Whether they confirm your views or not, propaganda is what leads to people abandoning rationality or dismissing evidence in favour of information that leads you to put your head in the sand at best and turns you into a crazed violent lunatic at worst (see Jan 6th 2021 for that, or the Jonestown mass suicide).

It's being shot in Louisiana and apparently they've been barred from multiple locations including Louisiana State University (though they say it's due to "logistics") 3. They had several people leave during the first few days as they had no clue of what was in the script (they changed lines without telling people) , found out , were naturally horrified and left. 4. I don't necessarily mind a movie on this subject being made, abortion is after all a complex topic with many different, passionate perspectives to explore. However these movies are often too one-sided and preachy. Not to mention terribly low-budget and lazy.
@Rainbowthewindsage5 жыл бұрын
Probably because most people who would give it a fair dicussion are also the people who wouldn't make a movie on something considered controversial.
@ShadowMoses9005 жыл бұрын
@@Rainbowthewindsage I'm not a director, but if I was going to make a movie on the subject of abortion I would have it center around multiple women with vastly different circumstances. That way we can see the circumstances that drive desperate women to do something so drastic in the first place. On the personal level I am pro-life, but on the political level I am pro-choice. I sympathize with pro-lifers, and get where they're coming from, but I also recognize that keeping abortion legal keeps women safe. Banning things doesn't work. Whether it's abortion, guns, drugs, alchohol etc... All it does is create a dangerous black market run by criminals. This was the case before Roe v Wade, and it resulted in thousands of women dying from back alley procedures. While I would obviously prefer no abortions, that's not the world we live in. As such, if keeping abortion legal means keeping women alive through the procedure, I would take that over the alternative of losing two lives. Not to mention the idea of the Government being able to dictate one's bodily autonomy is unconstitutional. We can, however, end abortion by providing a more supportive culture: universal healthcare, access to birth control, improving sexual education, helping single mothers instead of shaming them etc... We need to create a pro-life culture, not pro-life legislation. This is not a political battle to me, but a cultural one.

@@ShadowMoses900 Late to the 'party' here, but I highly recommend "If These Walls Could Talk", an HBO movie with Demi Moore. The only thing I disagree with is Rob's assertion that only a portion of the Pro-Life movement is extremists. There are no moderate "pro-lifers". Because it is really Anti-Choice, about imposing your beliefs on other people to take their choices away. That's not a thing that moderates do.

I think there are "moderate" pro-lifers, insofar as there are people people who personally oppose abortion, but aren't too enthusiastic about re-criminalizing it. Of course, it's difficult to determine just how many of them there are because they usually run in the same social circles as the more fanatical pro-lifers and don't want to draw attention to themselves.
