She's thumping the guitar body which in the wood itself resonates & produces the sound. The strings have nothing to do with it beyond being attached to the guitar at that point.

I saw then do this with Trujillo in Napa, CA, a few years back... absolutely incredible. I was LEGIT headbanging to two acoustic guitars and direct bass. Rocked just as hard the real, fully amplified Metallica. I'll never forget it!

Red Rocks is better than any small theater unless you are at the very top where the wind can effect the sound. I usually get front row if I can get tickets since they are reserved for people with physical disabilities. Nothing better than seeing a great band front row at Red Rocks. Even if you're in the first 30 rows it's still an excellent venue.
