Here we have something very special for you today- it's the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM. It is a 27 inch OLED monitor that is using LG panel with 1000 nit brightness, running at 240 hertz and it's actually very colour accurate. Seems too good to be true? Well, let's open it up and have a look.
To test this monitor for colour accuracy we used Portrait Displays Calman color calibration software.

I recently bought a new pg27aqdm~ but I always feel that the two sides of the screen are much darker than the middle one on the desktop~ and take the left as an example~ the upper left corner is slightly darker than the lower left corner~ is this normal? Or its brightness The uniformity is not very good? Or is it a defective product? But it is not obvious when playing games

I have downloaded the software from ASUS but am unsure how to do it and what is needed to perform this. I have the monitor connected by DisplayPort. Just get started? it says something about usb type B cable, should I only use it? and what is one key tool.. im unsure. Thanks

Impressive review! Seems like that first time ROG has a product priced similarly to a competitor brand, they usally go for higher. However I do think that the lack of speaker is a miss. The lack of HDMI 2.1 port isn't a big deal for me since it should be hooked up to DP when paired with PC. For console gamers, I'm unsure if there are games that can take advantage of the 240Hz refresh rate at 2K resolution so not that much of a deal imo. I could be wrong though! Perhaps console gamers could shed light on this?

Monitor speakers are the most unnecessary things I can imagine on a monitor. They are ALWAYS shite anyways….no loss here. HDMI 2.1 on the other hand…rather weird that this is missing

@@SpartanDeluxe no one needs speakers on a Monitor and even HDMI 2.1 is not really needed. You can use that monitor with 120hz VRR on consoles trough hdmi2.0. I dont know why ppl think hdmi2.1 is needed… currently using 240hz 1440p 10bit with dp1.4 dsc and i dont notice any changes. I have two of this Monitor and tested a lot. Its by far the best Monitor i have ever used!

Who cares about speakers on a monitor. Whenever they're included they're horrible. If you can afford a 1k+ USD monitor you can probably buy some good headphones or speakers to go with it.

if you ask for monitor speakers I imagine you think "gaming speakers" like logitechs and such are good..NO they are atrocious, really really bad I lost 10 years of bad sound with a 2.1 gaming setup until read the words "studio monitors" which I never found because they are sorted in the pro-audio category on most sites and kept separate I bought a pair, required many accessories a "noise killer" adapters and stuff as mine are pure analog and gpus generate a nuclear amount of noise but in the end the sound you get from studio monitors (2x150$ for my KRKs) is miles above "pc speakers" studio monitor sound so clear and good that even with eyes opend I'm wondering if someone isn't hiding behind my screen it's that good

I had this monitor for a week - I really liked it BUT its a 26.5" monitor not a 27" so it was an annoying fit with my other 27" (come one why not just make it a 27"). It also only has a HDMI 2.0 not 2.1 and zero burn in warranty. I switched the the Alienware DWF and find its more closer to the oled experience of a LG oled C2. I think in general the QD old is just a bit better with less text blurriness. I didn't think I wanted a ultra wide but after 2 days im not going back!

This would absolutely be my first choice of a monitor upgrade to my 27" 1440p G-SYNC ASUS ROG PG279Q monitor as I absolutely love OLED as an owner of a 55" LG B9 TV for the last (almost) 4 years. The only thing stopping me buying this is the fact that that I do browse a lot on my PC so that means things like the taskbar and browser menus and favourites would be displaying a static image for prolonged periods of time, something that isn't an issue on my TV where I only watch movies, shows and play games nor is it anything I have to think about on my current IPS panel. Yes, you can set Windows to hide the taskbar but you cannot really do that with the top favourites bar and menus (as far as I know) in a browser without losing functionality. Besides, having to keep tweaking things to prevent burn-in just seems like more hassle than anything else, preventing the monitor from just being used like any other non-OLED display. The second issue is that I've heard that text doesn't look very good on this monitor due to the pixel structure it uses. Again, this isn't an issue on my LG B9 TV because of this distance I am sat away from the screen but with a monitor I am sat much closer so any imperfections will be much more obvious. This isn't a cheap monitor so this kind of issue would really annoy me. It's a shame that this wasn't covered in the review along with a close up of on-screen text. Also, does this monitor have a purple sheen to it when turned off or when you view a black screen in a black room? I've heard that this is an issue with some OLED monitors and TVs? You also did not mention HDR but I assume that this display supports it?
@Snook_
@Snook_ Жыл бұрын
All correct. Burn in, short warranties, initial price and sub pixel layout are all small issues that add up to 1 big issue. Probably best to stick to IPS and wait for a tried and tested OLED 1440p for 600 US$

Hey All - Quick Review of Asus PG27AQDM OLED (I own x 2) MP Verdict - Absolutely, Great Monitor! Response, Colours, Refresh rate and brightness are superb. SP Verdict - Absolutely No Way! Matte coating kills Immersion. It is way stronger and worse than anyone have said so far. Any white/light colours show very strong film of grainy, uneven coating. Advice - Unless you're playing colour intensive MP only, wait for Glossy finish and then 100% buy. I will sell both of mine as soon as that happens and do the same. I stopped all SP games because of how bad it really is. RDR2 starts in snowy mountains, and I had to stop on 3rd mission because of how bad the coating made overall quality of the game. You are welcome.
