But her analogy is incorrect. With a party, you have guests come over (or show up unannounced), entertain them, then they leave. With Haiti, you'd be inviting people over to stay, hence refuge from their country and they don't leave. Therefore, Immigration doesn't properly compare to having a Party which is why Mr.Hall looked at her like she was a dumb ass. And Amber is right because the two don't compare. Rearranging for a party of people who will eventually leave is completely different from rearranging the Gov for people who will stay permanently.
@marissashantez60512 жыл бұрын
Makes zero sense to me. Its fun to have the more the merrier when its a party. Its a lot less fun when they stay forever and eat your food, and you only have so much. And I dont care what it says on the Statue of Liberty. That thing is French not American. If the French want hundred thousand people crossing their border everyday selling black tar on their streets, shooting 22 year old police officers, they can have them. I didn't invite them, and Im not paying for them, or handing them any jobs.We can't take care of our own people.

🤣Her eyes as she seems to be trying to memorize “Drive, sit, do anything in that jeep” as her dad lectures her about getting tickets. I relate to that 💯

I feel weird looking at the comments and being the only dude here but I love this movie. There aren't any truly perfect or truly awful characters (except Elton of course). Even the guy who robs Cher says "Count to 100. Thank you." before he runs off with her purse. Even showing some depth in his character. From just him saying "Thank you" you can imagine that he feels bad for what he's doing and is probably a decent person in a tough situation and mugging people is his last resort. I even remember, based on his demeanor, wondering if the gun was even loaded or the safety was off. When Tai insults Cher: First of all I was caught off guard by Cher's sheepish but vulnerable response. She says "Oh, that was way harsh, Tai" and begins to tear up, being genuinely hurt, not just because the insult but because she cares about Tai's opinion. As opposed to her immediately retorting with an insult about Tai being poor, not as pretty, etc. And at the same time, when Tai insults Cher, I instinctively began distancing myself from liking her character in my mind. Likely because in a movie about one snarky person being humbled, a humble person gains popularity/status and becomes a terrible person. A caricature of who they once were. The arch of Tai being the villain was already forming in my mind. Then... Tai says they shouldn't talk until they're both clear headed and leaves. "That's a mature response". And the next time they see each other, Tai apologizes and so does Cher. And that's the end of that argument. Tai is just normal ole Tai again. It subverted a lot of my expectations and movie tropes I had in mind. That's why I enjoyed this movie so much. While characters might not have been entirely more than 1-dimensional, they were at least 1 and half dimensional (???). Just like in life, people aren't black or white, but some shade of grey. I loved this movie for that. It was refreshing and kept me on my toes.
