@jacobmckeever53582 жыл бұрын
perhaps it is enjoyable because of roger but also because of the flow of the series. the few moments in the series that were a bit fillerish, can be entertaining because each episode is relatively short, and in turn, each episode has a purpose/flow into the one after. the journey from the northern water tribe to the southern water tribe was in itself, a journey, they had to get somewhere, then after that they had to get to ba sing say. Season 3 was more or less trying to sneak as close to the fire nation capital as possible for the invasion. thus there is a time table and we can get 3 20 episode seasons banged out relatively quickly/efficiently.

if you’re hating on Katara for being wary of/ distrusting of Zuko, just remember that she was the first one to open up to him down in the earth kingdom caves. She was willing to empathize with and heal him, only to be betrayed and attacked by him a few minutes later

@@marche800 I can understand why Toph does, considering she wasn’t around for any of the bad stuff he did (he only attacked them once after she joined the team, and she wasn’t in the cave when he did that) and she can sense that he was telling the truth about changing sides. I can even see why Aang was so quick to forgive him, because that’s Aang. Plus Zuko did free Appa, and he could relate to what Zuko said about being careful with firebending. The weirdest one was Sokka. I understand why he accepted Zuko after they rescued Hakoda and Suki, but he was pretty easy on Zuko even before that.

Mai and Zuko didn't come out of nowhere there were a few scenes back in book two that implied they had a thing. Like when Ty Lee says they're going to see Zuko again Mai kind of smiles and looks at the screen and during Zuko's flashback he ran to save her when they were kids and got embarrassed. It was a thing.
@Dell-ol6hb2 жыл бұрын
yea they've always been attracted to each other, it's just that after Zuko's banishment they never really got a chance to hit it off, so when he came back they immediately got together pretty much
@Talisguy2 жыл бұрын
It's pretty amusing to have Zuko, the most dramatic character in the series and one of the most socially awkward, hook up with Mai offscreen with zero fuss or fanfare. I kind of like it as a concept. Buuuuut I think it also does the relationship a bit of a disservice. Because they interact so little in Book 2, we don't have any time to grow to like the idea of them as a couple or become invested in their relationship before they get together. I think their relationship once they're actually together works pretty well overall, but we become invested in relationships when we...y'know, see the participants do stuff together. When they interact in fun and interesting ways. I could be wrong, but I think they only ever interacted as children last season and never even *spoke* to each other. If anyone wonders why fanfic disproportionately features male/male pairings, by the way, that's the main reason. Think of how many works of fiction have male heroes who spend much more time with/have much more fleshed out relationships with their male friends or male enemies than they do with their actual canon love interests.
@marche8002 жыл бұрын
@@Talisguy I mean in all fairness the who point of Zuko's arc in book to is to explore how he'd from and change when completely separated from the fire Nation. So his solitude is pretty natural. The only character he spends a lot of time on screen with in any positive light is Iroh and they're family. But I see what you're saying and thanks for illuminating that for me.
@Talisguy2 жыл бұрын
@@marche800 It's natural. It makes logical sense: they haven't really had time to interact before book 3. I just think that showing the start of their relationship might have helped save poor Mai from disgruntled shippers by giving us more of a chance to get invested in them as a couple before they actually started dating.

I think people forget just how much Katara consistently chooses other people over herself. So when she does things that are “selfish” and so out of character they think it’s irrational or bad writing but ignore that no one can be perfect no matter how much they try to supress things. In book 3 Katara finally starts to look at herself and her personal shortcomings and I truly appreciate that.
@visoth77912 жыл бұрын
My honest opinion: Katara is underrated. Yeah she was annoying in early book 1, but we can all agree book 1 was the weakest as they were still trying to figure out where each character will go. Growing pains. Katara was the moral support to Aang pretty much all throughout the series, and mother figure of the group altogether. Without Kataras support, Aang likely wouldn't have made it through all the trauma he uncovered, and his guilt from running away from his responsibility. Again, few bad moments with her, but if you think about it, almost every character (minus Iroh, who was consistently the best) has had moments in the series you could criticize.

the entire series, start to finish, was written within a few days by the creators. I don't think season 1 was weak because of not knowing where they wanted to go. They knew where they wanted to go the whole time, but wanting to get somewhere, means you have to start from somewhere else. And that's what we got. The only weak parts of book 1 are animation budget in the very beginning, the actors getting used to their characters, and expositional/worldbuilding episodes that don't move the plot very much.

Honestly wished we could have seen a Iroh vs Ozai fight towards the end. Yolked iroh was godly

I am with you with the top 3 male characters but in different orders: Iroh, Zuko, and Sokka. However, for the female characters, my top 3 are: Toph, Azula, and Sukki (or Tay lee).

Avatar will likely forever be the best western animated show ever created. As you said, it's perfectly paced, genuinely funny, relatable in so many ways, the worldbuilding is incredible... Man I will never ever get over this show. What a journey it was re-living it watching your reaction.

Fun fuct: Piandao was also Zuko's master. There is even a duel Zuko vs Sokka in the comics, but let's say that there is a little difference between years of experiance and one day xD

To this day I’ve never seen a better or more satisfying conclusion to a series. Period. Was great when I was a kid, is still great now.

I really enjoy Aang’s solution to stopping Ozai. It pulls heavily from his culture of valuing all life (ignore the hornet/vulutre). Despite being the Avatar he still is an air nomad and the only one able to carry on their traditions and values. As much as his duty is the Avatar he is also “The last Airbender”. The solution looks for a creative way around his options. Even Toph describes the air bending mindset when teaching him. She describes it as “looking for a different angle, clever solution”.
