Roger admitted to putting this together with the Chieftains to get a laugh at how quiet they were compared to John's bass as he said "after years and years and years" of putting up with John's loudness.

It can be acoustic, but it has a pickup and controls on top of the body, where only the player can see them... also a tuner and 9 volt battery holder.

In his biography, "hanks a Lot, Mr. Kibblewhite: My Story", Roger Daltrey refers to this performance as the one time that John Entwistle kept it under control and played soft enough not to blow you away. He played louder than Pete at most of the Who's gigs!
