3:26 I think that the point of contact was the hip. If I recall correctly, hip throws are illegal in MT. You can see that the thigh or knee is a second point of contact as well, but I think the hip was the primary pivot point. Probably a close call due to the thigh/knee contact, and one that is much harder to see in person for the ref.
@zMxsh
@zMxsh Жыл бұрын
you plant your foot on the outside of the opponent so when you twist and throw them over your knee, you leg acts as a barrier to there lower leg thus send his body weight in two different directions
@wpgstevo
@wpgstevo Жыл бұрын
@@zMxsh That was what I was taught as well. Your knee is supposed to be the fulcrum point. In the throw we see in this video, the first unbalancing is done with the pelvis. I think it would count as a hip throw for that reason, and be illegal. But again, very hard to see for the ref.

TBH watching this I feel like Rodtang lost or maybe drew. Goncalves continually forced Rodtang to fight his fight, landed good counters more consistently, and forced Rodtang to miss a lot. Maybe muay thai judging is different but IDK. Still a big fan of Rodtang but Goncalves did a really good job of dismantling his style and flustering him.

The only way to beat Rodtang IN ONEFC, is to stand and bang. Thats all that ONE wants to see, not playing defense as rodtang just taunts, showing full control and appeasing the judges. And I dont think anyone can stand and bang with rodtang.

when constant backing up and circle around is action for u thats fine even the ref calls for more activity because walter startet doing it all the time he did not know how to go forward against rodtang and that kinda "style" if u want to call it so it feels like a rabbit that just runs he hit rod but he cant stop him from going forward so walter just goes ful backwards and that for the champion belt no way go in and fight for this belt like a man not a mouse if ur gameplan is circle around and dont get into close fights for ur own good then why u wanne be a fighting champion do u think champions get champs by avoiding every situation that could be doing dmg und always fight in backwards thats not how u win a title

@itbakkawi

Based on the fighting style it looks like Walter definitely cross trained in MMA you can see based on what looks like duck under into a single/double leg take down. Also while he started off in an upright MT style towards the end he becomes a bit more bladed to dart in and out of range (while mostly darting out of range). I think the issue for Rodtang is that one of the great counters for the bladed stance comes in low kicks but since Walter kept retreating those longer range low kicks were not conntecting, and then when they came close enough they would clinch up (or Walter would attempt an MMA takedown).

You seem to be right. Goncalves' Wiki page shows that he's had 1 MMA fight in ONE FC (he lost by decision), so while he's not an MMA fighter per se, he's definitely done some wrestling or BJJ.

hey i thought the bigger gloves are worst for you than the smaller gloves since wearing larger gloves can result in accumulating more damage over time. While they might offer more padding and protection in the short term, the widespread distribution of force can lead to prolonged exchanges and repeated hits that might not cause an immediate knockout but can accumulate damage over the course of a match. On the other hand, smaller gloves can cause more immediate damage due to the concentrated force, potentially leading to quicker knockouts, but the fights might be shorter, potentially reducing the overall amount of accumulated damage. Id like to hear more on your perspective sir.
@Kantzarakos
@Kantzarakos Жыл бұрын
Not Gabriel, but this is by no means clear. The kind of research that would help us conclude this just hasn't been done. There is some arguing that boxing gloves allow for harder hits due to protecting the hand more than they protect the target, with a cutting edge THIRTY year old study to back it up, but that doesn't include MMA gloves. If anything they seem to be even more in the dead zone, still offering significant protection to the fighters' hands while offering even less protection to the brain, skin and bones than regular boxing gloves. If we can assume that they cause more damage than regular boxing gloves(not 100% we can, but the data we have definitely points in that direction), they are just plain more dangerous. The greater acute damage puts you in greater risk for both short and long term injury.
@RJS-0212
@RJS-0212 Жыл бұрын
Bigger gloves are worse for long term damage, but this is not boxing. In Muay Thai your body often takes more damage than the brain and the fight is shorter. 10oz gloves are arguably better for Muay Thai as it forces the fight to be real Muay Thai, not ONE Muay Thai.

i think rodtang's theatrics are more for the judges, to convince them he is winning the rounds, that the opponent is being passive by running or that the takedown might be illegal, regardless of if they really are or that when he gets clipped clean it doesn't count like a significant strike since he acts as if it was nothing 🤣pretty smart if you ask me also i don't feel like this fight was really as close as gabriel said, it looks like a very clear victory for rodtang to me but then again maybe i fell victim to the theatrics 😛
