I love the line "Freedom as far as I can see". As someone who used to live out in the country, but now is forced to live in an apartment in town/ the city, I completely understand this line. Out in the country with your own house, own land, and own rules, you feel free. Everything is quiet and peaceful and you have that feeling like you can do anything you want and just enjoy life. In the noisy crowded city, you're all tied down by other people's rules and regulations and have no freedom or privacy. I honestly hate it. I'd still be living out in the country if my dad didn't go broke and lose our house when I was little...

What's tough is Rodney has never had a great voice. I am ok with the song, just disappointed how lackluster his voice sounds. It's never been a strong suite for him to begin with.
@kayleighminaj6 жыл бұрын
tony ei he literally sounds like Tim McGraw. I always thought he had a good voice.
@tonyei3536 жыл бұрын
In most circles of the country world Rodney has been known for having a pretty average voice, at best. Tim's is stronger but nothing spectacular. Success is often measured by ability to connect with an audience. Occasionally great vocal talents connect (Chris Stapleton), some emerge over time with that connection (Chris Young) and incredible vocal talents get left on the country music wayside (first two males I can think of are Gary Nichols and Rockie Lynne----both had one chance at country radio a few years ago but didn't connect---losing their deals---Nichols later became the 2nd lead vocalist of the Steeldrivers). Rodney has always had the ability to connect with his audience. His longterm success, say compared to Tyler Farr (another average, at best vocalist in the country music world) speaks wonders to his ability to stay the test of time. Love Rodney, respect that he has made it with an average voice. This song just doesn't connect in typical Rodney fashion to me. Nevertheless, even if it did connect with mass audiences Curb Records in 2018 is such a terrible label it will never have major chart success.
@kayleighminaj6 жыл бұрын
tony ei yeah he's been around for quite some time but bearly has any hits. Like this song alone is 2 months old and doesn't even have 1 million views but my favorite artists (Florida Georgia Line) have almost 4 million in just a few weeks on their song "simple". It probably does have to do with marketing and their label. I've been to FGL's concert and they definity connect greatly with the crowd and fans in general.I haven't seen Rodney even have a tour in forever. In that might be why he's so little known too.

I love that song, makes me miss growing up in the country of North Carolina!
@dragodicemperor51945 жыл бұрын
The country is great, it's where you can go and breathe gods air, and feel his love, and worship his gift. The people have fun, playing, farming, and loving one another, and learning about their friends, families, and traditions. But it's not the religion, traditions, or even the country itself that makes it so special, it's the hearts of all the people that live and grow up in it is what really makes it home. Don't you feel the same?
@codyjarrard516 жыл бұрын
Man fact is y'all, they may have changed the sound of his music, but he still has the same ole twang in his voice that he had back 10 years ago. I'll wait for someone to argue it. He is still country and he is proving it, but y'all don't even know the real damn reason he did it this way. Go online and look up why he did this song and read for once, y'all will be blown away and understand why he did the song the way he did. Keep it up Rodney, those kids are truly blessed to have participated in the song with you. I'm glad you and Rose decided to do this
@georgewashington86206 жыл бұрын
That's honestly the thing that amazes me about him. He changes the sound of his music and he still sounds pretty damn good.
@darkangel223114 жыл бұрын
They may have changed his style of music but his voice and it doesn't mix you can't put a country singer into pop and call it country it doesn't mix in my opinion. He has a good voice but the tune just makes it horrible and a lot of people I know also agree it doesn't mix.

This song speaks so much truth. Heaven is nature for me. I feel more at home in the woods or one the river bank. Right with all of mother natures pure beauty. No where else on earth i would rather be then siting 18 ft in a tree on a cold morning with the sun creeping over the treeline and the birds and the cridders runnin around. I could die in them spots. And you will find me grinning from ear to ear.

So what some are saying here is that if good ol' George or Johnny had done this song, y'all would be calling it good old country. And don't tell me either one of them wouldn't have recorded a song liked this; with this kind of tempo and such. Music changes and evolves for heaven sakes; and exactly how country are You if you don't evolve with it? I wasn't born country, but got "caught up in the country" and I listen to the old and the new and love it all!
