some kind of USB driver problem in Windows that is causing this and there is no real working solution yet. Update: after few days, I got it working nicely with a help of my musician friend. I expected to much from this kind of equipment.
