Can you put a micro sd recorder in the transmitter so there is a backup, or so you could just use the transmitter as a recorder w/o wireless at all?

Three Blind Men and An Elephant Productions Yep, but it does not have the built in mic. The instamic does, but it does not have the option to plug in a lav. The Go, if it had an internal recorder too would be the one to rule them all.

Those AVX's saved me back in November. I was an A1 on a shoot in Marina Del Rey, got my system up and running, and for whatever reason just could not get the Lectronics that were sent from the studio to pair with one another. Add a change in setup from stage right to stage left 15 minutes before the talent showed up and it was looking like it was going to be a disaster, as no wired backups were included in the pack for this shoot. So one of the producers, who had unsuccessfully attempted to pair the aforementioned Lectrosonics asks if I would like to try these Sennheisers his crew had used in Colorado the week before and that he just happened (thankfully) to have with him. I quickly said yes, threw them in line with my split, and they worked straight away. They are my favorite at the moment, but now I'm curious about the performance of these two systems that are a fraction of the price of the AVX.

We've found the Rode Go has a certain tinny-ness and thin sound - a slight compression that is noticeable when compared to the Sennheiser XSW + AVX systems... Also non-replaceable batteries + dropping/cut outs in busy streets has made it a bit too compromised for time critical productions. Comparing the XSW vs Rode Go in a noisy outside environment was what gave the XSW the lead. Still the Rode is a great low budget option for fast simple setups, just don't expect them to be too robust :)

For our intended use, (sailing and remote area adventure travel) we're away from mains power for extended periods, so recharging via 12V is not as easy as swapping out AA's. From a product longevity view, I guess it's like my iPhone. At this price-point, if you got three or four years out of them before the battery cannot hold charge, you'd be way ahead financially and ready to upgrade to the newest version, whatever that might be . . . . We're ordering a set. In reality we'll likely drop them over-board, splash the Tx with salt water, break or lose them before the batteries can't hold charge.

Looking forward to getting the Rode. Regretting buying the XSW so soon. In concept it’s good but the audio output gain is not adjustable and is so crazy high that it’s constantly clipping and becomes nearly useless on things like smartphones that have no adjustment on the device side because it always clipped. I can’t believe Senheiser shipped a product that constantly clips.
@3BMEP5 жыл бұрын
You are so right, I just confirmed it: the XSW output is not adjustable! Thanks for the heads-up.

@@3BMEPIt sucks. On the Sony I need to run at 0 to avoid clipping. In contrast I usually run the Rode Link at 16. Forget about native apps on a mobile or live streams. They have no settings for that and to prevent clipping you have to attack the mic down near your belly button. Sadly none of the reviewers mentions this massive fault before I bought it. I'm in mexico but I'll be getting the new Rode as soon as I can.

2019's audio gear of the year will probably end up being the Zoom F6 because of the introduction of 32 bit "raw for audio". However, I definitely agree Rode added the features we missed the most about the Sennheiser XSW making it probably the best choice on the market right now, especially since the audio delay is similar to the XSW.

Does the recording device these are connected to make any difference at all. Example, my options would old iPhone 5 (with trrs cable of course) or an Olympus Digital Voice recorder. - The type you might use simply to make notes in class. Also, my planned usage would be narration while cycling so that deadcat really has to perform, but is there any concern with weatherproofing - not necessarily from rain but mostly sweat on a hot day if its clipped to my collar. Im not opposed to a lavalier attached and the rode in a ziplock if people think that would be a better option. Deadcat on lavaliers? Is that a thing?
@3BMEP5 жыл бұрын
David Rogers “Deadcat on lavaliers? Is that a thing?” Absolutely! RØDE includes one with their Filmmaker Kits. I’d say that’s a better way to configure your kit (adding a lav) than relying on the transmitter without one. I have used that lav, in fact with the Sony Sx2000 recorder, but RØDE’s own smart lav+ with iPhone is a decent combo, too. A little thinner to my ear, but you can’t beat the price!

It will be interesting to see how the rode wireless go system performs. I will be getting one soon.... I have the sennheiser xs xlr base kit.... awesome product...provided you are using sensitive mics... like the me66.... done some tests and found that if you find the sweet spot with the gain on your camera, you wont get the hiss from the xs xlr kit... I am not sure about the 3.5mm version. used other mics that are not as sensitive and found I had to increase the gain on the camera and in turn increasing the hiss... the fact that the rode has adjustable gain...makes it more of a professional product in that respect. in regards to the sennheiser avx system... its a great system... compact, easy to use, well made, but the xs system has one advantage over the avx.... the delay.... avx has 19m/s the xs only 4m/s. anyway thats my say.. love the channel... cheers!

The best sound comes from the Sennheiser EW G4. It is also the kit that has the best range. Rode products are nice and above all simpler for frequency management (system can be used anywhere in the world without a license). But, these products are not very solid, not durable ... Many complain about the quality of the connectors. Also, the Rode Go has a battery that cannot be replaced. In short, Rode products remain good substitutes, they are complementary but do not yet reach the quality of Sennheiser analog equipment. On the other hand, the AVX still offers better sound than Rode but its range is limited to around twenty meters in real conditions.

For professional use, UHF is still more reliable than 2.4G wifi.

Can you use a 1/8 to XLR into a zoom H6?

The H6 has a 1/8 jack, why wouldn't you just use that?

@@robertfeliciano5723 only one mic input, and it takes away the extra xlr adapter. Could use a 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter but the xlr lock in and I have many of them from the sennheiser's

I made things more difficult when I changed our backdrop. Constantly playing with new lighting and exposures - and now recalibration. The exasperating thing is that viewing device to device variation. Is so great (as are my lighting setups (I’m testing a LOT of lighting these days) that it makes it impossible to get it right for , even across my own devices (ergo working with calibration these days). My 5K Retina iMac is what I’ve been editing on, and what looks correct on the Panasonic plasma looks completely washed out on the iMac. Working on it. I’ve now found yet another set of parameters that will drive me nuts.

Bachmann Manuel not at all! People set their devices manually, and ambient lighting changes automatically set brightness levels. In this case, I liked the illumination and detail in the face. Sigh.

This was obviously designed by men. That clip works great for button down shirts, but not most women's blouses. Though adding a wired mic takes care of that. Great price and good sound.
