Between 1910 and 1920, Dr. Ludwig Roemheld studied the phenomenon in which patients suffering from digestive problems and no detectable heart issues would experience cardiac symptoms. By the 1940`s, his research received more attention and the medical community would eventually accept the existence of a gastro-cardiac symptom complex, also known as the Roemheld Syndrome (RS). This happened to me yesterday. I had so much gas buildup in my stomach, and then into my esophagus that it overstimulated my vagus nerve and I had heart palpitations, which caused me to have a severe panic attack, which lasted over an hour. I literally thought I was dying.

I get this when ever I eat. Doesnt have to be a big meal. Its no fun just trying to eat and your heart decides to do back flips in your chest.

En anglais, mais j'ai suivis quand même... Mais je confirme, en ce qui me concerne la hernie hiatale, les rgo, l'aérophagie, avec les contrariétés du quotidien me procurent souvent des extrasystoles surtout en position allongé sur le dos, et sur le coté droit... Il m'a fallu presque 4 ans pour comprendre tout ça... Tout les examens, cardio, etc... ras. Donc je mange moins, moins de dessert plus lentement, et un ipp le soir, ou le matin à Jeun... et curieusement ça va mieux ;-)

Why doctors in belgium dont know this... i did everything. The cardiologist said i had pvc's but they where no problem.. my heart is good... after weeks, tonight i find out by myself i have this! I cant sleep, pulpitations so much, slow heartbeat (under 60) .. when i move directly high heartbeat... what i cant understand is, my doctor and the cardiologist knows that i have a stomach hernia. Why they dont think about roemheld. I do not trust doctors anymore... its the second time i need to figger out myself what i have.... but know, what i can do to stop this, for me are the pulpitations, bad sleep, and rapid heartrate the things i want to change right now. Somebody have tips? I want my rest, sleep ..... LIFE back.

You are right, doctors know little, I am doctor myself. I have roemheld syndrome since covid infection. Try this: eat carnivore, zero to almosto zero vegetables. You will see immediate changes. Very important. After eating, stand up and walk immediately for 10 minutes. You will have no problems.

Im not 💯 sure if its this or not but my heart rate increases when i don't eat in time and my chest gets tight and the similar thing happens when i need to go #2 and sometimes followed by palpitations it mostly happens around things involving the gut
