Seems I accidentally cut the line where I mentioned all of this was in the Default performance mode power setting. (you may assume that's the case in vids like this from me, unless otherwise specifically noted that I'm in Silent or Turbo modes).

Hello Blunty. Another interesting material. 👍 Modding can be hard on nerves, so I understand your frustration here. In future videos (if upscaling isn't supported by the game itself) you can always try "Radeon Super Resolution" instead. + Towards your video. FSR2 mod for Skyrim seems to not affect performance really (not sure about Fallout). I got it to work, I had menus and all. But performance is the same, only image has less harsh edges. Author wrote in description that this happens on some CPU limited systems, and I think there is some issue with his mod possibly. I used Intel Iris Xe GPU, so I was GPU limited (CPU was i5-1250H, so much better variant than my GPU itself). So perhaps it's better to use Radeon Super Resolution anyway. I saw that data for performance in games provided by Asus also had this specific option enabled (they listed a few titles running at low, upscaled FullHD using Radeon Super Resolution.

Steam Deck vs Ally is great content and the right direction for PC gaming.
@matthewcullen3486 Жыл бұрын
The way you put this togther and fiddled with options and settings is exactly the kind of content im looking for on thr allly (which im upgrading to from steamdeck). Its different from mainstream reviews, yet also more specific and thought out than someone just playing something silently. More content like this please. Also: side note. Im a patron of the guy that made that dlss/fsr mod, and hes made dlss 3 mods for the latest jedi game, skyrim and elden ring. While not being relevant to the rog ally. Is extremely interesting to me as a tech enthusiast who has a 4xxx card. Keep up the good work. 🙌🖐️🙏

I've played a good hundred hours or so of FO4 on my Steam Deck, and I've never had any issues with it performance wise. At least none that I don't expect. By that I mean base building and overly complex bases. I wouldn't call Fallout 4 a problematic game on the Steam Deck... Maybe I should give it another go? It has been a while, but I remember having zero issues and hitting 40+ FPS (45FPS is my go to target on my Deck as it's smoother than 30 but less power hungry then 60FPS) 800p all the time. I admit that FO4 is one of those games I tend to mod heavily, so it's entirely possible I had some performance mods I've forgotten about that made things better. If that's the case, get some performance mods for the Ally too.
@phrozac Жыл бұрын
I'm running a relatively heavily modded FO4 on Steam Deck at a bit over 200 mods and it looks just amazing with performance generally staying above 30fps. A Forest with Misty Pines and NAC X along with a million gun and armor mods is actually doable. And believe it or not I was running Pilgrim ENB at one point but it was too frequently in the 20fps range. Looked awesome though. I wonder how much better the ROG Ally would run a similar setup? Maybe a truly smooth modded FO4 mobile experience isn't feasible yet on these handheld PCs?

I've got my ally ordered. Pretty excited. Hope it's not crap, Gaming pc is 3060ti, laptop is only a 1060. If it performs as good as the laptop I'll be stoked.

I think, when you have it plugged in on Turbo mode it's really powerfull. But in handheld mode I will personally lower the resolution/graphics and cap the FPS to get maximum battery life.

@steveco1800 Жыл бұрын
Why? The Ally is only good for gaming on the go, a gaming laptop is also a proper PC without needing a dock. The Ally is nice but I'm more tempted by a Steam Deck for half the price, or spend a bit more and get a gaming laptop with much more performance.

I went back and forth in the video and I couldn't tell if you said it or not. Are you running these at silent performance or turbo? And is it while plugged in or just in handheld mode that you're getting all of these numbers?

note: this also happens on the lowest settings too, changing graphical options doesn't affect this at all. it drops as low as 20.

@@Evolution56 As I said. It's just AA disabled really. Their games look like this in general when you turn it off, I have the same with Skyrim AE FullHD on my laptop. I enabled FSR2 and it's all smooth, no jagged edges or noise when camera moves. Enable "Radeon Super Resolution" (or FSR if possible) and have fun. @jonintrovertedpotato3866 Жыл бұрын
Mods already do what this update does possibly. Although if they give us better shaders + FSR I may consider getting Fallout 4 for myself. I hope they dk the same with Skyrim for free. It was remastered alright, but both games run on the same engine. So they should upgrade their efficiency & shaders equally as much.
