Happy to hear you picked this bar up, your always honest thoughts on this will be great as you incorporate it to your training. Some points that I think that would be nice to hear would be about: how this fits into non-Rogue racks and maybe the XiiXi extenders, the width and feel of the handles vs the Kaddy and other bars, your suggestions on how to program this and other specialty bars into your PL training, other exercises this can be used for. Thanks Brandon!

Thanks for quick preview. I’m very confused how this fits into any rack with a 41” inner width when Rogues’s specs list the outer dimension of the frame at 41”. I cancelled my order specifically for this reason due to me having a REP PR 5000 rack. I was not confident in “precision” re-racks using heavy weight and pushing to failure. Figured I’d be beating the hell out of bar and my rack. Plus, my Mutant Metals Monolifts effectively reduce my inner width to 40” since their width extends beyond uprights. Could you kindly elaborate on clearance in your 41” rack version (do you still have your REP rack, I thought you got rid of that so what are you testing this clearance on?) Any details on the use of this within a 47” rack would be immensely helpful to many of us. Thank you in advance

Home gyms have a big range of budgets and available space and I certainly feel that Coop, Brandon etc. are towards the higher end of that range. However, I feel that I and probably most people with more constraints couldn't justify the cost of this bar, or any bars at anything close to this pricepoint, when there are good bars that do near enough the same thing at less than half the price. I think I'm very lucky to have six specialty bars which I have accrued over the last few years that in total cost me about the same as what that one Rogue bar did. 😂 That said, if you can afford it, more power to you. YOLO and all that. 🤪

I would say this bar, because you can really dial in the exact hand position that fits YOU the best, is actually geared more towards the home gym user than any of the other bars on the market. Obviously the price is going to lower the amount of people who actually pull the trigger but if commercial use was the primary audience then adjustability wouldn't have been a factor.

@@tstats1129 I'm guessing not even close as far as form. The Rogue is definitely nicer than the Elite FTS bar which is welded schedule 80 pipe and square tubing with some powdercoat. They had that bar at the Arnolds. My main cocern with it is how the load sleave are attached to the main frame. Personally, I would have thought a Morse Taper in conjunction with the bolt would have been a much better system. (Not patentable since it is a long existing and prove system) Without the tamper I am apprehensive about long term heavy use and the retaining nut loosening. Should the retaining nut loosen and the bar continue to be used, I wonder what the result would be.
@fencingrocks3
@fencingrocks3 2 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to Morse Taper? That's designed for 2 moving parts like on machine tooling. Why would that be more beneficial than Rogue's design here? The parts aren't moving around relative to each other, and need to resist against more impact forces than rotational forces I would think. I'm not an engineer though.
@GorillaStrengthEquipment
@GorillaStrengthEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
@@fencingrocks3 corrected Yes, anytime you want something self-centered and frigid a taper is a good option. Morse Tapers have been used in the tailstock of lathes for years as fixed tool holders. They get exposed to encredible forces. The mechanical properties of them and longevity is well know. They are used in many applications but best know in machining and heavy equipment. It is a well proven technology that is used when failure is not an option.

@meisdetermined 2 жыл бұрын
Same here. I decided that I could own the Elite FTS cambered bar and the Rep cambered bar and have pretty much all the angles I needed covered. The price for these knurled handles is at such a premium that it’s ridiculous and it doesn’t come with a quick system so that people could change distances quickly. In a commercial setting people aren’t gonna want to wait to switch out angles and width of grips so it loses it’s appeal for commercial settings. This can be made better, a LOT better, just hasn’t been engineered yet.

I have the Kabuki I use basically for incline bench only and am always afraid I’m going to hit myself in the face with a careless downstroke. I think the angle I would like to see explored the most is the cost, and who this bar is really for given the price, and the other options out there. Other than how nice the stainless and the knurling is, I don't see this giving me any more utility than my American Cambered Bar from Elite FTS ($315). I get that there are differences like the knurling, the weight, the modularity, etc. But at $1000 (as seen) this bar would basically be a finishing exercise on my upper body day. Maybe if I were in my 60's and this were more of my go-to benching bar, it would more justify the expense because you could really dial in the fit, and your body might need that extra bit of forgiveness that a custom fit would provide.

I love Rogue stuff as much as most home gym people, but they are really starting to price themselves way outside the means of most home-gym type people. Their newest products are all firmly in to collegiate (aka Sorinex) level pricing, sometimes with the associated build quality but unfortunately sometimes not. I could definitely see in a few years Rep/Titan being the solid “home gym” brands and Rogue being in this weird “too expensive home gym but not quite commercial” level.

No way you spent $900 on that lol. For science, I guess. The $400 price range is already at the limit I'm willing to spend on something like this. If you had to choose only one, would you rather get this bar or the Duffalo bar? I know they're different and all that but again, if you were budgeting which one would you go with?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
so let's say I didn't have all the bars I have. I think I would likely go with the duffalo/buffalo as I tend to do a lot of squatting movements and it's a good variation which can also be used for pressing.
@JustMarioBros
@JustMarioBros 2 жыл бұрын
@@BasementBrandon that's what I was thinking too. The Duffalo bar gives me a wider variety but I really do want this rogue bar either way.

I don’t see how this is an improvement over the Kadillac bar except for the possibility of moving the handles.

@@BasementBrandon yeah the bar looks nice, but are the handle angles more comfortable? If paying a premium over an already premium bar it better be better at its main function of helping to promote a pain and injury free bench press.

I really like the reviews and first impression videos, but the price for even the basic version is ridiculous. I don't know why, but when companies do things like this it sours me on all of their products. I literally just removed a Rogue 45lb Ohio power bar from my cart.
@BasementBrandon

I think this one is more of an outlier as even in context of the market for these bars it's way more money.

$900 or even $500 is enough that makes me not even begin to care about what you might be able to add in another review video because I’m never going to buy it. Even for made in the USA Rogue fanboy tax is getting pretty steep and makes it damn hard to sit down
