excellent vid. I'm 56 & modular is my alternate personality. Complete 180 from the 3 decades I spent spinning techno in dark warehouses in questionable locations around the US.

Music is an art form, a way of expressing yourself to the world. So nothing is done before, if you weren’t the one doing it before. That said, this video wasn’t done before. Trademarked or not, it was a(nother) joyful trip 👌🏻

With a modular you can do the same thing over and over again and always get different results :).

Great video! I love the idea of rogue ambient. I’m not a big fan of what people typically think of as ambient but rogue ambient I can get down with!

Thanks to you too! I took down the 432 video because I really don't want people to feel bad or disconnected about the things I do. Maybe it belongs on my 'side channel'.

@@CinematicLaboratory I was surprised that you did. I think it is important to show that people don't always have to agree about something. We can and should discuss about things we don't agree about. But we also need to do it in a respectful way. Please put it back up (of course, it's your decision). We're both elderly adults (both over 60 years old) and if we can't have a civil argument about things, then who can?

That would be an excellent tool to do this. However I installed the new firmware and it's quite unusable now. If it works, don't touch it. I'll probably need to calibrate it.

Great video, yet again! What kind of cases do you mainly use? I think in this video it's a Make Noise case, but I've also seen you use the Arturia Rackbrute 6U. Have you ever used the Tiptop Audio Mantis?
@CinematicLaboratory9 күн бұрын
I'd stick to my MN cases (I have lots of 'em) because of the CV bar in the center and I currently use the dual Arturia for larger setups (Buchla TTA/Serge). I also have a Stealth case for my Intellijel gear and I use an Erica Synth case for small format modules (tons of headers). The Mantis is a great option for smaller budgets, but I never had a need for it.
@alexandermontagnet33618 күн бұрын
@@CinematicLaboratory Thanks! I like the Intellijel cases, they are just so pricey. I'll get one day. I have a Make Noise, love the cv bar, and a Moog 104hp. I'm out of room though. Not sure what to do yet. I've love to be able to connect them, but I don't think you can do that with the Make Noise cases. Maybe I'm wrong. I brought up the Mantis because of the newer black option and the ability to connect three together.

The new channel, I joined up, .. took the oath .. and put on the uniform. I don't know if what I do is "ambient" .. but, applying some "techniques" .. maybe it could be? I didn't realize that navigating these new frontiers was as tricky, as it's sounding. Nothing's simple, it seems.

Great idea, subscribed and would like to contribute some of my music (if good enough), I understand it has to be something not shared / uploaded / released previously?

Hi, thanks for your interest. The only 'rules' should be that it doesn't generate a copyright claim and it should be high quality content. Who decides? I am afraid that's going to be my responsibility. It's OK when it's abstract, but it should contain recognizable musical elements. I have no idea if this is going to work, but I have to start somewhere :)

This is nice, I'm inspired. OT Question, which AI platform do you use for the videos?
@CinematicLaboratory11 күн бұрын
In 99% of my stuff I use Envato Elements (stock video, no AI, artists are paid :) and when I use AI to generate something I can't find/make, I use Luma Dream Machine. When it's not obvious it's fake, I will add an 'AI generated' icon.

I like it, but you won't here it in elevators of hotels (unfortunately). I really don't understand the constant recycling of mainstream music, like we're eternally stuck in the '80's. I got tired of X-mass, hearing the same stupid songs every year and therefore I hate the Holidays, so depressing. I got tired of the top 2000 classic songs. There should be a top 2000 lo fi or something. Your channel is refreshing. I got into modular years ago, but am not posting anything (yet). I just use my modules to create something I like to listen to, and that happens to be noise in the broadest sense of the word.
@CinematicLaboratory11 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your opinion, highly appreciated. I didn't understand it either when my favorite tracks of the 70's and 80's kept returning in hip hop raps. But the TR808 was dumped, nobody wanted it as a drum replacement so it was super cheap. Recycling mainstream was also cheap (before artists started to claim their master rights), and the orginals were often big hits in past charts. Now I realize they made it 'their own' with the means available while older generations just felt it was stolen. I never been a fan of hiphop but now I can appreciate the creative force behind it. If you don't have any money, this is the way. And then, at some point, commerce kicks in and competely ruins it... Regardless, I must say that reusing one of my old tracks created quite interesting new ambiences. I think I love this recipe.
