What I've learned from this show: squatting is illegal in residential property. Amit's dad's friend can't produce a tenancy agreement, therefore he is squatting, therefore the police should be able to remove him quick smart. I don't get why he needs to go through the eviction process at all.

I'm sure that, in addition to her friends there, a big reason why she loves school is because it isn't infested with mold and bedbugs! It sounds as though Amit's father's tenant/boarder was financially abusing him (and it would also be elder abuse). Amit's father was a senior citizen, estranged from his family, and likely manipulated and bullied into transferring so much money to the tenant. I doubt they were actually friends. My own landlord makes "friends" with tenants in a coercive way, using their fear of eviction against them to force them to be "nice" and go along to get along, lest things go worse for them.

I think Lola had every right to give that POS a piece of her mind...He never made any effort to do what she claimed he said he would do...He took her for granted and earns the POS title...She was never able to vent her concerns, so I guess it all piled up and came out in one go!...However, she should have paid the rent, regardless, or saved funds to be able to move into a better home for Destiny and herself...She didn't help her situation by planning ahead!...It's very sad but it is what it is!

I am truly living in clown world, when someone isn't paying rent if they don't like where they live guess what... MOVE.. How about that? We all have to pay our rent, but she would rather live in squalor then pay hers. Not only that, she's letting her child live there? Maybe don't have kids if you can't take care of them properly..

There might be reasons that she didn't save the rent money. Maybe she struggled being a single mom in a country where the cost of living has become inhumane for people in the lower income brackets. I say this as someone from a real 3rd World country - South Africa. We don't know the full story, we only know what the producers of this show want us to know. As the child of a single mother who brought me up alone - it touched my heart to see how much the lady loves her daughter. Sometimes, it is easy to judge someone else. Yet, we do not understand the full tapestry of their lives. That little girl doesn't want to change schools and lose her friends. She is sick in that house. They both are. That home is a health and safety hazard, but when you don't have a vision of you deserve better, you get stuck in what is familiar. My heart is with that beautiful little girl. I really honestly hope they will be ok. All Im saying is we don't know the full story.

Maybe she is just bad with money and has a history of not paying rent and making landlords go through expensive eviction proceedings to get her out. This would account for why, in 5 years, she didn't absolutely nothing and lives from bags and boxes. At the end of the day she has a child to care for and she needs to try a lot harder
