Yes agreed. The I was 16 when he passed and re ally wasn't into comedy... I saw him in a couple movies and then I saw him you know one occasion obviously just heard pop culture and he's funny but the more I listen and the more one-liners I hear from him and the older I get in smarter obviously the more I understand how incredibly difficult it is to kind of not develop a joke and pack the entire punching to a one-liner this is very difficult and his expressions and mannerisms and facial everything I agree 100% and wish that he would get a little bit more conversation when talking about best of all time. Obviously people have their favorites and the media has their favorites to which obviously sways public opinion but a good hour of his will stand up against anybody some of his jokes I've had me falling out of the chair when I haven't laughed that hard from a modern woke ever.

In 1994, I was questioned at the LA Federal Courthouse as a possible juror in a case involving Rodney Dangerfield regarding a lawsuit. I was disqualified when I was asked if I liked Rodney or if I was a fan of his and I answered yes... I believe he was found not guilty in some kind of slander or libel case... Rodney was one of a kind and I still miss his jokes and still watch his films he did. Wish he made more of them...

I will gladly sacrifice Beiber, all of the Kardashians, the entire cast of Jersey Shore, Paris Hilton, and all the other no talent hacks that exist today if we could get Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and Rodney Dangerfield back. Let's throw in Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Johhny Carson, and Jimmy Stewart too, just for good measure.
@davidfrancis64609 жыл бұрын
My sentiments exactly. And you could add George Burns and Jack Benny to the mix too. I saw the great Bob Hope in Melbourne, Australia in July of 1983 and he was brilliant. Nearly two hours of funny one liners and he'd just turned 80 a few months before. Now I'd just be happy to get just one day when I don't have to read something online about the puerile goings on of the aforementioned talentless hacks that you referrred to. Especially Kim Kardashian and Kanye Pest. Oh, I wish!

Its cool to see how much times have changed but the classics are always classics. Rodney was a steup punchline setup punchline type of comic. They are a rarity these days, today its more long bits and story telling. I think they both have their merits but you don't see many masterful at this style in the scene today.

It's wonderful to see a guy at the top of his game at that late point in his career. Just classic, from start to finish. Great to see an old master just pushing to envelope the whole night. This was 'blue' material from a class act. Nowadays, comedians come right out the gate tossing around the 'f-word', trying to be as funny and as bawdy as this guy. Take notes.

I met Rodney when I was a teenager years ago , around 1974.. my boss was a very good friend, they worked together, grew up together. He was funny too & the two together were something to experience ! They called me the “ kid” ( the f’in kid “) usually,lol! I saw him many times, had drinks & lunches with him , got to hang out with those guys a lot back then ,they were truly like the guy Rodney portrayed in caddie shack ! My boss had to be what inspired the Al Jervik character! Just imagine having dinners with these guys in real life ! Rodney would purposely make me laugh so hard , he just enjoyed it! One time I saw Rodney in New Haven ct. at the old Colliseum , he gave me tickets to the show then he messed with me during the show.. he had me laughing so damn hard I could hardly get my breathe ! At one point some guy hollered out “ hey Rodney, your fly is down “& Rodney said “ ya, that’s right- I was just playing with your little brother!” I laughed so much that show! He had the spot light track me as I got up to go to the lobby & get some air - then he said hey kid, where the hell ya goin? Stick around for the fights, I’m not gonna pay the band! His live performances were , if you could believe , even funnier than his Tonite show stuff because the subject matter and the language he could use live ! Absolutely the funniest comedian ever , and maybe people need to know about the other Rodney…what a wonderful, friendly , generous, very smart sweet human being and really good friend he was. Rest easy Rodney , I miss you , I miss the times I shared with you and Stan , all of us fans miss you ❤ Mr. Tom aka “the kid “ Folks, if you get Rodney’s humor check out you tube for Rodney’s times with Johnny Carson , then with Jay Leno ! These are some of his best moments, super funny with the masters in Carson & Leno setting up the jokes for Rodney! Jay and Kevin and the band know what I’m talking about! I was a lucky kid I’ll tell ya that! priceless & we are so lucky to have those videos to watch ! Keep laughing & never forget!😂😂
